Didn’t know where to put this and didn’t want to start a new thread but it blew my mind.
Only 2 QBs have ever won both a college national championship and a Super Bowl. Both named Joe.

Since he worked at Dunder Mifflin and is useless perhaps he is a Paper Bate

Just occurred to me that it is mathematically possible to play OU 3 times this year. If we trade games and both end up with 1 loss and everyone else has 2 we could then meet again in the playoffs. Extremely unlikely but possible.

Buried my uncle today. Another Horn who will have to watch the glory from beyond.
Prepare your anus and have a hanky, tide. You’re about to find out.Sorry to hear that SKA, night crew here to toast to your departed uncle. I genuinely wish you and your family well. My uncle was the reason I went to UT. He was my hero.
I’ll be thinking of him while we kick bama ass tomorrow.

I think they turned the ship a bit after beating Cal in overtime last year. That was the turning point. Deion just happened to catch them at the right time.
If this is a joke it’s actually pretty funny but I think you might really believe it.

But you know some of those old timers who are still alive as well former players of that era are looking at all the NIL stuff and saying holy shit it's now almost legal to do what we got shit canned for.
I know one of each, old timer and former player. This is exactly what they are saying. Their money is now back in play. Much how many of us at Texas are feeling. We can finally fully leverage our financial advantage.

I'm torn.
I'd like Utah to be left out because, fuck Utah.
But I'd also like Utah to be included because, fuck BYU.
There seems to be a consensus among surly that Utah sucks and they need pain. Where does that come from? What did I miss?

Folks saying that a 3yr contract is bad and 5yr is appropriate -- what about a 4yr contract?? On a compensation level, maybe CDC doesn't necessarily have to pay more than what Cronin and Buzz are paid -- give RT more money for his assistant coaching staff.

Yeah, I was sent to Mumbai for a month to work on helping close an LNG deal. Added bonus was that I hate Indian food besides naan. So after two weeks of the same restaurant, sheepishly walked into the Tex-Mex restaurant at the Oberoi hotel (best hotel in country). For a country that doesn't do beef well, imagine how they did beef fajitas. Terrible terrible stuff.
Mumbai, the Houston of India. If you don’t like Indian food that place is miserable.

Hopefully this is their “Eyes of Texas” moment, and hopefully it is at least as distracting to their team. OU sucks.

I think he was saying the coaching staff was concerned about the lines.

I’d ask the dude whether he was born into stature or had to work for it. If he was born into it, tell him to man up and sit back and enjoy. If he worked for it, tell him to quit being a wuss and have expectations like he once did for himself.
Then you can tell him OU lost 7 dudes to the draft. Bu lost 6. OSU lost their DC and 2 LBers. We added quality transfers and recruits better than anyone else. And yes our staff does have as good a pedigree as any in the conference.
Read above. Bobby Burton says we may have the best skill talent we’ve ever had.All good points. This guy isn’t rich, he works at Belmont and he was referring to the coaching staff when he said there was concern. I just hope we can get the skill guys and QB enough space to be effective and prevent another Arkansas et al on defense. I guess I have some ptsd from the past decade. Recalibrating back into “show me results” mode going into the season.

BIL is kind of a big deal in the entertainment marketing space and has a section of season tickets to the Austin MLS flopping parties. Not a fan but he invited me and I went to appease the wife. Anyway, one of the dudes that shows up is… connected to the UT FB program to say the least. We start talking football and he can’t stop about how concerned everyone is about the situation on the line, both sides of the ball. Do we suck again next year because we still suck on the OL and DL? My kool aide situation is critical, help.

True story. 2007. Southern Afghanistan. Everyone else on the team is either Afghan, Brit or South African.
In the team room we have satellite. Of course it is ESPN India (yeah, it exists). So I get up about 4 AM and tell the team to leave me the fuck alone. I am going to watch a Texas football game. Pregame starts all good. Drinking cold Tiger beer. Damn I am happy. Grill is going and I can smell the slow cooked fajitas I threw on.
Game time. Fuckers change it to a replay of a cricket test match from years prior. I was so pissed everyone in the house knew to stay away from me. Fuck Cricket. Gentlemens sport my ass. Three day even with shitty sandwiches and watered down tea.
Checking in at 4:30 AM in Mumbai so this hits close to home.

If that truck has the recording gear Ivan could set the record and it would not be available to see except on the cell phone recordings from the audience.

Email from UT President Jay Hartzell. Someone needs to educate him that there is no such thing as "Texas Aggies."
“This will be the best move for our student athletes, as they will be competing on the finest stage in collegiate sports. It will allow them to play in the best time slots on the largest television networks, give them unmatched visibility and prepare them for a potential future in sports beyond UT.”
This makes it clear the role NIL played in this.

Wanted to say congrats to the surly team on keeping the site up during all of this. It’s been rock solid for me the entire time.
Also have a ZZ Top story. Summer of 93 I was an intern at a large Houston law firm (not a law intern, I was undergrad at the time) and was taken to the original Carraba’s by a partner to have a meal way beyond my budget. In walks ZZ Top with a large painting. They got seated at the table next to us and put the painting in one of the chairs facing as if the painting was a dinner guest. They proceeded to have their meal with the painting as if everyone else was weird for not having one.

“Texas will become the highest ranked opponent for the Wolf Pack since it played No. 2 Oregon State at home back in April of 2019. Nevada took both of those games from the Beavers, who were the defending national champions at the time, winning in dramatic fashion in both affairs, 8-7 in 12 innings in game one and 7-6 in 10 innings in game two”
