This is a ranked team that played Coastal well and beat Iowa State handily last year. Billy Napier will be a first call for open positions next year. They will punch our lights out if we let them.

This is a ranked team that also had 1 score games with Georgia State, Georgia Southern, UAB, Arky St, Appy St, and UTSA

I keep thinking of what Scipio has been going on about all offseason, that ULL beat ISU last year by press man coverage on the outside. Our receivers under Herman were terrible about getting off the jam at the line. I expect them to have better coaching and Sark to scheme them away from jams the rough motion, but combined with the new QB it gives me pause about how effective out offense will be on Saturday. Scipio also had ULL as the 3rd most likely loss on our schedule, more due to where we’ll be as a team in the first game than the quality of the opponent. He thinks we should be happy with any win in this game, even a close one.

I’m a little more optimistic than that, because I do think our defense won’t let us lose this game, but I do expect the offense to struggle a bit out of the gate. I’m going with 27-13. Take the under, and if we go over it’s because our offense is a lot better than I expect it to be and we win in a runaway.

Offense may be sluggish as far as getting the passing game clicking, but we still have a rushing attack. ULL may have a shit ton of returning starters, but they also were 88th in run defense last year (while facing sun belt OL’s and RB’s). If we can’t establish a ground game vs their rush defense, then we have some pretty big issues. We should be able to dominate LOS on both sides of the ball this game. IMO, this game should be a 17+ victory without our passing game needing to be anything special.

I love when people use detailed data tables like this to make their wild guesses look more scientific or informed than...well...wild guesses.

There is literally almost no information to support that Casey improves our chances of getting to 9 wins over Card. Yes, he's a Jr and Card a freshman, but none of us have seen either play enough to say what they're capable of today.

What this article assumes is that Sark is betting on Card as the better long term option despite Casey being a better option today. As far as I can tell, this is based on nothing more than Casey's bowl performance and the fact that he's older. Neither of those means anything in the context of this offense.

Time will tell if Card was the right call, but it bugs me that so much is being assumed about the competition between two players who we really haven't seen operate this offense. Sark's expertise is specifically this position. If Card is his bet, I'll trust it until he proves I shouldn't.

Simply too many variables involved to be able to come up with an accurate chart. Cherry picked data can show whatever you want.

  4. Meh…. It’s football, so I had to pick someone to make it worth my time to watch. Simply picked Illini due to listening to “bussin with the boys” podcast recently and had to sit through Will Compton having Bo Pelini on, and then leaking their vagina juice everywhere on how Texas and officials “screwed” them out of the 2009 B12CG53396C8F-B27D-4CFA-952B-D82117BAD5E6.thumb.jpeg.b7dcfdde62f3f0378f77afbf08aa00dd.jpeg
