I've been very wary of Houston poker for a while. Many of the rooms rake, much of the management have questionable histories, and security and clientele are a problem at many of the clubs. I fear these clubs will ruin it for everyone. We're lucky in Austin relative to them.

You are not wrong IMHO.  About 2/3 of the rooms in town seem to rake nowadays.  As a result, I only play in rooms that do not rake (TCH - Spring and Spades - Webster primarily)  I think they all feel its ok following the Post Oak/Prime debacle of a raid by the DA's office, but I think that is dumb as fuck as a lawyer.  And I say that as someone more nitty who likely benefits from a rake format as opposed to an hourly fee.

I did when they opened.  I clocked quite a few hours with some of their early promotions, but then I noticed a stink.   First, the owner of the place left California for a myriad of reasons including losing his gaming license.  Not a great start.  Then, when you play there it seemed pretty obvious there were multiple house players.  Several instances of what appeared to be pretty soft play with people they all seemed to know. They also repeatedly let tables get short so that they can have Poker Atlas show a large number of tables.  In other words, keep six tables of six players instead of breaking one or two of those tables.  Finally, the location is quite possibly one of the worst amongst Houston poker rooms from a security stand point and that was before the armed robbery attempts there.

So yeah, decided after my hours ran that I was never going back and haven't regretted it since.

Also, if you have a dealer like that in your game, he's throwing the good cards to a particular player so it should be easy to figure out who he is rigging the deck to benefit.  No follow up with the player and the house's prior issues makes me think it's a house player.

there was one really consistent piece of feedback I got yesterday. A LOT of people like OTF because it's SUPER inclusive and there is no sidebar bullshit or drama between the posters. They are there to be fans and get info and interact with the OTF team, not to talk shit or disagree with each other on hot takes. I think by and large they represent the majority of the fanbase, want to stay current, love the horns, but don't necessarily have many of their own opinions - reflects the gen pop well.

    I guess that's why I post here.

If I read that right, his dad is a cop. Can anyone prove he was driving his vehicle? That was how a buddy in hs got out of essentially the same deal. Rolled his truck while drunk. Fled the scene. They found his truck and he plead ignorance. Nothing came of it.

It was his dad's vehicle who called in after accident to report that it was involved.  I suspect cop dad is smart enough not to admit who was driving.

Police Report also has several people whose names are redacted in car with Sweat all college aged so there might be some more fallout from this if those are current players (though getting in a car with Sweat or Burrell is really stupid, but they weren't driving).  Now that people know details and they are more reported, I suspect Burrell will be charged shortly.

  5. I don't hate this season like a lot of you.  Now that most of the reveal is known, I think they clearly could have done a much better run up through the first four episodes spacing some of it.  It just feels a bit like the first four episodes were a slog and it truly felt like they were getting no where on the actual investigation all for the entire house of cards to be dropped this last episode.

I posted this on the FB board but will post it in a few threads here too:

Some of us just sorted a whole bunch of NIL stuff for the 2024 cycle for Texas football on behalf of everyone else. Texas roster management is elite in CFB at this point. Everyone should sleep easy about transfers and people leaving.  Other schools, almost all of them, cannot say what I just said.

Praise be to Sarkisian, Billy Glasscock, Brandon Harris, Texas BMDs, CDC, the TOF and some random, ragtag rapscallions who had the audacity to say “fuck it, this is happening and we are doing this motherfucking thing and damn the consequences”, and Bobby Burton.

As a poor, I appreciate it how much effort a lot of you put into this venture.  Sark and CDC have paying positions but so many people involved are going above and beyond and can't be thanked enough for their efforts
