I think there are always a lot more virgin/near virgin types than people who have more partners think. I feel like among the nerds I’ve worked with there were some people who never ever got laid, some people who probably did twice in college but not much since then, and people who fit that mold who then found a similar nerdette online and got married. And a bunch of folks with more “normal” levels of physical intimacy.

my brother in law has been overweight since forever, drives a bread truck, serial friend zoned by girls out of his league, now he likes fishing, camping, and knives, his dog, authoritarian politics, and not trying to have sex at all.

i think a thing that has changed is that people have bigger lives online and there are larger niche communities that are accessible. 40 years ago if you don’t like the popular music, you need an older brother somewhere to show you husker du or you just move on to other things. Now if you can only orgasm while wearing a diaper you can find an active community of like minded individuals in 4 minutes. And those communities have gone from being the sideshow to your real life to the reverse for many people - they begrudgingly go out and do what is required to keep their meat vessel operating before they dip back into the metaverse. It is normal for these dudes to talk about not getting laid and accept not having a “normal” full social life because they are constantly surrounded by others like them in the place where they primarily exist.

    You talking about Surly?

This is what it looked like a century or so ago - that’s Great Uncle Frank who built his cabin prior to WW1.

    • Former CNN anchor Don Lemon says Elon Musk has canceled his Twitter talk show before its scheduled debut.
    • Lemon says Musk, who courted him to come to Twitter, didn't like the interview Lemon had just conducted with Musk.
    • If you're surprised by this kind of behavior from Musk, you're not paying attention.

The things we know are finite; the things we don’t know are infinite. This used to make me believe knowledge is unlimited and we should strive to learn more. Now when I hear this it makes me believe there’s an infinite supply of stupid idiots who are easily manipulated by rich psychotic assholes.

To most people, the shit Elon is pulling is in the far away distance, but as a resident of Austin (and Central Texas in general) I am worried about the bullshit he is doing with his wastewater disposal in the Colorado River. He is such a liar that he cannot be taken seriously and I hope there is a continuous monitoring system in place to ensure they are complying with TCEQ regulations and not just dumping utter shit into the river.

I’m also worried about the environmental impact his boring and drilling is doing to the surrounding areas. It took nearly a decade to get the crappy Mopac toll built because of some endangered species spider caves, but Elon is free to drill as much as he wants outside of Austin with no oversight. Local residents have complained about his activities close to their land but nobody really cares to address their concerns relating to infrastructure when it comes to anything Elon Musk does.

100% to all of what you said. He's probably doing some fucked up shit down on the Laguna Madre with Space X as well.

Timely thread bump.  Took the 4Runner to Toyota for oil change and state inspection - at least I saved $40 on the oil change vs Firestone.  Asked them to look at 2 other things while it was there - brakes and the door lock button on the driver door wasn't actually locking the doors - it made the noise, but the door would still open so I could only lock w/ the key fob.  They wanted $730 to fix the lock, and on top of that, the parts wouldn't be in until the next day.  Fuck that noise, I'll just live w/ the inconvenience.

I actually have the Master Power Window door lock thing if you need it. It's for 2010-2015 4runner. Had a similar issue on my 4 runner but it wasn't the part I needed.

    • Autry Stephens is set to be one of the world's richest people after selling his oil business.
    • But the 85-year-old didn't sound very excited about his newfound billions in a recent interview.
    • The sale is set to create one of the biggest drillers poised to take advantage of Texas' oil boom

    • Zoe Schiffer's new book "Extremely Hardcore" gives a play-by-play of Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter.
    • In this excerpt, Schiffer describes the blowback from Musk over her reporting on him changing the algorithm.
    • She wrote he did this because his "Go Eagles!!!" tweet about the Super Bowl didn't get enough attention.

On New Year's Day in 1870, ten-year-old Adolph Korn was kidnapped by an Apache raiding party. Traded to Comaches, he thrived in the rough, nomadic existence, quickly becoming one of the tribe's fiercest warriors. Forcibly returned to his parents after three years, Korn never adjusted to life in white society. He spent his last years in a cave, all but forgotten by his family

Really enjoyed Captured as well as Empire of the Summer Moon. Going to order Blood and Thunder now because of this thread.

Interesting little back and forth here now.    The fact only 14 replies shows how much water Johnny Football is carrying now.
