  1. True. But to be fair, Riley also helped rejuvenate that program as OC
  2. This. If we were willing to play 8 DBs to get our best players on the field, we should be willing to play 4 DL.
  3. Just look at the roster and check if each player is injured. Or, look at the week 1 depth chart and check if each player is injured.
  4. What did you guys think of putting RoJo in the wildcat? I liked it a lot - it provides another blocker for the run without exposing Sam, and we could have a jump-pass counter play out of that formation.
  5. This defense is on pace to be the worst in the history of Texas football. If that's not a time to be desperate, I don't know what is. And having played OU and LSU is not an excuse. We play OU on that same weekend every year, and we also usually play a marquee non-conference opponent. I'm not hopping on the Fire Tom bandwagon, but let's not make excuses for giving up 550 yards to Kansas at home.
  6. Yeah, yesterday's performance was worse than the 2016 loss. The 2016 game seemed a little fluky with all the turnovers. Yesterday, Kansas took it to us. They did not look outmatched at all. Yes, we turned it over twice. But they also missed two field goals and had a blocked extra point run back on them.
  7. Even if your talent sucks, the best indication of good coaching is still wins... Of course, that's actually "wins given the resources at your disposal" - but that's obvious and should be inferred. Bill Snyder consistently won more games than he lost with low-ranked recruiting classes. Therefore, he was a very good coach. There's no need to need to focus exclusively on special teams and penalties, like you did above.

  9. damn... the defense panicked the first time they ran it at bimage, then... touchdown
  10. Tom Herman is also probably still growing as a coach, so he might be able to do a better job of getting the team ready for games like that going forward. I'm pretty sure his teams in those three games were more talented than the teams they lost to, though.
  11. See the 2016 loss to SMU, and the losses to Maryland the last couple years... he does have a history of random bad losses.
  12. And then of course there's Blake Gideon and Earl Thomas blowing the Tech game and a chance at a national title in 2008... With Gideon then turning into a really solid player, and Earl into a future NFL Hall of Famer. As Rod Babers pointed out on Longhorn Blitz though, it's a little concerning that Cook isn't getting on the field more even with all the injuries.
  13. There's an article featured on Texas 247 saying there's good news about Anthony Cook... Has he been practicing well or something?

I'm surprised Penn State didn't pass us
  15. In his defense, he did say it's been like a decade...
