  1. Start by getting a setter that can consistently set the middles on 2 and 3 ball passes
  2. The epic fail was not getting an experienced MB in the portal and having to break in 2 new MBs (Singletary and Ames, a true FR) Also should have gone after an elite L/DS. Because of that, we had Wenaas having to pass all 6 rotations and play defense in the back row. JE instead went after 2 Opposites in the portal when he already had Byrd, Kahahawai, Tomkinson, and Helmers wasting away on the bench.
  3. Ayden Ames in the portal. IMO the lack of consistent setting to the middle is running off our MBs.
  4. Pretty sure she is SMU bound
  5. Either start Harris or get a transfer setter next season, preferably Stucky
  6. another wtf set by Swindle
  7. She's terrible. Sorry not sorry.
  8. Hair is not in play
  9. 1st contact on serve-receive and transition digging has been terrible. Our offense becomes too predictable. Doesn't help that Ella has trouble bettering the ball.
  10. Would've liked to see Lauenstein come in for Abby when she is struggling. Or use her in the double sub instead of Devin. Devin just can't put the ball down.
  11. And passing...and setting
  12. Can't be tipping easy balls over if they want to win
  13. Texas looks gassed right now. Too many tips.
  14. Not defending Swindle b/c I've never been a fan of her setting, but we had 3 elite passers/defenders in Halter, Akana, and Barnes that year that made Ella's job easier...plus Madi and Asjia who were automatic in putting balls away.
  15. I really want setter Alexis Stucky and MB Jaela Auguste on the team next season. And maybe another stud libero/DS.
  16. He made too many changes in the 3rd set and it threw off the team’s rhythm until they switched back to the regular lineup in the 5th. Whitney was at OH instead of Abby and it was painfully obvious Whitney struggles hitting sets off of Ella. Devin was the Opp in the 6-2 dub sub and she struggled scoring. And then he had Ramsay playing left back and Emma middle back. I actually think that’s what should have been done from the start of the season, but it’s too late to make that change.
  17. Happy that Devin stuck it out for 4 years, but Whitney needs to be the other Opposite for the remainder of the season. Unfortunately, I have doubts that this team will make it far into the tournament without good blocking and tough serving.
  18. Yes but it's also getting predictable
  19. Not sure Spears in the back row is worth it if Swindle can't give her a good set to attack. Her back row defense is a liability.
  20. Never understood why Jerritt went for another offensive coach after Sullivan left...worst defensive team Texas has had in decades
  21. Ella’s sets are terrible
  22. Agree. Singletary is good but she wasn't putting up All-American numbers. Mari can hammer the ball when she has an open net, but she really didn't have much shot selection variation as a middle hitter. And I always thought she hit the slide attack on the way down from her approach, instead of hitting it at the apex. She never hit over the block with the slide attack like McCage, Chiaka, or Asjia. Her blocking was good when the other team was out-of-system, but she was so slow to read the opposing setter in in-system plays. Ames looked much improved in her footwork in closing the blocks this spring. Bunton was probably the quickest out of all them moving laterally, but her offense is still a work in progress. But it may not matter that much as I think the pins will carry the team offensively next season. We just need the MBs to block well.
  23. Rumor is Mari wanted a comparable NIL deal to what Stafford is getting… We’ll be young again in the middle unless Elliott goes after an experienced MB in the portal but don’t know if there is anyone. If not, Bunton is finally healthy and looked much improved in the spring matches. Also FR Taylor Harvey will be coming in the fall.
  24. Mari Singletary in the portal
  25. Texas hired its new Associate Head Coach, Ben Josephson. He's the former AC from Kentucky and a former setter, so hopefully, we'll see improvements from Swindle.
