  1. The global play during any outbreak of a new disease is in the very early stages all international travel should be banned. Give a window for people who are citizens of a country to return to that country but they are immediately placed under forced quarantine. The world's best in the field immediately go to work on figuring the new disease out and once it's contained open things back up.

Of course this will never happen. We'll keep punching ourselves in the dicks. This is the 3rd coronavirus to pop up out of nowhere in the last 17 years so you know there's more coming very soon.

Yeah just draft a star wr and star qb as well. It’s so easy, you should totally run an nfl team. And by “run an NFL team” I mean you’re a moron and couldn’t run a Taco Bell

Nobody said star receiver. But at 17 the odds of getting a damn good receiver are higher if your evaluation isn't shit.

Having a CB that only gave up 300+ yds all last season and started every game plus a DE who showed he can get to the QB effectively opposite Tank would be much better use of the money over a WR who disappears on the road and against any CB worth a shit, and a RB with behavioral issues that has never started a season fit even when he wasn't over paid. The RB that turned in a mediocre season immediately after signing the biggest RB contract ever.

As far as the QB Dak is a good QB but paying a good QB elite QB money harms their chances of winning a title. But you have to do it unless you're willing to trade him and very visibly and obviously tank the season for Lawrence. Those are the only two options that make any sense.

This is obviously over your head and beyond your grasp so you should sit it out.

As you probably know, even a 1st round receiver (that's not a generational talent) is very unlikely to contribute much for 1-2 years.

We all saw how the cowboys offense and Dak looked before Cooper. It was pretty much a no-brainer move to resign him.

Theyre in a rebuilding situation with their secondary in shambles, linebacker looking weak, and an aging and decimated expensive O line.

Even if they make good draft picks for the next 2 drafts it'll be a year or two until they can improve the team enough to challenge for anything. The sooner or Judy or whoever is there at 17 has a good chance to be solid year 1 and good year 2.

ok, so i came on this thread a year ago, and since then, we've been on roku + directvnow (attnow) with no issues.  even a couple months later, when they dropped some channels (or made it more expensive to get the channels i had already agreed to get and pay for), i was able to keep the same package, with $5 or $10 more a month.  fine, whatever.  still way cheaper than cable was for us (we went from $55 to $65).

but i just realized i no longer have mlb network.  and i looked at the chart: https://cdn.directv.com/content/dam/dtv/gmott/html/dynamic_channels/compare-packages-account-dbs.html

and see that it's no longer part of the $65 package, but instead, is part of the $110 package (seems reasonable to pay $45 extra a month for mlbn).  and it's really fucking annoying, because other channels like amc that switched over - i was grandfathered in and never lost or got charged more.

has anyone else had this happen?  i assume there's no way to fight which channels you just fucking lose.  do the comparable packages on youtubetv, etc have mlbn?  i'm not sure if it's a dealbreaker that will make me switch, but it's highly annoying, and not something i would ever just stream (like i would for a game).

Going to streaming isn't cutting the cord if you're still paying the same people who were fucking you over on the cord. They're going to fleece you for content the same just in a 21st century way now. The only way to avoid it is going black hat.

Well I did some googling and found this.  Apparently this is AMC licensing out a current season to make $$.  Ridiculous.

    Season 5

Due to licensing restrictions, new episodes of Better Call Saul Season 5 will only be available for limited timeframes on AMC.com and AMC Apps

So you just pay $20/ month and it is some magic key that gets any programming with no additional fee?  Sounds like I'm missing something.

yeah you'll be fine until whoever runs the server (illegally) has to cut and run.  then you're stuck with a paperweight.

Not if you know how to program it yourself and where to find new ones. There's always new ones popping up. Most of the time as soon as a provider gets a cease and desist letter they shut down and reopen with different name, URL, and virtual server locations. It's a fruitless game of whack-a-mole.

plus you get the satisfaction of knowing you're playing your part to fuck over a souless greedy billionaire corporation that steals our tax money with corporate bailouts from the politicians they paid off while fucking us over on the front end with overpriced garbage.

One benefit of not living in Dallas would be that I wouldn’t frequent threads that Junior and Drew go to. Their opinions are terrible, simple and retarded. Or in the case of Junior meant to be so contrarian that they’re inflammatory.

Amazing how it's the idiot who never has an idea worth a shit who always tears down those who do. You should change your name again but this time to "surly's trump"

But that’s the problem we already see in Dak. He’s not special, but the QB “market” dictates that he is paid like he is. It’s ridiculous.

