UT lost three games by one score, all of which they could have won (even OU, despite getting gang-raped at the LOS again), had Turtle FUCKING Tom not been such an implacable ignoramus. STFU about the social stuff. Tom Herman was the problem, including the win-loss record, and most of the social/EoT/isolated Sam fiasco.

Fuck that guy and thank God he's gone.

That’s why I said it wasn’t all their fault. My main point was they weren’t focused on winning.

Doesn’t matter anymore though. It’s a new era. Hoping it works out.

Just going to go ahead and point out that that font of terrible taeks and general bad-tempered assholery is only 14 negs away from a crowd ban.

Do with that what you will.

I got negged to oblivion this summer for calling out our players for being to wrapped up in the BLM protests and that we would probably suck in football this past season. I know it wasn’t all their fault but I was right. Neg away.

    Counterpoint,

the difference in quantity and quality of poon that’s going to throw itself at him the next 4 years at UT v Yale is so vast that all your points mean nothing to a red blooded 18 year old male.

Ehhhh the talent at UT is spare. Definitely not Yale spare but definitely spare. It happens when you have high academic standards.

I understand everyone loves Samples for recruiting but is there a shred of evidence that he can develop WRs on a championship-level team?

No. There’s absolutely no evidence that Samples is worth a damn as a coach. He’s the “John Chiles should starts” of coaches.

  5. 16 hours ago, ztejas said:

Yep. Top programs tend to have QBs in the wings just waiting for their # to be called.

Which is why letting Samples go was kind of a fuck up regardless of whether their handling of the QB room was or not. But you already underlined the real fuck up - which is another year of shitty results that doesn't keep any of these kids excited about the program. They watch (insert regional team here) play and think "hey - that looks like more fun AND I could move up the depth chart!"

This is it. There’s no real reason to stick around here. Our program and leadership is weak so why not go to SMU to get playing time and also win more games. There’s just not a lot to be excited about at Texas. Lose 4-5 games a year and not get developed as a player.

    This.

For anyone who still wants Urban, this provides cover for NSD and allows OSU to finish their season.

The ambiguity of the statement gives me more hope that Urban is still in play.

This sounds similar to my Qanon mother in law telling everyone to just wait until election fraud is proven and Trump continues as President. Ain’t happening!

I hope most parents would agree with me when I say race really isn't a part of this discussion. I would expect a fellow parent, or any competent adult,  to come to my children's aid as I would theirs. I'm not so naïve as to say "I never see a person's color" because none of us were raised in a vacuum. But I'm trying to work through the wrong things my dad tried to teach me and even his racist ass would have put himself at personal risk for a child, any color child. It makes no difference what color the coach was nor the kid. The coach was wrong. Children don't get punched for failing to execute in sports. I can't change how others see it or react to it if the coach and kid  are of different races. Nor can I can't speak for persons of a historically oppressed race. It just seems there are situations that transcend all of it, like little kids being hurt by adults.

Race definitely plays a part here.  If I (white guy) attack that black coach then I'll be on the news next day labeled as a racist bigot.  However, if it was a white coach then they would say that I stepped in and helped a poor defenseless child from an unbridled angry white coach.  Its the world we live in.

I'm a SoCal boy 100%, but I've had 1 boss in my life, that if he called and asked me to move across the country to work for him, I would go.

    Maybe Urbs is that boss.

What do you do for a living?

Either this guy has pretty much made up his mind, and it's a formality, or he will ask for time to "think it over" (or use that ploy for any remaining perks) - I think if he were a "leaning no" or no by now he'd simply decline the possibility outright.  There's no question that he probably knows 99.9% of what his contract would offer/include.

With some hope to scrape up the last scraps of a horrible recruiting tack so far this year, I can easily see a decision announced later today or tomorrow with the caveat that Herman's dismissal would be announced just before and Ash or someone takes over now.  It's so meaningless that Caden Stearns could take over as coach, so the step of firing Herman is nothing.  I think his buyout goes down $3mil today (not sure if now or midnight), and that will have something to do with it.

