Bru McCoy and Mater Dei on ESPNU right vs. Bishop Gorman.

Bryce Young can run the ball, but looks like he couldn't hit a barn if he threw a bus at it.

On the one pass he caught, McCoy looks like he could play some receiver.

I came away impressed. Mater Dei destroyed Bishop. Could also see why teams are wanting Bru to play LB. He can do it all. Wouldn’t mind having him on the 40 acres

Andrew Fitzgerald is retiring. Another spot open.

    Ugh, just ugh:

Is this normal with a coaching staff change? I realize these players are buried in the depth chart but just curious. I didn’t follow it as closely with CS took over. Did this attrition happen then also?

Solid hattipping of Kareem Hunt. If only Texas recently had a worldbeating, lowly starred TB that annihilated the competition with a subpar coaching staff and OL.

My thoughts as soon as a I read the comment.... 2 years ago we had a RB that justice hill couldn’t hold a candle to. Who was also low rated and developed.  What’s this guys point? Down 1 year at RB position and we need to be like Gundy. Oh lawd

  4. Scrimmage Sourced Notes (UPDATED 2:21 PM)By: Super KPosted on: August 18, 2018

Alex and I will add more as we get them. Here’s a few to start.

***Offense won today! Yes, you heard that right.

***I’m told Boyce started at CB in place of Davis who is still out.

***I’m told D’Shawn Jamison took a jet sweep 70 yards. Told he actually scored twice today.

***Starting OL from left to right was m: Anderson, Vahe, Shackleford, Rodriguez and Cosmi

***Sounds like Buechele had a great day moving the ball, moving the chains. Waiting to hear on the other QBs

    ***No interceptions were thrown today!

    UPDATE (12:36 PM)

***Looks like the top three running back rotation was Tre Watson and Kirk Johnson at the top followed by Keontay Ingram with Daniel Young in that 4th spot. I think those are going to be your top 4.

***Heard from multiple sources that the running backs had a great day.

***One source said Tre and Kirk were the two best of the scrimmage and added Kirk is definitely a top 3 back if he’s healthy.

***Interestingly, another source seemed to really like Keontay Ingram. Either way, again, it sounds like those three are your top three in some order.

    UPDATE (2:21 PM)

***Another sourced added that Jamison had a really nice day in the slot…mentioned the jet sweeps.

***But source said that Joshua Moore was also really good in the slot. Said, unlike Jamison, Moore is a better pure receiver/route runner. No surprise there. I’m going to check but they may have moved Heard outside. Again, let me check that.

***Also was told Cam Rishing looked really good today. Source said, “He stayed in the pocket instead of taking off and running. Was going through his read, even getting to second and third reads and then delivering”

Post a pic. Dick's has a $10 off $50 online deal right now which makes those shoes $100 + tax = $108. Don't see any other discounts.

I tried it and got same thing you got. I have a screen shot of an order but don’t k kw how to share it on here. I’ll look more into it and share it when I figure it out

Safe to say if wilson flips, it won’t be to Texas.

I wouldn’t bet the house on it, I know all the “reports” but this one isn’t over. Texas isn’t completely out. If Texas shows up on offense then Wilson will be thinking

  7. This was a Good read.

    Per TFB

To be honest, starting to feel more and more optimistic about this team and the prospects for this season and the future.

***I asked a source, very simply, is this offense actually better than last years.

The answer I received was equally as simply but the most exciting sourced note I’ve received in a while…

“The offense is light years ahead of where it was last year”.

***While they aren’t starter, two guys I’m hearing a lot about in recent days in Junior Angilau and Sam Cosmi. Texas just hasn’t had enough guys in the past number of years to be elite on the offensive line and certainly haven’t had enough depth. What I’m hearing about Angilau and Cosmi makes me more optimistic about the kind of talent that’s coming into the program.

Source said, “Angilau is f***** special. Him and Cosmi are competing in a way that is, frankly, exciting. The future is bright with those guys. You’ll see them this year. They may not be starters but they’re creating more intense competition and they’re guys who mark an upward trend in the cieling of offensive linemen at Texas”.

***Related to the note above, a source praised Keondre Coburn saying, “Keondre penetrates. People do not stop Keondre Coburn when he bull rushes”.

Although apparently, Angilau is not “people” because I’m told he straight stoned Coburn yesterday at practice.

***I know some have been asking about why Calvin Anderson isn’t running with the 1st team when the media is at practice and what it might mean.

I was told once again, “That is Calvin’s spot” regardless of the current rotation. Source added that while our guys have seen Okafor at left tackle, “Okafor is going to be your right tackle”.

***Texas needs as many weapons as possible on the offensive side of the ball and I’m told a guy to keep on eye on is freshman, Keontay Ingram. It sounds like, based on his current development trajectory, he is, at some point in camp or this season, going to surge up the depth chart.

One source said, “his feet and vision are elite. In fact he sees so much that sometimes he wants to do too much instead of just taking the yards that are there. He’s just not disciplined right now because he sees so much and he wants it all.”

But again, I’m told he’s going to make a move up the depth chart if he continues on his current path.

***I’m told Kris Boyd is just vicious. He’s hitting anything that moves. Was told at one point yesterday he destroyed the blocker, kept his feet moving and then destroyed the ball carrier.

***Source also talked about how in the second year in Orlando’s defense more guys are further along in their understanding of what Orlando wants. That means, more guys can play faster. I’m told that despite the losses, they are not only playing faster but they’re even more violent…

Given our offense's performance over the last few years, I wouldn't say Wilson's comments make him an idiot. I disagree with him but I understand where he is coming from.

May have been reading him wrong but I believe he was calling you an idiot lol.

I dont think Mehringer or Beck is a problem for Wilson. It is my understanding it has more to do with his lack of belief in the offense as a whole and whether the offense will be good enough to showcase / develop his skills for an NFL career.

yes correct, BUT all over the internet the rumor is Mehringer burned the bridge. Talking about former players leaving etc. So this says otherwise is all

My biggest bets all come from the OU game. Best way to figure out how to bet is to spend a week listening to WWLS in Oklahoma City. If they're really arrogant and Texas is the underdog then bet the farm on Texas. Craziest thing I've ever done was put $1000 on Texas +13.5 against OU in 2013 but I pretty much doubled my money.

so damn true. I obviously  listen daily because its all i have here in Oklahoma but traber and Al Ashbeck are tools. i called in last year asking what they thought Texas record would be. it got comical.  May try your ways this year
