Just saw this on Rakestraw’s Twitter.

I'm conflicted on Rakestraw. On one hand, he is a very physical corner that would fit well in press coverage in Ash's system. On the other, he received several pass interference and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the two games i saw him play in. The SLC receivers were getting under his skin so easily that Samples pulled him from the game to calm him down. He seems like he would be a Kris Boyd 2.0 (i.e. great corner, multiple 15 yard penalties).

    OC - Yurcich

    RB - Drayton

    OL - Hand

    WR - Emmet Jones?

    TE - ?

    DC - Ash

    LB - ?

    DT - ?

    DE - Please not Giles

    DB - ?

Isn't keeping Giles the point of having a DT coach? I thought the tone going into the season was that we wanted to keep Giles since he is a good coach, but have a plus recruiter for d-line prospects.

I struggle to see the son of Bill Belichick, a kid who has literally been raised around professional NFL players and practice habits, expectations, etc, being the kind of guy who's going to mesh well with a bunch of 18-22 year old kids learning how to be professionals. And that's before you factor in whether this kid has his old man's same negative charisma and personality, which, well, if the pictures are accurate seems to 100% be the case.

He seems more like the guy with NFL expectations that will dismiss anyone who falls short of that as being an idiot, or a pussy, and run them over and blame them as opposed to doing what it takes to maximize the talent. And we've already had too many of those on staff already, and the biggest one of all is still our head coach. So I could be 100% wrong, the way everyone was about Herm Edwards, but this seems like a bad, bad fucking idea. At least Edwards had an extensive history of working with and wanting to mentor young kids.

I'm guessing you didn't see his interview that went viral last week? He 100% has the same negative charisma and personality.

are we allowed to copy and paste?   Per football scoop, Herman isn’t in a hurry and hasn’t offered anyone.   Harrell and Brady leaks had negative impacts

Remind me what the Brady leak was? Just Anwar throwing shit at a wall and hoping it would stick by saying he is a leading candidate?

Our recruiting class is going to be absolutely wrecked if this is the case. We will lose a ton of our best recruits if we do not fill these positions before NSD1. This would be one of the worst calculations of the Tom Herman era and would seal his fate if he doesn’t get this resolved before then. I’m confident he knows this

I just assume the pursuit of a new TB is a sign that Whittington is heading for the exit.

Is there anything to see here? I've been tuning out team news since the middle of the season. I had no idea until Mehringer got fired that everyone hated him if that shows how tuned out i've been

i assume this means they really are concerned about Ty Jordan leaving or other RBs leaving (then again the only guys they have on campus next year are Danny Young, Ingram, RoJo and Whittington - if any of them leave they are in a bad situation)

Good point, i forgot that RoJo and Whittington weren't even recruited to play the position, so it's not crazy if they bring in 3.

He seems very locked in, Ohio state is very much out and USC with same staff seems like an impossibility. He’s gonna sign with Texas. Also says we are trying for another 2020 rb as an additional take, he said the name initially but deleted it 6 minutes later so not sure who

So Bijan, Ty Jordan, and another RB in the same class?

Super k walking back his Harrell confidence as well now

When was this? I wish they would time stamp their updates on the Open Post.

There was an update to the Open Post today saying:

***Was just told that it’s looking very likely that Harrell will take the Texas job. Was told that the offer is just too good to pass up.

***I gather that the only thing pending right now is a potential counter-offer from USC but if you factor in tax differences and cost of living, USC is going to have get him somewhere near what Helton, himself, is making

Imagine if someone wrote "Carrington has strong African-American ties" as much as the Langi thing for every black kid that came in. It's stupid and bordering on something else. 247 has its shitty style guide that churns every post out like it's a Clarence Thomas concurrence, but that one needs to end.

I've always figured that EJ has a template that he uses for each of his cookie cutter recruiting posts. I imagine it being something like,

"As I have reported earlier, (recruit's name here) will in fact be in Austin this weekend for the annual UTL camp. (position coach/lead recruiter name here) has been working around the clock on this recruitment, and we currently feel confident in our crystal ball picks. **Insert the following sentence if Texas is not in the lead** I am confident that Texas can take the lead this weekend if they hit it out of the park. Bryan Carrington (Jake Langi if recruit is from Hawaii/has Polynesian decent) has been the secret weapon in this recruitment, and it looks like his efforts will play a key role in (recruit's name)'s decision. **Insert sentence about two other schools the recruit is considering and how hard they are pushing**"

A lot of stupid on Surly today. If a kid grows up in a strong Catholic family and having that in college is important to him and his family, picking Notre Dame is not that shocking. It doesn't mean Giles sucks, or Tom can't recruit, or all the other hand wriging going on. It just means that a kid is picking the best fit for himself and his family. Good for him and best of luck.

If Surly is stupid today, then I don't know what to call 247.

Ej and Mike put in CB picks for Arkansas DE Zach Williams

Does anyone know more about this kid? He's not ranked by some of the recruiting sites, and 247 has him as the #42 DE, and #657 overall. But he has a ridiculous offer list (Arky, Bama, Florida, Georgia, TCU, Tennessee) for someone with that low of a ranking.