My gut is if it happens, it'll be Wed or after, or a day or two after the KSU game this weekend (these things are usually announced on weekends).

But one thing is for certain - it won't matter when the official announcement is, if he accepts, it'll come out like the Noadic flood... with all the leakers (including current staff) out there, the official announcement would simply be a formality.  So people would be 100% sure before such presser.

And I LOVE Whataburger, but alas, I don't eat'em much because Bret Bielema and Mark Mangino recommend them on their diets.

I feel like Sterns would be slow to accept the offer.

Did you even read my actual post or are you just bent out of shape about these guys opting out because they don't have Uncle Rico fantasies like you do, and are  determined to whine and cry? Don't be disingenuous. Okafor was a guy who was drafted in the mid-rounds out of Texas and outperformed his draft position as he's received proper NFL coaching. There's probably a dozen guys that fit this bill. Sterns very well could be the next one. Which was, of course my point.

If you want more direct comparisons of guys who came in with a bunch of hype, looked good early on, and never lived up to their potential at Texas, then you've got Collin Johnson (had 100 yards this week for Jax) and Malcolm Brown, and I'm sure plenty of others that I'm forgretting. Are you going to be petty and dishonest, or actually address the overarching point?

Do you think that Sterns has received good coaching during his career at Texas?

    Chill Brad.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how did you rank Herman when it was announced that he was our new head coach four years ago?

I thought we fucked up the first hire of an ex-Urban assistant.  No way we would screw it up again.

In all honesty, I was excited.  I was worried after watching UH play that year though.  There were some real boneheaded losses.

Yes but there was a reason why USC was thought to be undefeatable. I think we had more top end talent on both sides of the ball, and I'm a large Reggie Bush fan. Then there was 12-0 with Young and Young. Thomas and Sweed. Lots o olinemen. And in 2005, we only had 26 points after 54 minutes. Yep made for history but what the hell are you doing the 1st 54.

Lots of greatness in there but way too many wth moments. RB, Dline, DB were loaded. Oh and pretty good at QB too.

It should have taken more than 1 hand to count the conference champs.

What exactly is a "large Reggie Bush fan"?  Are you heavy? Tall?  Is there a big & tall Reggie Bush fan club?

  13. It feels like MuthaHustla sees Byron as her meal ticket.  She's not going to let him ride the pine for another couple years.  I think she will be disappointed though.  If Byron couldn't get meaningful PT at LB with the shit show we have trotting out there then how the hell is he gonna make it in the NFL?

To try and pry this topic away from Taylor 247...

I was all in on this season, thinking it was there for the taking.  Then we shit the bed against Tech, but win.  Lose to a 3-3 TCU team and play like absolute shit against a very beatable OU team.  Now we have crept back in to the top 25 (up one whole place to 21 this week!!!) and somehow I am supposed to be happy about our shot at a Big 12 title (HAHAHAHA).  I'm not at all.

This fucking sucks worse than just losing out, because I can't stand to watch this shit product.  @closetojumping was right.  Only Herman could manage to make this season this fucking miserable.  I mean I would love to win the Big 12, but I am not jumping back on the bandwagon only to have Tom DUI flip the thing into the fucking ditch again.

I have no idea what is going to happen, but I am almost to the point with Texas Football that I have been for the last 2 years with Texas Basketball.  I just flat out don't care.  I mean I care enough to make this post, but not enough to be involved in any meaningful way.

I need Taylor to hold me close to those big fake tittys and tell me Tom is going away...

I'm the same way.  We've won the past 3 weeks and I don't give a damn.  I'm actually pissed off when we win.  I don't want Tom to pull something out of his ass and make it harder for him to get fired.

Gawdamighty.  Until this assclown, 99.9% of Americans would have had sufficient respect for the office not to flip off the president in his limo at close range.  Let alone a regular-looking kinda chick by herself (as opposed to a bunch of counter-culture types).

Bullshit.  This country was as much divided during the Bush 2.0 years and definitely during Obama's years.  One side hates the other and vice versa.  There is no peace between our two groups.
