The most frustrating thing for me is they talk about "eye test". UT beating Bama was the biggest win of the year. Hell it might be the biggest win the last 3-4 years. I cant thing of any bigger. First team since Cam to win in that stadium. Did they not see that? They think beating shit teams by 50 is more impressive? Idiotic,
Not a conspiracy guy. I do think these people are letting bias show thru greatly though

Great thing is as long as UT takes care of business no matter what else happens its all going to come down to the last game on Sat. Noles and Cards. I imagine the ratings for that will be thru the roof.

This thread is the same thing over and over and over. Its hilarious. And I keep reading it.
Cant wait for Friday night to hear why the game doesnt matter by half the people and the other half excited Oregon won.

I love that start time. It might be a distraction for the team to already know if FSU won. We can focus on our game and worry about the other games that impact us afterwards.
I remember what happened in 2001, when the games went our way earlier in the day and that seemed to distract the team and they didn't get their shit together until Colorado was way ahead.
I believe the Tenn/Fla game went final right before kickoff.
too soon

This. McElroy has been trying to argue logic over the idiots, even as it relates to Oregon. We need to win but it would be nice if we could roll.
Wasnt a fan of the 11AM kick time but the committee watches the championship week games all together. Thats the only game of importance on at that time. B10 and ACC will be sharing TV time. Maybe Greg can talk some sense to those buffoons when Texas is up 30+ in the 4th Q

In this case, from a team development standpoint, I'm thinking that scheduling a premier OOC opponent could prove beneficial down the line in the playoffs.
I cant think of one situation where scheduling tough OOC games has helped the team that won make the playoffs. It has only hurt them when they lose. Maybe Ohio St/Ou the year they split is the only one but not sure.
next year for example the Mich game will be awesome. If we lose that game though along with say UGA and Fla and have 3 losses we are going to be in this same shitty scenario. We have the best win all year my many opinions and it still likely wont be enough.

Noles opened 5.5 and its down to 2.5. UGA up to 6. Lots of line movements

I don't think the committee will set the precedent that head to head doesn't matter. If they do that, there is no reason to play tough OOC games for any power 5 team anymore.
I hear this a lot. Honest question.. Does the precedent matter anymore after this year? Will the playoffs next year be selected the same way? or will the debate next year just be 11,12,13 seeds and H2H etc?
-
All I hear is they want the "4 best teams" in the playoffs yet all they seem to focus on is the W/L column. Bama, UT, Oregon, Wash can all be debated endlessly but NOBODY with a straight thinks FSU is a top 4 team. Not without Jordan Travis. The only eye test they have is them escaping against a 5-7 team.
-
Crazy thing to me is if Bama had shitty OOC schedule like Mich, Oregon, Washington or Georgia they would probably be the #2 team in the country behind Georgia and they would both be absolute locks for the playoffs win or lose.

Weird this board loves to ignore this when complaining about the Big 12How many millions is ESPN out if the ACC DOES make the playoffs?

If FSU is below #4 in tomorrow's rankings, the writing is on the wall for FSU (ie - they are out if they look like crap again this weekend). I don't see that happening, but some in the media are speculating that it's possible. I think it's mostly wishcasting by folks who can't imagine a world where tOsu doesn't get another shot or the SEC folks looking at the possibility that Bama and Georgia could both be left out.
Thats where im leaning. If Noles are going to get jumped tomorrow is the day it will start. Nobody wants to see the Noles in the playoffs. Especially ESPN when so many blue bloods just waiting to pounce
-
Has a team ever jumped from #8 to top 4 in the final week? Whats the biggest jump ever to make the playoff?

True. I don't look at the lines because those are not dictated by the logic of who is favored to win, but by the movement of money bet on one team or the other.
Chicken or the Egg. Point being Oregon is favored by every metric to win the game.

My predictions that no one cares about for Tuesday rankings.
1. Mich
2. UGA
3. Wash
4. Oregon
5. Ohio St
6. Noles
7. UT
8.Bama

Prediction for this week's rankings:
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Washington
4. Florida State
5. Ohio State
6. Texas
7. Oregon
8. Alabama
Texas jumps Oregon because our resume is simply better. We beat the common opponent much worse than they did. Texas final busted out and put up big points in a blowout win.
Prediction for CFP:
FSU loses to Louisville. FSU, like us, has played evenly against mid-grade and poor teams. They beat an okay LSU team first game of the season. Only other win against a ranked team was #16 Duke. They lost their starting QB.
Chalk the rest of the way.
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Washington
4. Texas
Wash is a 9 point underdog. Wouldnt call that chalk unless you are just looking at ranking. That would be a pretty big upset.

“Ranked” teams, that are ranked because of people voting, don’t matter in Sagarin. Strength of schedule factors in your opponents strength of schedule. The conference is loaded with teams with high SOS because the conference has very few “bad” teams and everyone in the conference plays a decent OOC schedule.
11 teams in the top 30 SOS in the Big12
Wyoming and Rice having good years also helps in comparison to So Miss and North Alabama ( Noles) or Ball St, UT Martin, UAB (UGA)
