  1. I’m okay with it because it’s not like Texas hasn’t had the benefit of playing the post season at home.
  2. IMO it has more to do with recruiting/evaluating the right DS. I’ve always been a person that believed coaching to an extent is overrated. There’s not that many ways to teach someone how to receive serve/control the ball. I always believed that most players come into college with the skill to do so.
  3. They have that rep but personally I didn’t think Texas lost today strictly because of it.
  4. Again, I thought the serve receive was solid most of the match until the end of sets.
  5. Jerritt has his flaws but there’s no question he would win and be successful in any conference.
  6. I thought that he was saying that this was a normal practice in all of women’s volleyball.
  7. Watching the matches over the years it pretty obvious that Coach Elliott has given more and more of the reins to Sullivan each year.
  8. So what you’re saying is that Sullivan a guy that’s played and Coached at a high level at other schools doesn’t know what he’s doing.
  9. Not to mention its not like BYU is playing the Brazilian team every match in their conference.
  10. I’m not buying that. He won at USC with players that he helped recruit.
  11. Interesting, I don’t think the Coach before Elliott took advantage of this supposedly great recruiting advantage of being in ATX. And last time I checked recruiting is a part of coaching. The coach that got fired at Oregon right? Every coach has their strengths and weakness.
  12. I did not know that. Since that is the case if seems like Coach Elliott and his staff have to do a better job of evaluating the position.
  13. Agreed. I would be all for replacing Elliott if there was 100 % certainty that a coach would do better. And you also have to keep in mind that Stanford has the built in advantage of great academics for women athletes which is very important in the women sports that don’t get paid a lot professionally.
  14. Okay, ball control wasn’t good, right? And I’ve always felt like Elliott didn’t recruit the DS position well in terms of scholarships.
  15. Absolutely. You have to figure that home court advantage is worth at least 2 points maybe even 3. This match is a 5 setter if played on a neutral court.
  16. So who are you going to get that you know for 100 % certainty that he or she will do better than Eilliot and win championship’S
  17. I’m lost, because I didn’t seeing the obvious deficiencies defensively in this match. And of course BYU is going to have more digs when Texas has almost 20 blocks. I’m not saying the back row defense doesn’t need to improve, I just didn’t see it with this match. The home court in my opinion was the difference.
  18. Yeah, BYU is the same way. It’s the reason that I think it’s going to be a long night for Texas.
  19. A tough matchup for Texas playing BYU at home. I think Texas has to be almost flawless to win and I just don’t see that happening. I just don’t think this is a good matchup for Texas. Also White needs to scrap the jump serve.
  20. Great News The fact that we'll have both for a couple of years is even better.
  21. Wish it was a better looking win but I’m sure they’ll take. I didn’t watch the match but from reading here it seems the passing was a little better. The serving for this team has obviously become mental like having the yips in golf. Year after year of talking about the same issues with the team is frustrating as a fan. Hopefully Coach Elliott will finally address the SR, ball control, and defense by recruiting better in that area or as some of you have said by hiring new coaches. It’s always been the elephant in the room and it will continue to be until it some how is eventually addressed.
  22. The word Entitled is right, especially if you think that Texas fans should call Coach Elliott out like you said as if he’s been stinking up the joint like Herman. But I agree with sunset87. IMO it’s about being able to correctly identify quality Liberos/DS. I think that most players that are good defensively/passing come into college with that ability. There’s only so many ways that you can teach a player how to receive serve. And it’s pretty hard for me to believe that Coaches like Elliott and Sullivan that have not only coached at a high level but also played don’t know what the hell they’re doing in that area. And as far as Lexi Sun is concerned, let’s MOVE ON.
