.As the month of June closes, I sense that Texas fans now understand what we meant when we said this is big boy recruiting. Indeed it is.

Lines like this piss me off.  Were we not doing Big Boy recruiting the last two years?  We were.  We just won more of the battles where Texas was the final one or two or three schools left.  This year we aren't.  It's not a huge thing as we still are sitting solid and we seem (based on the reporting) have a few players lined up that are leaning Texas for now who if we get we would all be ecstatic about.  So what else has changed:

I think losing Choice has had an impact.   I believe in prior years we had our #1 RB locked in by July 1, but it's not like I have gone off and confirmed that.  By all reports, Choice was a very good recruiter.

The Changing NIL Landscape.  - The change in NIL with the settlement and its impact this year has created a unique one-off.  Schools feel that to some extent NIL rules will be equalized this time next year so they are attempting to get in ahead of some of these changes and grandfather in things they think won't count against a cap/etc.  Also in general, Texas was ahead of the game with NIL and support along with a small handful of schools and now other schools are catching up.

I am still not worried in the slightest though because we should hit on a high enough number of elite players to have an elite class overall.  Second, I feel that the staff does an exceptional job at evaluation and some of the players we keep recruiting despite a commitment or circled back to after missing on an initial target (late bloomers or players committed to other schools out of the gate)  the last two years have been good.  I thought TyAnthony Smith, Kobe Black, and Wardell Mack when I was typing this, but truthfully I can't remember.  I'm sure someone in here will correct me if I am wrong.

Finally, the staff seems to do an exceptional job of evaluating its roster and finding a transfer player or two or three to lock down at positions of need.  So even if we have a hole, we seem to do an exceptional job of finding a transfer as the worst case scenario.

  2. Honestly, this might be one of our "worst" weeks in recruiting this year or last year.  And you know what, I give zero fucks.  We are in on lots of big names.  We get some.   Some chose to go elsewhere for various reasons.  The NIL rules this year is going to result in even more fuckery right now than there has been in prior years.

I have faith that Sark and his support staff and the alumni who are contributing to NIL will do just fine by the end of the year.  I have faith they will close just fine come December.

This isn't Mack Brown where we "need a win" in recruiting because he is working so hard on the trail and we don't have a big name recruit on board yet.

Would I prefer some of the promising football players commit here instead of other schools?  Sure.  Do I care because Aggie got a player or two ?  Or (in my best coke head Luicci) Fat Elko won head to head against Sark for the two bestest high school players in the history of ever these last few weeks sending shockwaves through the entire universe that Aggie football is back to where it never left.

Win some lose some.  We will be just fine.

  3. AP is not a great poker player.  That guy is an idiot for trying to fight him.  Not because he's a former professional athlete, but because it probably is cutting into his profits.

If hypothetically I was AP and I got into a fight at a poker club, the last thing I would want is that stupid card room to blast the video on the internet.

And as always with fight videos, fire the video guy.

This is a good point and it’s almost a constant with how the SEC honks cover Texas in every sport and damned near every subject. I imagine it could take these mouthbreathing rubes decades to get a handle for how things are now going to work. The dynamic has changed, dummies.

We only win recruiting anymore because of money.  No one chooses this school because it's a great school in a great city with a great alumni base with a great coaching staff that has huge results recently both on the field and in the draft.  (and I am sure does also pay competitively...lol)

  5. I can't criticize Tech for going nuclear on softball in NIL the same way all of the rest of the country has tried to do in football, LSU has done in baseball, some schools have done in basketball.

I get it they are tampering, likely coordinating with coaches, etc.  I sure will look forward to whatever body of enforcement is going to do anything about it.

I guess I just don't believe that other schools aren't doing the exact same thing in other sports.

Everything he's doing will result in less power for Donald Trump and Republicans in January 2027.

I'm not sure that's effective leadership.

That's what we were told after the first four years and January 6, but yet here we are today.

Look IMA is right.  Trump is a great leader.  He leads by brute force and authoritarian means and has gotten 98% of the right to walk in line with whatever he desires.  Yes it's only 35% of the country, but that 35% is ride or die.  No one has ever solidified the 35% the way he has.  The first four years to the extent that he had grown ups that would reign in his bullshit, he ran those people off and now has a collection of yes man willing to do his personal bidding.

He has probably done more damage to our democratic institutions and norms this year than had likely been done to our country in the last 50 years.  Yet still the vast majority of the right will not do anything but exactly what he says.  That is leadership.  Mafia style leadership, but leadership nonetheless.

As a result, he has personally enriched himself and some select few that he wants immensely.  That is all he cares about.

  7. I am going to vote for the America I want and not the America I think the rest of America will tolerate or accept.  So I am going to likely vote for Mayor Pete if he decides to run.

I understand Brisket's argument here.  But I can't fully agree that the voters will never vote for someone who is black or a woman b/c of the last election and the response to Obama.  I think it washes away the multitude of mistakes made by Democrats, the Harris campaign, Biden, over the last four years or better yet the last twenty.

I will likely regret this decision, but that is where I am.

  8. I thought those write ups were completely honest.  The recruits loved the visit and everything about it.  Didn't commit. Have other officials lined up and even though they hit it out of the park it will be a battle to the finish line.

Translation - no one who visited is committing there.