It's definitely what the NFL current model says to do, but all of the evidence seems to point to that model of paying a good quarterback elite money just because everyone else does actually hinders your ability to compete for a title.

I'd really like to see a team try just constantly going to rookie deal quarterbacks until they can build up a contending team around one or hit on an actual elite one.

I think your point is a pretty fair one but Jimmy G is on a monster deal and the 49ers still did alright last year. But there's no doubt that having your QB go from making $600k to $35m makes things a lot harder. I wonder if we'll ever see a team let a promising young QB walk after his rookie deal? The fans would absolutely crucify whoever did it.

They did but that was mostly with my second point where the GM put an absolute murderers row of rookie contract defensive talent together. In the end though it was their overpaid quarterback that killed them.

I'm beginning to wonder if the NFL has it completely backwards. where QB shouldn't be paid much unless they show they are top three or four in the entire league level. So you're Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes level QBs should get the money but anything lower than that should get contracts that allow the team to spend in free agency to build a competitive team around him. I wonder if in the future the NFL will come to that realization that it's better to be bad and draft a QB every year while building a solid team around the QB position and just change them out for a rookie deal one until you hit a top-level guy. Or build such a strong team around a mediocre quarterback that you can contend for a title anyway.

It just seems like paying a good-but-not-great level QB a ton of money makes it virtually impossible to then build a monster team around the QB position. And you need at least a great QB or a great team around the QB position to win a title.

I agree that I don’t want to pay Dak what he wants, but this is a bad example (ESPECIALLY Wilson). When you say haven’t won shit, what exactly do you mean? Because if you’re talking Super Bowls, how many different qbs have even won a super bowl?

Wentz proved he was worth that contract last year and in his 2nd year. Matt Ryan was an MVP. Stafford and Carr definitely shouldn’t have gotten the money they got, and I feel like both are firmly in Dak’s tier. Stafford is a lot better IMO, but he’s never had a running game or an offensive line like Dak has. We’re heading in that direction pretty soon, so we’ll see if I’m right or not. Plus, he’s played his entire career for an organization that has to be in the discussion for least competent in all of sports.

Wilson is a much better QB than Dak (and all the rest on there) but his team isn't even on the level to compete for the title once he got paid. They're a fringe playoff team. It takes a special GM and special QB to overcome having that much salary tied into one player. When Wentz was cheap his backup was able to lead the team to a title. Now that he got paid they won't win shit unless the GM strikes gold and puts a monster team of young underpaid draft picks together.

if only there was some sort of way to test people. ahh, nevertheless.

We'll never know where we stand on this because we'll never have enough tests. We need enough tests to properly sample hundreds of thousands out of a few million population area to get a proper evaluation. That'll never happen with this shit administration.

I wouldn't be surprised if this lingers, millions die in 12 months, and Biden is president and dealing with this shit 10 months from now.

  12. Holy shit that was light. And Big John was sure he'd do at least a little time.

In the end the only color that matters most in this country is green. At this point I was hoping he'd just go away. His fights suck, he's a cheater, he gets gifted wins by just surviving, and he's a complete scumbag. There's nothing interesting about this guy anymore

Please don't bring logic into this! Not allowed for many. Russell Wilson right now in per year salary, is the highest paid QB at $35million. But Matt Ryan has the most guaranteed money of any player. Wentz is at $32. Dak was going to get more than him and deservedly so. He's put in way more work than Wentz. People get way too caught up in these labels of "highest paid player!!!!: That shit lasts a year. Stafford and Derek Carr were once the highest paid players. And now look. Who fucking cares. The QB market is skyrocketing. The salary cap will keep rising. People have no concept of this at all.

Ryan, Wentz, Stafford, Carr, and even Wilson...

What are QBs who don't win shit once they get overpaid.

  14. A conservative evangelical pastor has suggested to his followers that God will help multiply their toilet rolls amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In a clip posted to Twitter, pastor Rodney Howard-Browne, leader of the Florida-based Revival Ministries International, told his congregation that “this should be a time of supernatural sustenance, where what you have in your hand will multiply.”

“And every day there will be multiplications,” he continued. “You look at your toilet paper and you think I’m going to run out of toilet paper, but you have another roll where that one was and you don’t know how did that even take place.”

Howard-Brown added: “Are the toilet paper rolls getting together and having families now? What is taking place? When you look again, there’s still enough. You think you’re going to run out but when you look again there’s still enough. That’s supernatural sustenance.”
