    Aim or pace or both?

Lay down some sticks on a practice green and check your alignment if it's aim. If it's pace, I like to keep moving - wiggle the arms, shake the legs, whatever - and move fairly quick. That forces me to be more athletic and think less but feel more and usually my pace is decent as a result.

It’s both.  I just go full retard when I try to hit a putt.  Some pulled.  Some pushed. Some way too short.  Some way too long.  If I’m within 20 ft, it’s almost a guaranteed three putt.  If I’m 2ft to 5 ft, it’s almost a guaranteed 2 putt. It’s like a phobia now.  This, and chipping, used to be my strength (as in like 2 weeks ago).  I’ll try both of these drills but seriously considering left handed.  I can putt just fine that way.  So weird.

Color might be the toughest decision of the build.

All these are dead sexy.  But, the martini inspired one is next level.  Not sold on the targa but that’s what I would pic if I had to pic right now.

It apparently doesn’t have to have a tail but I like them so it will have one.

Not trying to throw shade, but I've had friends with SF90's that have sold them pretty quickly. They dropped pretty hard on the used market as well. I know it's their "entry level" car, but the 296 seems to be a much better car for the somewhat longer term.

That was more of a lambo comment than anything.  Just not a fan of them.  I still like the F8 better than the 296 and SF90.  To me, it just has better lines.  Then again, I probably like the 458 better than the F8.

  3. F this game.  So, I have always heard of “the yips” for putting.  I thought it was just something you had on a hole or 2.  I have had them the past two weeks and am petrified of putting.  I’m an 11 that normally putts and chips like a 5 but drives like a 20 and now I can’t putt.  Really fun part is, I am actually driving the ball well now.  At the moment, I can actually put left handed with the back of the putter way better than I can right handed.

You should start a thread on the entire Singer experience. Document the whole process exhaustively. I will subscribe.

Sounds like a good idea.  When we get to the stage of having something substantive to add, will do that.

very important question: what color ??

That’s gonna be one of the harder decisions.  Fairly certain it will be some form of white, blue or black. I have traditionally gone black but I have an F8 that is Abu Dhabi blue with gold wheels and it’s probably the best looking combination I have ever seen.  At least to me.

Which one of you rolls as “Fat Thor” in Southlake?

    I'l admit it...other than it being a Dodge, I like it.  But, I am a 47 y/o child.

  6. Had a quick trip to  Charlotte, NC later last week and a buddy of mine got me on Charlotte Country Club. I don’t think I have ever played a club that old (built in 1911 I think) and it was unbelievably cool. One of the more enjoyable golf experiences I have ever had down to the caddy named Boxcar that had worked there 50 years.  If you are around those parts, definitely worth the time.

Now Chileno Bay tomorrow.  I still hate golf though, lol.

  7. If you are in or near Austin, HUGE shoutout to Geromi of Boat Town.  Long story short, had two families out for the first time since de-winterizing the boat.  Apparently, when the person winterized, they missed emptying the strainer.  So, unbeknownst to me, it cracked.
took off in the boat, barely made it where I was going and there were a bunch of problems. Mainly caused by the cracked strainer.

Called the local Boat Town and they said they couldn’t send someone to fix it.  Called Geromi and within 30 minutes someone was there fixing it.  Got it fixed and I was on my way.

Truth be told I like Nautiques better than Mastercraft’s but bought a Mastercraft due to the service promised.  I won’t ever buy from anyone else.

Fun fact, he sold me this boat used with 20 hours on it as a favor to another customer and didn’t make a dime by selling it to me.  And, this is still the service I received.

Therr are still people that do business the right way and he is one of them.

Very nice, I've been watching eBay, Craigs List, etc. for a while, looking for a steal on one of these.  They are so freaking expensive and Associated sells through their production runs when they re-release them.

We were out at Thornhill last fall and saw some folks racing some of these.

This has become an issue, lol. I now have 3 of them plus a new OG still sealed in the box that will stay that way on the shelf.  The first one will remain decoration. The second 2, plus a lot of additional parts, will be as suped up as you can make it in this generation.

I have heard about Thornhill and will probably check it out someday.

