There is absolutely no comparison between the program Riley inherited and the one Herman inherited. Riley may be a better coach, but the results thus far are not necessarily proof of that.

True. But to be fair, Riley also helped rejuvenate that program as OC

Does anyone have a full list of who is out injured on the Defense? I can’t find a complete one on the google

Just look at the roster and check if each player is injured. Or, look at the week 1 depth chart and check if each player is injured.

Charlie Strong was given 3 years, and got worse every year.

Herman won an NY6 bowl his 2nd year, and in his 3rd year has gotten over the toughest part of the schedule (despite how ugly it was).

Matt fucking Rhule could lose his next 4, possibly 5.  At MINIMUM, 2 of those games.

The defense is the worst part of this team, yes, but it's also been ravaged by injuries.  And as boneheaded as we claim Charlie was, even he took actions on the D end when things got desperate -- so why wont Tom?  (A: it aint that fucking desperate yet).

So unless Darrel K Royal or Bear fucking Bryant is walking through that door, shut the fuck up about replacing Tom today.  Im not ready to hit the reset button just yet.

This defense is on pace to be the worst in the history of Texas football. If that's not a time to be desperate, I don't know what is.

And having played OU and LSU is not an excuse. We play OU on that same weekend every year, and we also usually play a marquee non-conference opponent.

I'm not hopping on the Fire Tom bandwagon, but let's not make excuses for giving up 550 yards to Kansas at home.

The only difference between this KU game and the one we lost is that we didn’t turn it over 6 times.  Last night isn’t some evidence of improvement.  Stop blaming Charlie’s recruits, seeing as how our best defensive tear was the won the the fewest TH signees.

Would you like to discuss special teams and penalties?  Where does that blame traditionally land.  I think we have had 3-5 glaring, egregious and fundamentally flawed ST miscues this season.

And fuck off with the injury excuses.  Those weren’t good enough 6 years ago and they still aren’t.  Our “B Team” (which this wasn’t) should never need a last second FG to come back and win against KU AT HOME.  24 points given up in the 4Q?  Fuck that.

Finally, you are so dismissive with the “sure he needs a better staff” comment.  That’s a MAJOR FUCKING PROBLEM.  Don’t make me remind you of Shawn Watson as an example of how a bad staff hire can ruin shit.

    *  Be clear...TH has not even in the same discussion of shitty HC performance as what Strong was here.  But “he’s better than Mack and Charlie” is so Fucking far from what our standard should be.  Don’t be the chick who puts up with the serial cheating boyfriend, because “at least he doesn’t beat me like the last guy.”

Yeah, yesterday's performance was worse than the 2016 loss. The 2016 game seemed a little fluky with all the turnovers. Yesterday, Kansas took it to us. They did not look outmatched at all. Yes, we turned it over twice. But they also missed two field goals and had a blocked extra point run back on them.

Not of your talent sucks. Bill Snyder was never going to win a NC at KSU, but he was at least in the mix. The best indicator really is how well you do with the talent you have, do you overachieve or underachieve. Gary Patterson and Mike Gundy are other examples. Maybe not this year because their talent has dropped so. And it may not be the best indicator of overall team leadership if they can't recruit the best players, but it is the best indicator of ability to coach up the players you have.

Even if your talent sucks, the best indication of good coaching is still wins... Of course, that's actually "wins given the resources at your disposal" - but that's obvious and should be inferred. Bill Snyder consistently won more games than he lost with low-ranked recruiting classes. Therefore, he was a very good coach. There's no need to need to focus exclusively on special teams and penalties, like you did above.

The best indicator of good coaching is how they do in 2 areas, special teams and penalties. Bill Snyder was a great example of this, along with a few others. Texas is at the bottom of the B12 and near the bottom of college FB in both. The absolute worst in punt returns in the country. Let that sink in.

The best indicator of good coaching is actually wins.

That shit happens to everyone that has a thin roster. It doesn’t happen to teams that are super talented everywhere and have depth. Those teams have off games but still win. Hopefully Ok State game was an example of us getting to that point.

Tom Herman is also probably still growing as a coach, so he might be able to do a better job of getting the team ready for games like that going forward.

I'm pretty sure his teams in those three games were more talented than the teams they lost to, though.

People have been talking about Herman losing to lesser teams that he shouldn’t, as if he has a long history of that. That’s what I’m referriing to.

His attempts to slow the game down with a lead is a different issue. I agree that he needs to cut that shit out.

See the 2016 loss to SMU, and the losses to Maryland the last couple years... he does have a history of random bad losses.

Also, these corners are still young. I remember thinking Cedric Griffin, T Brown, Ross and Huff were playing like garbage as freshmen and sophomores.  Then they turned into Thorpe winners and won all American recognition.

And then of course there's Blake Gideon and Earl Thomas blowing the Tech game and a chance at a national title in 2008... With Gideon then turning into a really solid player, and Earl into a future NFL Hall of Famer.

As Rod Babers pointed out on Longhorn Blitz though, it's a little concerning that Cook isn't getting on the field more even with all the injuries.

Like everything else you post, it’s a lie.  It’s been half a decade, 2014, and before that 2011.  Both ‘never’ and ‘decade’ are outright lies.

It sucks awful we don’t beat OU regularly, and all of us Pokes hate on Gundy for going turtle against Ou...it’s cost us a few conference titles.

But keep your ugly fuckin gold brickin ass outta my OSU-friendly community.  Bitch.

In his defense, he did say it's been like a decade...

I'm always for a solid ROI, but I'm also glad we've reached the point where if a high recruit doesn't pan out we have a hungry Kenyatta Watson or Adimora eager to step in.  I'm an optimist, but if Cook can't cut it than we need to move on no matter the stars, can't fall in love with label brands.  The way we're recruiting, we're going to have recruits that we love the tape or the rankings, but they just don't pan out.  Difference is now, we have guys waiting in the wings who are just as athletic and hungry for the spot.  I'm not writing Cook off, but if Watson or Adimora give us a better chance, then that's what needs to happen.

    Could Adimora play corner?
