Nice haul today. Tomatoes are just barely starting to turn orange but the mockingbirds are picking them off despite my rubber sneks. Had to snag the onion early too as it's getting zero sunlight next to the 6 foot tomato plant.
Also this is Sticks. My son named him that because he sticks to everything. Today he sticks his dick in his girlfriend.
Solid pepper harvest, between us we could have a mean salsa.

The nightshade huckleberries have redeemed themselves as a pretty damn decent jelly. One quart of berries to make 3 pretty concentrated 4 oz jars of jelly. I’m more of a jam guy, but these things are too packed with seeds for that. Next up will be blackberry jam or jelly because I’m getting a pint a day and they’re not even at their peak.

Nice! I got 4 tiny blackberries (native dewberries actually). I planted the cutting last summer and it didn't really take off vegetatively until this spring. So, hoping for a better harvest next year.
Separately, I found a huge mustang grape plant on one of my live oaks. Anyone have experience with mustang grapes?
They’re fine, don’t really like them fresh but they make a good jelly.
Also picked some tomatoes and serranos for a weekend at the lake. Tomatoes are producing a crop every day, but it’s still going to be two weeks or so until I’m completely buried in 30 plants worth.

No. Takara black and red (Japan market exclusive) are non-domestic market bottlings. If they are in the states it’s because someone had them shipped here from overseas.
Only place I’ve seen it on the shelf was in California. And by on the shelf I mean on the floor by the case.

Alright, 2 month update.
Good: Dewberries yielded 3 berries, but the plant is expanding like crazy. Trombocino Squash has, at least until now, proven SVB resistant and setting some fruit. Roma, Better Boy, Sweet 100, and Brandywine tomatoes producing well. Canteloupe plants in fabric pots are taking over.
Ok: Pepper plants have yielded some fruits, but vegetative growth is below expectations.
Bad: Cucumbers, Green Beans, and green peas have been teh suk.
Trombocino Squash:
Brandywine Tomatoes:
I’ve been trying to grow peas and beans (non southern pea/black eyed) and I swear it’s impossible. Winter didn’t work, spring didn’t work, maybe I’ll try one more time in the late fall before I scrap it.

Also, what is the best way to ship supplies to Alaska? Say I want to ship a 150 pound box with a tent and other supplies? Is there a reasonably cost effective way to get that done?
Probably cheapest to pay Alaska airlines oversized/overweight baggage fees and then pack it into a plastic tote and zip tie it shut. It’s how we do it up there. Everything goes air freight anyway so it’s hard to beat the price and convenience of baggage. Ideally you become an AK Air MVP and fly two bags for free.

I’m making some changes to my docking situation this year and have found myself with too many boats so it’s time to sell my 2015 MB Tomcat F22. It’s about the best value for a boat with a real tabbed surf system and it throws up a decent wave. Killer Exile kind system and very clean, but needs a new carpet and cover. 275 hours total with 120 hours on a replacement Raptor 400 motor done by Ski Dock. It’s on Lake Travis at West Beach and I’m looking for $48k ish. Hit me up if you want to live your best life on the lake this summer.

It’s a little bit of a dead season between winter and summer gardens, but I’m about to turn the corner. First tomatoes of the year (sweet 100 cherry), black Spanish grapes, blueberries, edamame/soybeans, nightshade huckleberries, zucchini and blackberries.
But this wind can go die in a fire. I’m ready for at least some amount in f harvesting before the blast furnace kills everything.

I’m not sure what did this to two of my tomatoes, but maybe cutworms? I had extra seedlings and 4 of each variety already in the ground, but I do hate bugs. Tomatoes are just starting to flower, as are my nightshade huckleberries and otricoli berries. My peppers in grow bags got kicked in the nuts by this wind but are starting to rally. I also planted some zucchini 100’ away from where I’ve had them before to see if they can produce a bit before the SVBs kill them. Finally, I transplanted 18 rustica tobacco plants throughout the garden.

Holy crap, I heard this all the way from Bee Cave. It made me jump and the dogs started barking. I would have guessed it was no more than a mile away. Maybe it was a modern day David Hahn?

Up 12%. Doesn't surprise me, our last appraisal dropped 31% in one year, which seemed absurd.
Up 11%. Makes sense when you think about how sales prices are still down in the metro. /s

Finished 121 on the Scotsman last year- brokered loans. For context I think there’s about 60k brokers in America. Pretty exciting for me. Was a career goal when I started to make it. New career goal is 100M in originations in a year. That would be pretty solid for a 1 man shop.
Thanks for all who let me help them. I really do love what I do and feel fortunate to do it. So much better than being a lawyer from a quality of life/happiness standpoint.I sent you a PM about hitting your next goal.

Laguna Beach, Capistrano Beach, El Porto (N Manhattan Beach) and Black’s Beach. Laguna is especially choice if you rip 133 into town on a motorcycle. Since lane splitting is legal in CA you can get some good runs in filtering up to the front of lights.
Westport (first bay south of Olympic peninsula) in Washington State is a hidden gem if you like abandoned beaches, beer, mediocre food and fishing towns, which I do.
There are also about a million white shell beaches with zero people ever sprinkled around southeast Alaska.

I put 15 (4 varieties) peppers and 18 (7 varieties) tomatoes in the ground today along with tons of companion basil and marigolds. Since I grew everything from seed I have way too many plants so I should have backups in case a freak freeze or windstorm knocks them out. I still need to plant a ton of squash, melons, and some oddballs I’m trying this year like otricoli berries, litchie tomatoes and nightshade huckleberries. I’m also putting in a ton of spinach, arugula, dill, cilantro, sage and chives between the main plants.

What kind? I'm on year 3 with a Santa Rosa and it's looking the same as yours right now.
I think it’s a Methley, but I’ll double check. It’s grown from a 1/2” diameter 3-4’ bare root twig to 12’ tall, it’s crazy.

I'm gonna try some gardenin' this spring. I am sure I will screw it up like the rest of my life but what the heck. Starting small (that's what she said). About 200 sq.ft. I weedeated the crap out of an area that has been neglected forever, then did a little hoeing. Added some compost today. Planning to plant some corn, beans, and squash in a few weeks.
Definitely try cow pea/black eyed peas. They’re one of the easiest things ever ever grown and seemingly cannot be killed.

Have you tried ripening in a bag? That’s what’s happening to mine, they rot before they turn colors. I’ve been picking them green because they still taste great me better green than rotten.
Also, piles of tomatoes and blackberries with a pair of micro peen eggplants.
