  1. Wenaas with an overpass and UH kill...please get her out.
  2. Wenaas must be the BEST practice player to get the start...cuz she is terrible in-game.
  3. Granted it’s the end of the set, but he takes out our best scoring middle….yet he doesn’t take out the OH that’s bleeding points when she’s in….make it make sense to me!
  4. Wenaas needs to be pulled! Can’t pass, can’t hit.
  5. F’n ridiculous
  6. At least Wenaas is starting to swing hard...her finesse play isn't effective if she doesn't start off swinging hard each set...
  7. That's been the schtick with Jerritt, doesn't prioritize on passing because he usually has the terminal hitters to put the ball down in out-of-system swings. But there's more parity and teams are developing better hitters. He doesn't coach them to pass with precision...just to get the ball up, especially on transition defense
  8. Ella needs a lot of work
  9. Can't believe how bad Barnes has been...she was touted as one of the best passers in the NCAA last year Wenaas is just terrible against good blocking teams...she can't hit out of system and the team can't pass
  10. The biggest weaknesses that need to be addressed this week are serve-receive passing and production at the OH2 position (Wenaas' spot). Barnes was supposed to come and stabilize the backrow but she has progressively worsened each match (just my observation). Maybe it's because she is playing out of her natural left back (libero) position, but so far her ball control has been really streaky in both the middle and right back positions. And I think that has affected Akana from playing at a high level since she is now having to adjust to playing middle back, instead of her natural position at right back. If Barnes continues to struggle, I'd actually like to see Wenaas replace her and just focus on her backrow play. Then Byrd can rotate in and hit for her on the left pin when she rotates to the front row. Byrd can provide the hitting production that the team desperately needs on the left pin, and Jenna can still be an offensive outlet attacking from the backrow if needed. Plus, this move would also allow Akana to play in her right back position. I think this change can help stabilize the ball control issues. If not, then Air Byrd can just go up and attack the ball with whatever out-of-system set she gets. Either way, with her vertical jump and fast arm swing, she's going to be terminating the ball at a higher clip than what Wenaas has been producing at.
  11. I would take her over Wenaas anyday....but she probably would have struggled with Ella's setting
  12. Passing broke down and they had a complete meltdown
  13. Transition offense looking better as well
  14. she’s young and unfortunately really inconsistent…
  15. she had the benefit of working with her over the summer while Asjia was playing with the national team.
  16. i’m just glad Jerritt finally made the needed change
  17. yes, my bad
  18. Devin may not be terminal but she at least puts heat on the ball on out of system swings so that its not a free ball to the other team
  19. To hit for Molly on the left pin and then she was subbed out
  20. Molly was able to hit well the past years with strong left pin hitters. She doesnt have that this year. She’s never been able to consistently kill a ball when if she’s not hitting a perfect set or left one-on-one.
  21. for real… not sure why he’s not going to his underclassmen on the bench, Devin and Jordyn.
  22. Wenaas is not it. Granted Swindle's sets are not the most consistent or well-located, but even when she gets a decent ball, she ends up tipping or going off-speed. That's ok only after you've established that you can terminate the ball. Changes at OH and Opp need to be made if Wenaas and Phillips continue their abysmal hitting against the next 2 ranked opponents. I still think Byrd should be on the left pin instead of Wenaas. She jumps out of the gym and can at least hit the same type of sets as Skinner without Ella having to adjust the tempo of her setting like she has to with Jenna. Same with Devin who should be starting at Opp. She doesn't need a perfect, fast tempo set to terminate like Molly. Plus, Devin can be in serve-receive to cover for Byrd when she is in the front row.
  23. Last year was special... This upcoming season is going to be a huge work in progress. Ellas is going to be an inconsistent freshman, Wenaas is not a terminal OH, Molly still can't put down an out-of-system ball, and Bella is average at best. My expectations have been lowered.
  24. Wennas would be a good get from the portal. I just don't think we have a scholarship available for her...unless someone transfers out. I think if anyone on the current roster did, it would be Parra. Elliott just has a bevy of tall, physical pins I think he would rather play in the front row. 6'4 Byrd and 6'4 Helmers are coming in early this spring semester, 6'4 Kahahawai now has a season under her belt, Madi and Molly will be working to keep their spots on the court, and then 6'5 Tomkinson will be coming in the summer...and there's still 6' walk-on Miller who could probably get a scholarship somewhere else but wants to play at Texas. But even if a 'ship did open up, I still feel the priority should be getting an experienced setter. Right now, we have incoming freshman setter Swindle coming in the spring and a walk-on in Crownover. It'd be nice to get an experienced P5 setter from the transfer portal who can mentor Swindle.