  9. Yeah, thinking about it, the sitting still comment was probably not accurate. In my mind, I was thinking sailing is chilling and casually cruising through the water.  But, can certainly see there is more to it than that and  it can get hairy dealing with the elements and can definitely respect it takes a lot of experience and skill.

Absolutely the racing seems like a lot of work and could easily produce my favorite drug.  It also seems very expensive and time consuming.

(Since we are talking about passions/hobbies, just felt like writing this next part to share in case it interests anybody.  Would be interested in reading y’all’s version of this)

For me, I like the smell of hot brakes, fuel burning, a seat with no padding while locked in with a harness so you are part of the car, setting up the car, balancing just beyond the cars grip, diabolical qualifying laps where you get out shaking a little and think “holy shit”, laps where all sections come together, breaking into a new second you haven’t seen before, not letting the predictive lap time fuck you up, pit crew telling you what you need on a lap during qualifying and making it happen, beating the people that trained you, the nervousness when gridding up not knowing what kind of shape things will be in when you return, the way your heart pumps when watching the shoulder/elbow for the flag to drop, the initial roar when everyone steps on it, surviving that first turn, reminding yourself to breathe, drink water and lightly grip the steering wheel, the sound two cars make when they are inches apart leaving a corner and the engines sing in harmony, setting up a pass several turns before you intend to pass, defending a corner, perfectly exiting a corner counter steering and  there was no more track to use on track out and there is probably a little dust behind you, standing on the brakes because you came in too hot but you made it, forcing an error on the person in front of you because you are pressuring them, flashing your lights at the person you are pressuring, seeing the white flag, the sigh of relief when you pass the checkered flag and let off the gas, the feeling during a cool down lap especially if you won or placed, pulling back into pits in one piece, comparing notes and sharing stories with the other racers afterwards especially if there was a close battle.  And, most of all, that 30 minutes to an hour and a half where you can think about nothing else other than what you are doing at that exact second and maybe the next few seconds.  It’s the only thing I have found so far that calms me down and clears my head.  And, this is from an amateur.  Just like golf, the pros are on a different level.

Morning sail, 20 knots gusts to 30 knots. Reefed quite a bit. Cold (high 30s low 40s). But a really great day. Hauled ass at times. Knocked the rust off. Talked through high wind situations. Navigated well, avoided accidental jibes. Chicken jibed once that was a nice little trick, had some nice runs. Dialed it in. Got more comfortable with heeling. Solid day.

I have no idea what you just said but it actually sounds fun.

I really wanted a G Wagen for the longest time, and then one day I just didn't anymore.

For me, pretty much the exact same. I think it’s because it now has a stigma of a soccer mom grocery getter car.  For her, looked at everything in that class and nothing really jumped out. Several of them are the same damn car just with different fit and finishes.  I really like your 707 but she couldn’t get over the front end.  If money were no object, and I didn’t have a 4 y/o and a golden retriever that manufactures hair, the Cullinan is probably the baddest mf’er out there.  But, I guess it should be.

On another note, my buddy just took delivery of a Grenadier.  No telling what kind of problems it will have due to its newness but it is absolutely bad ass. I’m in love.  Think they hit the mark on exactly what they were trying to build. One major downfall is it needs more power. But, that’s probably fixable.

  12. I’m heading to Snowmass Wednesday until Tuesday with the wife and 4 year old.  Haven’t been there in forever and never with a kid.

Any advice on where to eat, activities besides skiing, best thing to do with a 4 y/o?  Should I start him on a board or ski’s?  Individual lesson or group class?

    Open to any suggestions.

  13. I can finally stop worrying about all the treacherous terrain my wife (no pics) has to negotiate on the way to get hair, nails and Botox done.
Never have been in love with these but it’s actually very nice.  Drives firm, sounds great and has plenty of power.

Has anyone played the Wynn course? I’m looking at it now from my room and it looks immaculate. My afternoon opened up so I called. Tee times available for only $800! My wife can even ride along for only $120!

I have.  Nothing really special other than the name and convenient location.  If $800 (or $920) doesn't mean much to you, have a ball.  It's a nice break from giving the blackjack dealers money.  Otherwise, imo there are a lot of better courses in or near Vegas for the money.

Hah.  Haven’t thought about that boat in forever.  You should have seen its predecessor.  15 ft tri hull outboard with a Home Depot pylon and a trash can for ballast.  College was great!
