I haven't been yet, but I see amazing reviews for Family Car Care Center behind Serious Pizza. I have some work I need done soon, and that's where I'm going.

Jeff is a great guy.  His place does great work and they are fair.  Never had any of the upsell stuff.  Highly recommend!

Oh, it's far more Iowan than any of those options.

Large rim + tire for a 4WD tractor tipped over on me while I was washing it as a kid (10-11 years old).  Drove me face first into the concrete.  I'm sure the closeto's are upset that the tire didn't finish that job that day, but all my exposure to herbicides will catch up with me soon enough.

I had a fake on a flipper for years (and on my braces when that was happening).  When I was 17, I drunkenly dropped it on a counter while brushing my teeth before heading out with some buddies to a street dance.  Rather than go out with a gap in the front of my face, I found a tooth-toned brand of gum, shaped it into place and stuck it on the flipper.  I lost my virginity that evening, to a gal who had been a complete stranger prior to the day's events.  Had a permanent false installed when I was 20 and it's doing just fine.

Always a favorite at the Forest Park location. Enchiladas Ole for dinner after lunch here.

Live at the other end of Forest Park in Mistletoe.  The two restaurants are in the rotation for sure!

  4. Agree with all on the Recruit.  Hopefully we will get another season.

On another note, I could be way behind the curve but that documentary on Sparks was cool as Hell!  I was probably one of tens of people who actually went to the theater when I was a kid to see Rollercoaster.  I wondered why Adolph Hitler was playing music in an amusement park.  Those two brothers have just middle fingered the music industry for half a century.

    Merry Christmas, Surly.

The Gilcrease Museum.  Haven't been in decades, but it was a good museum for Western art - Remington, etc.

Coney I-lander is a must for me.  Goes back to visiting grandparents as a kid, but those little chili dogs are pretty good.

Went to law school at TU.  Ate the ass end out of the Coney I-lander over a three year period.  Got fat.  Stayed fat.  Don't care.  Winning.

Met some friends at Jon's Grille at lunch today. They walked in at 12:15 and ordered. I left at 1:15 having not ordered  anything. When I left, my friends still didn't have their food. Unreal.

Went to Jon's tonight just to try it out.  Had the fatty patty melt on rye.  Was really good.  Fries were meh.  Was very crowded and so loud I couldn't hear the voices in my head.

The shrieking harpie LSU fan didn't help my experience.  Fuck her.

The most vocal TCU fans on Killerfrogs and HFB are convincing themselves that the only thing holding TCU back the last 5 years has been Patterson. Dykes has taken the approach of being bizzaro Gary, doing the exact opposite of what GP would do when confronted with any choice.

It’s actually bizarre to see the dislike for GP coming from the most vocal on KF and HFB. You’d think he’d stolen their puppies and Dykes is giving them back. Not all TCU fans feel like that of course, but the loudest voices are the most negative.

It was undoubtedly time for a change, for both TCU and GP. My guess is that there will be some growing pains, as there almost always is with a coaching change, particularly following a legend.  Dykes is a good, not great, coach. Under him, TCU should be a good, not great, team.

I'm not sure the sentiment was the he was holding us back but that his refusal to adapt was not allowing us the opportunity to keep up or at least maintain.  I   have no ill will for GP.  In fact, he took our program to the "great heights" and I'll always be grateful.  Though the last couple of years I was dreading a Woody Hayes type exit, if you know what I mean.

Dykes will be interesting.  My biggest concerns with his best SMU teams were that they started fast and faded down the stretch.  In any event, what's done is done and I'm just thankful that we all have a normal season ahead.

    I've got some football wood.

Welcome to the party.  Their enchiladas are the tits.  Their fried chicken is really tasty as well.  They are definitely in the rotation.

Went to law school at TU in the early 90's.  Loved this place!  Once I saw a cockroach crawling up the wall next to me.  Did nothin.  Took another bite of my cheese and onion enchiladas.

    I agree 100%.

I've had to stand outside for several hours in the cold of the northern plains on many occasions.  It's just a matter of wearing more clothes and not being a bitch.

If I could go back in time to any sporting event I wasn't alive for, some of those old Met Stadium games would be at the top of my list.

Those old NFL films showing the old Met Stadium Vikings were cool as hell.  Seeing Eller and Page slowly get down in the stance with steam coming from their nostrils was classic.

some of them are, generally the further from FBG you get (and closer you get to Johnson City) they better. Kuhlman Cellars is kid friendly and has a deck that catches the wind nicely. Another good one off the beaten path is going to be Narrow Path. Becker is huge, so lot's of space there.

AVOID WILLIAM CHRIS, HEATH AND GRAPE CREEK - they DGAF about kids and cater pretty heavily to their wine club, which is fine, but isn't kid friendly.

    Other Kid Friendly spots:

Pecan Grove Store is a hamburger place that is north of town, only have burgers/fries on weekends though so check times. lots of room for kiddos to roam.

Piccolina is an italian ice food truck that is fucking amazing. owner is great and she moves it around so check her instagram to see where she is. basically it's ice + fruit and that's it.

Pontotoc Vineyard has a tasting room is downtown - like 3 doors down from Hondos - and is quiet and has some solid stuff there too. get the picnic basket and drink a glass of sangria. there are always kids there and the owners are good people.

Munch Food Park: off main and has like 4-5 food trucks plus a kids playground and a beer+wine bar

Go get a pizza at Prometheus Pizza - off main st, legitimate great pizza and BYOB.

Chase's Place for drinks if you want a good selection of whiskey+bourbon. I would say their apps are good as well but they just had kitchen turnover last week.

Caliche Coffee is on main and is the best place in town, open until 5p i think? Can sit on the back porch and enjoy a little bit of quiet.

La Bergerie is a good spot behind the Nimitz Museum if you want a (good) glass of wine.

Munch Food Park: Off Main also and has like 4-5 food trucks

bad news my friend, it is no longer open. the building is (still) for sale though if you want to re open it!

I did a tapa search for Fredericksburg yesterday with zero results. And now this is at the top of the feed. Alien stuff going on.

I’ll be in Fredericksburg In two weekends with a group for a birthday party. The weekend has been planned by the wives and I hope to be able to escape for at least an hour or two for my sanity. If I break away what are my options for downtime? Local bars? Food trucks off Main Street? All help will be appreciated! lol

Just sneak over to the 87 icebox.  Nothing fancy but cold beer with salt of the earth folks.
