Van Rooyen. 66-67-65-63. Shot 8 under on Sunday. Lost by 8.

Lots of great movies.
The scene between Ice and Mav in Top Gun Maverick, although short, was fucking nails.
This is a nice moment. Let's not ruin it.
RIP Val.

Don't really know where to put this one.
His book on the Army/Navy rivalry was excellent. Most of his books were excellent.

Fairy Tale is worth the read just for Radar (the dog)
I'm reading this now. I'm just now to the part where they are starting to try to break out. Trying to be as vague as possible.

How’s the snow in breck?
Headed there next weekend (along with half the state of Texas. My last time EVER travelling on spring break! Happy dance).I'm here now. It snowed all night Monday night and all day Tuesday. Great skiing. Took the day off today and headed to Copper tomorrow.

Loss here probably means the fat lady sings
I have never rooted for Texas to lose at anything, anytime, ever. I never will. However, if we happen to lose tonight's game, I'm thinking we will have a new MBB coach next season (although I suppose we could have a new one next year even if we happen to win).

Watched the last two episodes last night with Mrs. Smwhorn (no pics, sorry). Agreed on it being beautifully shot.
I would have been fine with Beth dying.....

PC was great. Luckily, on the west side of the divide it was not as cold. It was -18 with a wind chill of -39 at Copper at the same time it was 10 in Park City. Brutal conditions over there, much like I had to deal with at Big Sky last January.
We got 4-5" Friday night at the top, so it was soft all day. It was a solo day by myself, which I really enjoy. My music, my pace, and my ability to just go wherever the mountain would take me, and then the fun of finding my way back without using any maps.
Sunday was daddy daughter day, which featured a lot of bitching abt who gets to lead, what run is next, blue or green etc.. After their first day of lessons, i was shocked to hear they went up Saddleback lift (blues and blacks only), so that is where I took them to start the day. The line to get on Red Pine gondola to start the day took 45 mins, so we were not going back to the bottom unless absolutely necessary. The oldest (9) was handling the blues with ease. The 7 yr old was more timid, but is getting close. I was very impressed with how far they've come. My back started to hurt around 2:00, so we got some hot cocoa and called it a day. The hot tub was calling our names.
I think the Salt Lake City airport will be our go-to ski destination airport from this point fwd.. It is super clean, and there are so many mountain options within 45 minutes . We Ubered to PC and back, so we didn't have to rent a car and pay for parking.
Rent cars are literally across the walkway from the baggage claim if you get one. I like to have one bc we usually use PC as our base and then travel. Alta is a great mountain and not bad for a drive from PC. And for ski/board rentals, there are several shops close by so you can get them on your way to the resorts from the airport and not have to wait once you get to the resorts.

Just booked a place in Breck area from Feb 28 through March 9. Looking for ideas on lift tickets for Breck/Copper/Keystone/Vail/Beaver Creek. Won't be able to ski every day, but most.
We will be celebrating male offspring's 30th birthday. Best restaurant in Summit County?
I'll hang up and listen.

LOfuckingL about quoting "multiple NFL scouts" - you can find "multiple NFL scouts" that believe Johnny Holmes had erectile issues in the pocket.
Quinn is going to declare for the NFL Draft tomorrow, sometime after Trey Moore hopefully announces he is staying (he's our last one, right?) because he knows his is the biggest "will he or won't he" on the team, and he didn't want to take away from his teammates' announcements. That's the kind of dude he apparently is if you listen to the words of guys like Kelvin Banks, Tre Wisner and Jahdae Barron.
QE will heal up, will look good in his workouts, will get excellent reviews from every coach he has been around, and will get drafted no later than mid-second round most likely as the 4th QB taken. A team taking a QB in that spot shouldn't need a plug-in starter, so he can put on the needed 15+ pounds and do some serious work on his footspeed...and if he puts in the work, has a chance to be a good NFL quarterback.
Take all of that to the bank
This. Fuck all the haters. There are still posters on this thread that say QE isn't a good QB.

Sat at the bar. Ordered appetizer and dinner. Watched some of the SNF game. No one said one word to me about anything other than my meal.

I thought the same thing but watching the replay. He grabs the ball and falls forward. But also there was 5 defenders converging on him and was going to destroy him. The best outcome was for him to go down and take the safety
And not get hurt trying to get it out of the endzone. It was really the smartest thing he could have done at the time.

So if I were hypothetically looking to purchase tickets for a hypothetical future football game at some point in the future, and I wanted to buy them before Jan 1, 2025, do the seats in the 200s behind the goal posts suck any more (or less) than the rest of the sucky seats in the stadium? I can fortunately say that I've never been to Jerryworld before.
I'll hang up and listen....

Incorrect. That was another secret strategy that was leaked to the press by some t-sip loving reporter:
“Bjork said they researched every team to win an SEC Championship and a national championship in CFP era. Key factors: defensive minded head coach, championship level culture, recruit and develop elite NFL-type talent, play great offense and score a lot of points with a high level QB.”
Man, I don't see how any team can win a national championship if they have all this . . .

So - when Beth and John RedCorn were talking on the front porch, I kept expecting the "solution" to be deeding the entire Yellowstone estate over to the Indian Nation, which would put it under some pretty strict regulatory protections, right? He could then grant back chunks of the land back to the (rapidly dwindling number of) Duttons for their personal use, under the guidance/control of their leadership/guidance/protection, etc.
Is that a possible outcome here?
Yeah, my guess is that they somehow find a way for all or most of it to be in the hands of the Indian Tribe and the rest of the crew heads to Texas.

The scene with Jamie, the new governor, and the aide might have been the worst acted scene in the history of acting. It's like they were doing their first read and badly at that.
Damn you people are rude, opinionated, and just not very nice.
Oh wait. This is Surly.
Carry on!!!

Same here....gonna miss her.
Based on the last three episodes, I'm guessing she's going to be in some "let's take the audience back in time and show them what happened" scenes.

Had dinner last night at Ocean 44. Outstanding in all aspects. Sat at the bar with Mrs. Smwhorn (sorry, no pics, I'll cut you, man). Great drinks. Great service. Great atmosphere. Even better food.
Played both Talking Stick courses. Both are worth it.
Casino is shit. It was clean and not all that smoke filled but I could not believe how crowded it was. There were literally no tables last night after we got back from dinner where there was more than one seat at the table. Most tables were completely full. Sportsbook was packed.
Lost both the over at 47.5 and the -18.5.
Won Auburn +1.5.

I ate there a few months ago and it is still excellent. Toca Madera right next door was even better and better people watching too. Highly recommend both.
We have dinner reservations at Ocean 44. Looking forward to it.
