There will always be plenty of Bakersfields in Texas for you to move to.

Grew up in Houston and I've lived in Austin for the past decade. I don't have a "country" bone in my body.

Liberal utopia isn't coming. Gun control and raising taxes will be the end of any Democrat running.

Edit: My last post on the CA/TX debate.

  2. All is well in California for the middle class. The insane housing market, high taxes, high cost of living, and homeless crisis are totally worth it (roughly a 1/4 of the homeless population live in CA).

Looks like we'll all agree to disagree then.

Its expensive because its a popular place to live.  Not everyone can afford first class.  That doesn't mean that people dislike what first class has to offer.  In fact, what they want from California is more socialism whereby they can lottery into affordable housing developments.  Pretty much the opposite of Texas' current buildout into open land.  Texas will end up where California is once its cities completely mature whether the people currently living there want it to or not.

It's expensive because the state keeps raising taxes like how they just raised gas prices 40%. The high cost of living, including housing, is without a doubt the most important issue in CA and it's pushing the middle class out. I don't buy the idea of affordable housing developments happening at all. Texas will not be like California no matter how woke you think you are about this. That's just absurd.

California is an example of what NOT to do. It's saving grace is the weather while on the coast but then you have the earthquakes and wildfires. Fuck that.

I assume you've been on an airplane before.  Do you think the people who are seated in coach actually prefer coach to first class?  Do you think they dislike the offerings available in first class?

If you don't think there's a mass exodus from California to Texas because of how ridiculous it is living over there then we can go ahead and agree to disagree.

Because it's a straw man. What's the point?

It doesn't make a lot of sense for a person who left a top democratic state to keep voting blue if they didn't like where the state was headed. Democrats will not have another Beto in Texas and the Republicans will push a more appealing candidate next election. Beto really was the left's best chance of flipping Texas.

    Do you think Texas is?

Why do you think so many people are moving OUT of California to Texas? No one wants to be in a welfare state and have homeless camps where drug use is rampant. The housing cost and taxes are insane over there.

It's not wishful thinking. It's what's happening right now.

If you want to see what Texas is going to look like in 20 years, look at California.

Never going to happen. Do you think California is painted in a positive light?

Republicans know they are losing this state. It's only a matter of time. Just look at the cities and suburbs. They are growing much faster than rural areas and they vote for Democrats.

That is an existential problem for Texas Republicans. zork knows this and that's why he is lashing out.

That may be the wishful thinking. People can't stand Cruz and he still won. Beto had charisma working well for him but who can the democrats put out that can be that appealing? I don't think it was Beto's policy that made him that popular.

I honestly believe the next conservative movement of significance will be a progressive Republican movement.

Because it’s the only way they are ever going gain power again after Trumpism.

    We'll see in 2024.
