  1. Anyone else hear Bobby mention this morning that Eddrick Houston got injured again last week or earlier this week? Surprised we are just now hearing about it. He didn't say anything about the severity but implied that it could impact the game.
  2. Wink Martindale was brought in specifically for continuity though. The last 3 Michigan DCs have all come from the Baltimore Ravens staff: Mike Macdonald, Jesse Minter, and now Wink Martindale. We’ve dismissed most of the Michigan comps from last year and rightly so. But there is one particular similarity that does apply. Both Michigan and OSU have/had a talented but shallow defensive line combined with new a defensive coordinator. When you watch the Michigan game it is obvious that the plan was to exhaust the DL starters then pound the ball when the second string came in. I would be surprised if we don’t see a similar plan on Saturday. Especially now that Baxter can be part of the pounding. That means early on we might see more tempo and outside zone schemes to get the OSU DL running from sideline to sideline. Once they are exhausted we follow with the gap power run game.
  3. Seems like the best way forward at this point.
  4. Who’s going to tell him?
  5. Here’s what I think the sports talkers and retail bettors picking OSU are missing: 1. OSU is trotting out a QB that has never started a game (and taken fewer than 20 game snaps) against a defense that has perhaps the best pass rush and front 7 in the country. Defense travels. 2. OSU OL is still under construction against said defense. 3. OSU has new coordinators on both sides of the ball. An OC that got demoted and a DC hasn’t coached a defense in years and never in college. It’s the first game for both. 4. Texas has a more proven RB room. 5. Sark is a wizard on the road, home field is getting too much emphasis. 6. OSU DL is not deep. We saw how that worked out for Michigan. I don’t see Sayin getting comfortable at all and Texas will be able to run the ball much more effectively, especially later in the game once the OSU DL depth issues take hold. I still have 2010-2022 PTSD and am generally not optimistic about what I’m going to see on any particular Saturday but this matchup really seems to favor the Longhorns.
  6. This is a message board, you are free to elaborate.
  7. I understand that the spread makes the OSU game a neutral site pick em but can someone explain to me why we aren’t favored in this one? They are starting a guy with something like 5 plays under his belt behind a suspect OL while facing a Texas front 7 that will be putting him under constant pressure. Their DL is very similar to what we saw with Michigan last year. Great starters but not deep. Sark exhausted that group by the end of the first quarter by forcing them to run sideline to sideline then ran over the backups. Smith and Downs will have their moments but I don’t see many areas where OSU has an advantage and I’m usually on the nervous/pessimistic side. What am I missing?
  8. I grew up in Snyder, 80 miles south of Lubbock which is really close by west Texas standards. We went to Lubbock just to see a movie, hit the mall and have fajitas at Chilis. We loved going to Tech games. Everyone I grew up with that had talent of any kind developed a deep passion to leave by the time they were in 6th grade. That place makes you hunger desperately to be somewhere else, somewhere relevant. Somewhere the wind isn’t constantly blowing. Somewhere with a tree or an interesting undulation in the earth to break up the endless flatness. It might not be true for all of them but many of these money whipped athletes are going to yearn to be elsewhere at some point. They are going to see the amazing places college football is played on their TV every Saturday and know they can have that experience. Tech might win some recruiting battles but the portal is going to be a big problem.

  10. Stop bitching about the ump. It's for losers and aggys. We can't hit shit.

  12. There is a ton of noise and back and forth on the basketball threads but it cannot be denied that this is not the standard.
  13. This is from 2021 but breaks down the number of points scored in the Super Bowl by college. Interesting read. For the most part the leaders have one or two players getting a ton of points and/or kickers contributing a lot. https://www.bannersociety.com/2020/2/4/21120619/super-bowl-scoring-history-college
  14. It’s apparently true. Bama QBs have thrown TDs but the receiver gets credit.
  15. All losses to unranked teams, has to be one of the most chaotic weekends in history.
  16. 2 huskies limped off on the last 2 plays including their best RB. Physicality starting to get to them.
  17. Didn’t know where to put this and didn’t want to start a new thread but it blew my mind. Only 2 QBs have ever won both a college national championship and a Super Bowl. Both named Joe.
  18. Since he worked at Dunder Mifflin and is useless perhaps he is a Paper Bate
  19. Just occurred to me that it is mathematically possible to play OU 3 times this year. If we trade games and both end up with 1 loss and everyone else has 2 we could then meet again in the playoffs. Extremely unlikely but possible.
  20. Sorry to hear that SKA, night crew here to toast to your departed uncle. I genuinely wish you and your family well. My uncle was the reason I went to UT. He was my hero. I’ll be thinking of him while we kick bama ass tomorrow.
  21. If this is a joke it’s actually pretty funny but I think you might really believe it.
  22. I know one of each, old timer and former player. This is exactly what they are saying. Their money is now back in play. Much how many of us at Texas are feeling. We can finally fully leverage our financial advantage.
