  1. Maybe this was already posted but all well. I normally don’t give a fig for bernie but I give the guy credit for saying out loud what cant be said in polite political society:

Kamala lost because she sucks. Donald lost in 2020 because he sucks. Hilary lost in 2016 because she sucks. Everything else is cope. James Comey and the emails, russia, the steal, all cope. We live in an age of cope. What will be the cope this time? Neither party does dick for the common man but we go on swinging the pendulum back and forth in the vain hope that maybe it’ll be different this time. We’ll riot at the capitol over a fake cope but wont lift a finger to challenge the real fraud that gives us these two bunk choices in the first place and even has the audacity to present itself as the bestest noblest system on earth.

  2. The chatter about replacing Joe with Kamala is comical. The woman was so lackluster in the 2020 primary there were 4 or 5 other candidates polling higher than her in her own state before she dropped out. The lessons of 2016 were never learned. These people still absolutely REFUSE to accept the reality that baboon donald's success is solely due to their own worthlessness. If he wins again they're going to push the same delusion on us as last time- it's not that we are shit and everyone hates us! It's Kennedy and Putin's fault!

The Right talks a good game when it comes to freedom but all their policy positions seem to be rooted in taking away rights instead of giving them.

  5. A big news story right now is some big corporations that have announced they will subsidize travel for their employees to go get their little problem taken care of in another state. We won't give you paid leave, and we definitely won't pay you enough to have a family on a single income, but if you want to go to see this nice man in the clinic across the state line just send us the bill 😉 This world is fucked.

Your honesty is appreciated.  It's definitely appreciated by every aspiring authoritarian ruler.  But again, I appreciate your candor.

Lmao I wonder if every aspiring authoritarian ruler appreciates the premise that it is ok to kill undesirables.

Cool.  So, rights of the individual come from the government.  That's the shorthand version of your answer.  We have only those rights our masters choose to grant us.  Cool.

    Yes might makes right

One question for you: is the source of individual rights only an express grant of a right in the plain language of the Constitution? Asked more plainly, is the Constitution the sole font that grants individual rights, and there are no rights of the individual other than those expressly enumerated therein?

For legal rights no I don't think the constitution is the sole font, they can be spelled out by lesser laws than the constitution. I don't think a legal right can exist unless spelled out by a law. As I said in above post I think in this case an attempt was made to build a house on sand.

For rights in more absolute sense ('God-given', 'moral', 'natural' rights etc.) I have no idea where they come from or even if they are real. Like most everyone I act and think as if they are.

Once the right is removed, the consequences are broad.

Maybe it was unwise to create the right ex nihilo using lawyer magic and then stack a whole house of cards on top of it then I dunno just a thought

  10. Shocking (not really) to see the level of dimbulbery that still persists six years later about 2016. Trump winning the primary and the general was only possible because the political establishment represented by luminaries like Hilary and Jeb is SO fucking dogshit that literal tv clown seemed like a preferable alternative. To me this is the only real issue from that election worthy of discussion, not campaign strategies or james comey or russian facebook ads or bernie bros or whatever the fuck else

  11. ... not book clubs but mostly bullshit. Whether there is a kernel of something real there at the heart of it though I don't know.

Where can I do that? Not in the Bible, that’s for sure. No one who wrote anything in the Bible ever met Jesus. No one else has either. Certainly not Josephus. There is literally no evidence that the Jesus in the Bible ever existed. Maybe someone fitting that description did. Maybe he’s a composite of several itinerant preachers from the era. Maybe he’s a pure fabrication created by people who read the prophecies in old Jewish texts and invented that myth to fulfill predictions made by the myths that came before.

I say that there’s no such thing as an historical Jesus. “Prove me wrong.”

    You can’t.

You can say this about any historical figure or even any person you have never met personally. I think this sort of radical skepticism is fun to think about tbh maybe every single thing you have ever read in history books is BS

the Supreme Court isn't some sacred, non-partisan institution

Nonpartisan was always a bad joke of course but as far as sacred the supreme court is the closest thing the United States has to a brahminical high priesthood their job is to provide the final word on exegesis of the Most Sacred Text

The coach was a terrible hire, just like Charlie Strong was. You win by hiring winners. We do it Jerry Jones-style and try to find a bargain. I’m about done spending any money on any of this.
