  1. The sound is really excellent in this film.   The sound of the AR-style rifles alone were noticeably accurate, unlike most movies.

  2. For those who have seen it, it was a little unclear to me which "side" Jesse Plemon's character was on.  I believe it was the "United States" and not the Western Forces.  That right? Effectively blurring the lines among which side was in the "right"?

  3. Went to Slowbone yesterday for their Thursday special "Mexique" which was pretty damn good.  Huge homemade flour tortillas stuffed with brisket, sausage and turkey, served with salsas, guac, cilantro/onions.  I will be back next Thursday it was that excellent.  One of them was big enough for a lunch but I knocked down 2.  Is a great combo of tacos/bbq and one of the best lunches I've had in a while.

I need to watch it. A couple years ago as he was concluding his 18th season, he gave an interview in which he praised Flood for developing him more in the short time they were together than in all his cumulative football activity prior. He’s a really sharp guy.

Yes, very sharp guy, and the interview will definitely make you appreciate what we have in Coach Flood

  5. For somebody looking to upgrade their home system (for LPs and streaming, almost exclusively), can anyone recommend a store in the Dallas area?  Is my first real experience into the hi-fi world.   I've been to Audio Concepts, which is very cool but feel like budget needs to be about $100k there, so looking for anything else that's between A.C. and Best Buy.  Thanks in advance.

You want me to tell you about A&M? This pretty well sums it up.  Over on TexAgs right now there's a thread in which Aggies are earnestly arguing the superiority of white, male, Christian culture.  It's pretty amazing reading some of the comments. Some of them are arguing that society has penalized them for being white, Christian males.

Ok.  Sorry, not been at a laptop all weekend.

I love Le Bernardin, but it is definitely old school.  I have not been (it is on my list), but I have heard excellent things about SAGA.

I have done the tasting at Gabriel Kreuther, and I really enjoyed it.

Le Coucou was absolutely stunning when I was going pre-COVID.  Have not been since they reopened, but the food and dining space were stunning.

My wish list right now, places I want to hit up are:

Tatiana (reservations are tough to get, open up 30 days in advance)

Kono (Yakitori tasting menu in Chinatown)

    Raf's

    Foul Witch

Restaurant Yuu (French Omakase by a Japanese Chef with French bonafides)

Ilis (Noma cofounder's new place in Greenpoint)

    House Brooklyn (French/Japanese fusion)

    Francie

    Clover Hill

    Department of Culture

The places I love and go to for solid, fun meals:

    Le Rock

    Frenchette

    Claude

    Cafe Chelsea

    King

    Crown Shy

    thanks for the reccs!
