Isn't Aranda to USC inevitable? If it doesn't happen, I'll assume there is a dumpster fire there that even prospective coaches can see.

On Sirius today Full Ride show they were talking a lot of Fickell to USC, and claimed the odds were good, dont think it would be a good fit. Mullen may get another gig fast, just too many chairs and not enough options out there.

This is why I question the move by both Texas and OU.  Sure, the pie slices are bigger, but for fans, is the amount of money your program makes the most important consideration, or winning?  There will be a LOT of losses to go around in the SEC, and only so many playoff slots for 2 loss teams.  I'll be interested to see how it plays out.

I agree and the recent loses really dont help to bolster the move. Bottom line win the Big 12 and go undefeated and you are in most years. Move to SEC recruiting will get diluted and likely tougher. Sure more money will be there, not going to be happy with cash with 4 to 5 losses each season. I realize its a done deal but dark days may very well be ahead without a timeline for a path back to the top.

Who has Michigan played???  Other than Michigan St. (loss) and Wisconsin, they've played the dregs of the Big 10.

The method here from Barta and CFP is to prop up the rankings for Big 10 teams as much as possible so that Ohio State in the playoffs is secured. The loss to Oregon and the near loss to Nebraska are easier to ignore when they can say look OSU took out two ranked Michigan teams..... whatever its all BS and real playoff is needed. Ignored the announcement last night. The Bama deal and OSU are crap, and so is Michigan deal. Head to Head losses only matter when it suits the CFP jagbags.

  4. Bats not what they should have been tonight, wondering if Craig Biggio was allowed to help coach hitting since he was always awful against the Braves in the playoffs. Biggio brought enough lumber back from the plate against Braves to build a three bedroom house. Go go get em Game 2!

Harsin was 61-5 at Boise State as OC. Mack brought him in, but I guess decided that Harsin didn't know enough about offense so he named Applewhite as Co-OC. Bet that sat well with Harsin. He's done alright as a HC. Lincoln Riley's roots are in offense. I'd prefer CUM, but if he ain't comin'.

I doubt if Harsin would have made some of the amateurish calls that we've seen out of Herman. Sometimes it seemed as if Herman only started watching football a few years ago, Mensa'd into Houston, got lucky, then got in over his head.

Harsin is a good option. After the last debacle he left in a hurry, and who could blame him. Herman has to go, so if the option is Harsin then make it happen. Meyer would have been the deal of course but thats over time to get someone that can get things going in the right direction again. The coaching searches have been handled horribly, the next move needs to be handled professionally and choices made and secured without leaks and behind the scenes failures.

OU making the playoff hurt the conference overall, I think, as everyone moved up a slot during an otherwise down/flat year.  Pokes should not have shit the bed with head-scratching offensive moves against aggy, but OU got pummeled / Texas plays a CFP contender / ISU player a ranked ND / etc.

OU probably doesn’t lose 63-14 against Georgia, Baylor is a better style matchup for Utah, Etc.  Also, water is wet.

yes, the rest of the Big 12...meh, but I cannot stand SEC SEC SEC mouth breathers and the media which carries their water for them all year long. like it or not the big 12 loses just give more ammunition to the SEC SEC SEC crowd and their countless media friends their leader Paul Furkbaum was already spending his entire making case all day yesterday. These jackasses will use this dirt to try their damndest to get two SEC teams in the CFP, many times when its not deserved. These sh!t heads would like it if we went back to the days of the LSU vs Bama rematch and call it a championship. Texas first of course but because of the SEC SEC SEC deal and the media I would at least prefer if the conference did better during bowl season, because even when the SEC is shitty in the bowl season the media and pollsters will put Miss St, and Gomer up high in the early season rankings because they are part of the SEC.

Harsin was pretty meh last time

I would say Harsin was handcuffed and the proof is look at what he has done since he left. Did well at Ark St, and Boise now they have one loss this year. Mack had Major as a co OC coordinator too. If you look at the Offense setup that Harsin runs and how well he has done since leaving Texas its a much different offense no doubt Mack was sticking his nose into things.

High on my list, fer sher. But make Urban say "No" first.

Urbs is trouble only a matter of time before another scandal and who knows how big the next one will be. Harsin would fix the offense and without all the baggage that Urbs brings.  either way Vermin..errr Herman has to go.

  9. 3rd trip to Ames,  ISU crowd friendly but for sure some whining at ref calls, based on history hard to blame them. Not sure wtf Herman was doing during the first half on offense. Ran the ball over and over even though it was not working at all. 2nd half when Herman finally decides to pass the ball its a different game. Waay more horns down then I have seen previously......

will make the trip again, parking was a long walk since the grass parking was closed this year. Overall I recommend Ames to see a game.
