The game plan this month is to grab as many bottles of Blantons and Eagle Rare as I can from every store in the area.  They just instituted a 1 bottle per day per person rule on the Blantons.

I'm calling all the local ABC stores, and asking about available stock . So far I've bagged 3 bottles of Blantons, going for an 8 count by August 1.

Only 8,  you think you'll have enough?

I might, but other than the William Larue I’m confident in being able to find more of those by the time I want more, and I don’t want to hoard stuff people are looking for if they’ve got something I can’t seem to find.

    That's pretty damn admirable.

I’ve done a blind taste test between regular Weller and W12 and I could not tell the difference. But even the regular Weller has been hard to find lately.

Sounds like you blew out your taste buds...😎

Solid in the $50-60 range. Unless it's a barrel pick hand picked by the master distiller or something, it should never cost that much.

More likely to find it in the $60-70 range, haven't seen it at under $60 for two years. I'm sure TW sells it at that, it's just never available after a few hours of the Tater hoards

You’re asking how a watch works. Be more specific; what are you looking for and what are you looking to pay for it.

I'm looking for Blantons SFTB, Master of Malt was the go to, but now ...no bueno

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof has hit Houston. I bought a bottle just to have it. I wasn't impressed with the batch I bought last year.

Has anybody tried the Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel? The Russells are pushing the hell out of it every time you put a microphone in front of them. I assume it's pretty good, but it doesn't seem to be selling well, or not as as well as Rare Breed.

What batch did you find? I bought an A119 last week. I've enjoyed batches A117 and C118.

I can confirm Wild Turkey Rare Breed is excellent. I think Wild Turkey has an price/age statement problem. If Rare Bird was $200, and a 12+ year age statement, the taters would be going nuts.

Bourbon Pursuit Episode 207 with Jimmy Russell highlights:

    - You can yell Jimmy doesn't like rye. I've heard it a couple times now, but Jimmy hinted at it again. He thought so little of rye that Wild Turkey sourced it for years from Maryland. He gave a long answer on why they did this. Basically, for a long time rye was considered an East Coast grain and the only good ryes were made in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Maryland was to rye as Kentucky was to bourbon.

    - They can't distill from June to August because the river water is too hot to cool the distillate.

    - He usually hits the Wild Turkey Gift Shop at 3:30 most days if y'all are interested in meeting him.

    - The proof of all Wild Turkey products comes off the still at 116 proof.

    - He thinks the ideal floors for aging bourbon are 3 and 5 in a 7 story rickhouse. At times there's a 30 degree difference between floors 1 and 7.

    - Jimmy started working at Wild Turkey in 1954

    - Jimmy told a cool story about 4 generations of Russells and Noes growing up together.

    - Before the Bourbon Bust in the 1970s, 12 distilleries operated out of Lawrenceburg Kentucky. There are now just two. Wild Turkey and Four Roses.

He actually said 3rd, 4rth and 5th Floors were his favorites. Jimmy is a hoot.

  8. ...So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Pool and pond,  a pond would be good for you

He's a Cinderella boy. Turns his eyes, I guess, as he lines up this last shot. He's got about 195 yards left. And he's got a...it looks like he's got a eight iron. This crowd has gone deadly silent, a Cinderella story outta nowhere. Former greenskeeper and now about to become the masters champion. ... He's on his final hole. He's about 455 yards away, he's gonna hit about a 2 iron I think ... it's in the hole!

i have a lined canvas case that looks like a pencil case.  simple.  works for buckle straps only.  but since i lost a watch on a trip i dont travel with multiple watches anymore.  what i wear is what i bring

I get that, dont usually take more one either, just looking for options.

  12. On a slightly different, but in the general area topic, what kind/brand watch travel cases do you guys recommend? Or do you have a DIY case answer  for traveling with 2-3 watches
