Podcast was good, you can tell they're testing the waters on how casual they can be and how much they can get away with vs. on air. Something I'll need to get past is how their voices sound completely different compared to AM radio (I don't listen at all to 96.7). Throws me off without the AM radio-ification of the sound.

Two opposite experiences with AA in the past few days for me...
Last Thursday night flew ORD to DFW, after landing we taxied to the random holding area where we parked and eventually got to our gate 65 minutes later. I get it, they can't magically create a new gate just for us and tight turnarounds at existing gates are why I can fly to Chicago for an affordable $800. But we sat on the ramp for an hour under clear skies. WTF.
But then last night flying back from FL, severe weather was rolling into DFW and the entire crew was in super teamwork/cheerleader mode to get us boarded ASAP so we could beat the storms. We pushed back 15 minutes early and landed safely at DFW just as the storms were approaching. And we didn't have to wait for our gate, we simply landed and taxied right to it. Sometimes the stars align I guess.

BioScan pitch guy really sales the fuck out of his product
Every time I hear the ad I'm convinced that company is going for a very specific demographic, and I'm lost on exactly which demographic that is. I cannot be the only who ignores medical ads I've heard on a sports radio station, and especially so if the voice-over sounds like someone helping me choose fertilizer at Ace Hardware. But maybe there's some market research out there that points to a group who has a connection to that and will buy in...

Boeing sells Jeppesen and ForeFlight to a private equity firm. Can't wait for price increases with a deteriorating product. Unless, given Boeing's recent woes, maybe these two units were being neglected and the PE firm will be better for them...

I’m moving back to Austin from Singapore next month. I am getting more and more concerned about going through customs. I’m entering via San Francisco, so maybe that will be a good thing, but it’s weighing on my mind.
Are you a PR by now? IIRC you've been there for about 10 years which was usually long enough for ICA to grant it.

Apologies if mentioned upthread, anyone have recs for a 3 night stay in May in San Jose? Work is taking me there and I have flexibility to stay really anywhere in the San Jose area, though closer to the airport the better. Main requirement is I don't want to be isolated in a property that has nothing around it for food options. So far it seems like Escazu has the best options with an Intercontinental, Hyatt, and Marriott property in the middle of a shopping mall area. Works for me but thought I'd check here.
Unfortunately as I'm there for work I don't have the option to get out and stay elsewhere in the country. 😞

I don’t think Trump could handle that. It will be him.
I need to go back and read the amendment but if it says speocamnot be elected again, would that preclude the VP spot and then having Vance resign to elevate him? That sounds more like it, and something that scotus could rule in favor of. Then appoint Vance as VP?
It's my understanding that somewhere in the Constitution (maybe the 22nd amendment) it spells out the requirement that the VP must be eligible to be President. Since he's ineligible via the 22nd he isn't eligible to run as VP. And yes I know he doesn't give a fuck and he's gonna try and run anyway.

Awesome.
You recently changed your avatar, right? For a while I recognized your prior one as the guy who wouldn't stop talking about his upcoming move to Hawaii and a fascination with another island out in the Pacific, and how he was the smartest guy in the room because of it. So mental note to self, you're now the ASU avatar. And you've hopefully experienced expat life before to know that A) nobody in the US gives a shit that you're an expat. Sure there will be a "Cool, how do you like it there?" conversation in an effort to be pleasant. But nobody gives a flying fuck that you live overseas and they definitely don't think you're as brilliant as you think are; and B) the grass is always greener my dude, you'll be complaining about the same exact shit on this same exact message board once the honeymoon wears off. So yeah, keep dropping in with the condescending comments pretending to be some expat genius. Whether you like it or not we're all in this together and it doesn't matter if you're living within or outside the US borders. And I say all of this as a former expat myself who was part of communities overseas that had guys just like you show up to happy hours. It was a beating hearing you argue how superior you were to the Americans back home, meanwhile the rest of the group couldn't wait until you left, and the locals thought you were losers too. So, congrats?

Anyone else think the Hardline's "trifecta" death segment is fucking stupid? Immediate station change when I hear the 'd-e-a-t-h' and guitar riff.

I believe there will be thievery. All the shit that was said and done in the open last time was a test. No consequences means now do the shit quietly.
Stop the Steal.
My inconsequential vote for POTUS (along with meaningful votes otherwise) was made today.
I wish I could have voted Abbott's ass off the cliff (and Mike Miles would have been tethered to him).
We are going to win.

Yesterday in a non-Texas airport, 8 TSA agents set up shop at our gate, re-checking IDs and randomly searching purses/ carry-ons before we scanned our boarding passes and got on the jetway. I travel almost every other week and several other folks who said they travel all the time also noted they had never seen this before. It was weird and extremely awkward/ clunky.
Then when I was making connection in DFW, dude in AA uniform like a gate agent was filming everyone with a headshot with his i-phone as we approached to scan our boarding passes. Just like the earlier experience, it was just fucking weird. Put em both on the same day and it was borderline WTF is going on?
The TSA thing could be a randomly selected exercise? That one's the least fishy of the two, but the AA agent filming people definitely is weird. Those company issued iPads have a lot of passenger data so maybe AA wants updated headshots for everyone. And we probably agreed to it via some random hidden clause they threw into the fine print when we bought the ticket. 🙄

Saw a NOTAM today, effective October 30th Regional Approach will become Lone Star Approach. How clever lol.

I mean, Roy Cooper won 2 elections as NCGOV in years Trump won the state. No one should be that surprised if NC did that
Didn't realize that. Fuck.

My worry about NC is the unknown amount of voters that will vote a split ticket of Trump/D governor. Doesn't make any sense why one would vote that way but I'm sure there's some backwards Twilight Zone justification they've come up with.
And ironically (sadly) those are the same types of voters in TX that give Allred a chance.

Nebraska back at it trying to change their EC rules to winner-take-all at the last minute.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lindsey-graham-nebraska-electoral-college-vote-kamala-harris/
Quote"As I have also made clear, I am willing to convene the Legislature for a special session to fix this 30-year-old problem before the 2024 election," the governor said, though he noted that he must first receive indication that there's enough support among state senators. Early voting in Nebraska begins on Oct. 1, but the secretary of state said a switch to a winner-take-all system could be implemented anytime before Election Day on Nov. 5, according to a report from KOLN.

The pilot did well to make an emergency landing on a public highway. Got the plane down intact and nobody was hurt. But running out of fuel seems like a pretty massive mistake.
Is the FAA the one that rules on such matters? And are we looking at a suspended license or potentially much worse?
My hot take... The pilot will eventually get a call/letter from the FAA asking for more info. Unlikely there will be a suspension unless there were other blatant issues like expired medical, lapsed 24 month flight review, the plane wasn't airworthy, etc. Main downside for the pilot is for all future job applications/forms he'll have to check "Yes" he has been involved in an incident and will have to share the details with future employers. Maybe not an automatic disqualifier but it sucks having to explain it. But if the pilot is only flying for leisure with no aspirations professionally there's not likely to be any further consequences.

As a Mooney aviator I make the pilgrimage to KERV every few months to wave hello at the factory. They've got a nice little GA airport and FBO but for airlines I think San Antonio is going to be your closest airport.
