    there is this narrative that black folks' peaceful protest during the national anthem is driving away viewers because of the disrespect to the flag and the troops and whatever the fuck else. i have a different theory. i think the nfl has reached saturation, and a natural falling off is expected as younger demographics care less about it. sure, some older demographics are going to blame the black folks' peaceful protest during the anthem, but that's so they can have their identity politics.

    honestly, it's like people forget that it was a fucking green beret and badass longhorn football player that counseled kaepernick to take a knee rather than sit down, because of the inherent respect that taking a knee engenders.

    oh wait. they haven't forgotten, they just aren't interested because black people are protesting. you can hear it in all the dog whistles. "these spoiled millionaire athletes " might as well be "these uppity nigras." the protest is poignant, but it's been twisted by hateful old white men.

    That and cable cutting.

  2. Alberto trying like hell to become fully tropical, dry air ain't letting him do it right now though. He still has a fair bit of time over water (18 hours give or take) and might finally make it to fully tropical, but we'll see.

    Dubai:  Five people were killed and at least 40 missing on the Yemeni island of Socotra on Friday as Cyclone Mekunu pummelled the area then made its way towards the Arabian Peninsula's southern coast. The five dead included four Yemenis and one Indian national, residents and medical sources told Reuters, while the missing including Yemenis, Indians and Sudanese.

    Yemen declared a state of emergency on Thursday for Socotra, which lies between southern Yemen and the Horn of Africa and is renowned for its unique animal and plant life.

    Largely untouched by Yemen's three-year-old war, it is under the control of the internationally-recognised government whose president, Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi, is in exile in Saudi Arabia.

    Special Tropical Weather Outlook
    NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
    130 PM EDT Thu May 24 2018

    For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

    A broad surface low drifting slowly northward over the eastern
    Yucatan Peninsula continues to become better defined. Although
    showers and thunderstorms, along with strong gusty winds, remain
    primarily over the adjacent waters of the northwestern Caribbean
    Sea, environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive
    for development through early next week, and a subtropical or
    tropical depression is likely to form by late Saturday over the
    southeastern Gulf of Mexico. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance
    aircraft is scheduled to investigate the disturbance Friday
    afternoon, if necessary. Locally heavy rainfall is forecast across
    western Cuba and over much of Florida and the northern Gulf Coast
    into early next week. In addition, the threat of rip currents will
    steadily increase along the Gulf coast from Florida westward to
    Louisiana over the Memorial Day weekend. For more information on
    these threats, please see products issued by your local weather
    office. The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this system
    will be issued by 800 PM EDT this evening.
    * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.

    Special Tropical Weather Outlook
    NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
    710 PM EDT Wed May 23 2018

    For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

    A broad surface low centered over the southeastern Yucatan
    Peninsula has become better defined since yesterday, and it
    continues to produce a large area of cloudiness and showers
    extending from the northwestern Caribbean Sea across Cuba into the
    Florida Straits. Continued slow development of this system is
    possible during the next couple of days as it drifts northward near
    the Yucatan Peninsula. Thereafter, environmental conditions are
    forecast to become more conducive for development, and a subtropical
    or tropical depression is likely to form this weekend over the
    eastern or central Gulf of Mexico. Regardless of development,
    locally heavy rainfall is possible across western Cuba and the
    Cayman Islands during the next few days, and over much of Florida
    and the northern Gulf Coast during the weekend. For more information
    on the heavy rain threat, please see products issued by your local
    weather office. The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this
    system will be issued by 800 AM EDT on Thursday.
    * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

    Total clockwork... a depression forms in the Gulf in late May.  Did last year, did the year before, etc.

    Although this one looks to be a mild spanker of MS east into FL, I would bet that another will form in the Western Gulf within 2 weeks.  There's already a low that's going to form out there by tomorrow (S of LA), whether it goes tropical is unknown.

    We always seem to get a very early, mild storm in the Gulf before the real action starts later next month.

    Este, sucks for any memorial day plans though.

    Love it. Mueller has fucking nothing. Obama's DOJ was spying on Trump just like he did on any reporter that didn't perform immediate fellatio on his ego. The DOJ/FBI/CIA are about to be given an enema. Most of you fuckers would be cheering your asses off if it was anyone but Trump lifting the skirt of the American spying apparatus.

    That's right bitch, be afraid
