"Eric," so far, has been a bit weird and a bit depressing.

I can't tell if I like it or not.  Maybe the lead is who I don't like.

I watched it through. Cumberbatch is extremely talented. Didn't necessarily like his character but man did he pull me in.

It's almost as if the Jones' are a backwater, cash poor, cheap ass, idiotic ownership group with nothing of value to offer the world other than the fact that they own the Cowboys. I don't think they have other streams of revenue for their family like the other billionaire owners.

And yea he’s won with three star guys and is doing well here. But they’re not a money machine and he mentioned in an interview that cbb is an annual free agent frenzy.  He was asked if he’d ever leave UConn and his answer was maybe burnout or the NBA

Yep. He said college is basically the g league now.

Idk if it's cuz you are so close to the sport or what, but it's pretty obvious to those who aren't what's going on here.

Angel Reese is a whiney bitch and an attention whore who regularly gets woe is me and talks about how hard her life is or whatever shit no one wants to hear. She represents the WNBA how most people view it.

Then you have Caitlyn Clark who is an upbeat charmingly cute white girl who has a super polished PR persona and is team team team and thank everyone for everything. Tremendous opportunity politics politics politics answer and then just posts pictures of her being a cool ass chick who is chill and funny.

No one wants to root for a fucking whiney loser bitch who has more obvious character flaws than a poorly written soap opera villain. Everyone wants to root for the cute white girl with the aww shucks persona who drains the occasional freak 3.

Yeah but be honest. You and all the other Clark fans(I'm one too) thought the WNBA was a complete joke and she would just come in and dominate from day one. That's not happening and now you have to make a bunch of excuses about other girls being big jealous of her to cope with your take being wrong and that maybe the players that were already playing in that league were better than you thought.

I hold the more optimistic view that such a species would be sending scientists as explorers and rather than watching us, messing with our weapons systems, and engaging in general aerial grab-ass, they would make contact and share technologies and celebrate the discovery that they are not alone. Such a species would know as well as we do that life in the universe is rare and precious.

Hey, you never know. Maybe the intergalactic species has evolved well past needing warfare to solve things, or they don't need our resources, who knows.

  6. It amazes me that this subject actually gets people so worked up that they'll start insulting each other. I'm gonna go ahead and say that until I see aliens with my own eyes, they aren't among us. Other life out there in the universe, sure, that's a magnitude of space that I just can't fathom. But I am fairly certain that a species capable of traveling across the universe would not simply watch us... they would immediately eliminate us and take our resources....

  7. With every WR class being touted as the bestest ever, I wonder how many teams are going to opt to go with the "let them walk and draft another guy" approach. I always thought that the further away you are from the ball, the more expendable you are. This seems especially true for receivers as all the best athletes tend to play that position.

Your last two sentences basically endorsed our argument.  Unknown players wanting attention. Angel Reese did the same thing. Had no idea who she was u til last years national title game.  These girls aren’t dumb.  They know how to latch on.  A lot more eyes on the wnba means more money

Also I wasn’t sure who Dillon brooks was until he got mouthy about Lebron. Some people want that rub

Im just pushing back on the narrative that they are only doing it because they are dumb and jealous. What I'm saying is that it actually makes strategic sense if they would like to up their own profile and earning potential, as well as creating rivalries. The next time they play Chicago, more people will watch now to see what happens.

Is she getting paid more than them by her team? Or are they just pissed off they aren't as marketable as her and don't have the endorsements? If you aren't marketable, that's on you.

Well then so much for the rising tide lifting the boats then, right? You are simultaneously telling me that these women should be thankful for Caitlin Clark and the money she brings in, none of which they are seeing, and also telling me that if they can't make money on their own it's their problem. Can't have it both ways. And like I said earlier....she is so popular, why doesn't it then make sense to come after her and make a name for yourself? Did anybody know who Chennedy Carter was before she did it?

Derka keeps using the word bounty when there’s nothing of the sort. Moreover, he wasn’t complaining when Candace Parker got the Clark treatment years ago. Why not?

Clark’s huge sneaker deal isn’t what brings exposure; it’s her style of play. There’s nothing indicating that her shoe deal is going to lead to increase $$$ for all players. Will the arena sellouts? That remains to be seen, but some WNBA teams have been selling out for years and nothing happened. Now, what Clark’s shoe deal did do is force Nike’s hand as to why she got a deal (with no NC) so quickly compared to Aja Wilson who Nike had been sitting on her deal for years (and Aja has a NC).

Some people are conflating the idea that just because they themselves started to pay attention to the WNBA now because of Clark (why it’s specifically because of her and not other players like Aja, Candace, Diana, Elena, etc. only they know) means the league is “doing better” thanks to her.

I’m not sure what the fuck this is about but Jesus

Yeah how about we let the rising tide actually lift the other boats before we start demanding that all the boats bow down to the new diety.

I don't think there is a "bounty" on Caitlin.  It's just jealousy and women being catty.

But the point is that these other women are simply being short sighted.  They should be happy Caitin signed a huge sneaker deal because it brings exposure to the league, and a rising tide floats all boats.

That said, until the WNBA puts out a viable product, I guess it won't matter.  I tried watching, but it's just garbage at this point.

What bothers me is this portrayal of the other women as "just being catty" or "they're just jealous of her", as if any human that is in that situation wouldn't feel the exact same way. You guys realize that when Pete Maravich was drafted, his salary as a rookie exceeded the salaries of the rest of his teammates combined, right? He had teammates resent him and refuse to play with him that went to the ABA. This is a natural dynamic at play here and it isn't just women who would feel that way if they were in that situation. You have established players being well out-earned by a rookie and being told they should thank their lucky stars that she came along and that they have the opportunity to play with her. How should they feel.
