The refineries are backed up. There is limited silver available. That's why these coins are so much above spot.
At the same coin shop: The refineries are backed up. The cost of silver is a little unstable and in a bit of a bubble until they can unwind the backlog. That's why I can only pay you this dramatically lower than spot price for your silver coins. -

I’m assuming that doesn’t affect Eagles, Buffaloes or anything .999. Can anyone explain?
People are trying to sell junk silver (silverware etc) for the melt value. However there is so much stock waiting to be refined, that most buyers are not willing to take junk metal right now (or offering a crazy low ball make me take it price). Coins are not affected.

Kindly indulge a proud dad in a little bragging...
He got his acceptance today from Mines which, although he fit their admitted profile student pretty well, I didn't consider a sure thing at all. Really proud of this great kid.
He's also accepted to CSU, and got their top tier OOS scholarship offer, although things like that will change since he'll have to get reclassified as in state when the dust settles at any CO school. Haven't heard from CU yet.
It'll get interesting now that he has some choices. I feel like the student body at Mines (collaborative fun nerds) is his tribe, but despite being great at the maths, engineering hasn't been his main mindset for undergrad. He'll have to decide between that and a more open and bigger experience at CSU.
Interestingly, one of his good friends (and a great kid) also got into Mines, which I thought was pretty cool for a mediumish HS class of ~120. We'll see if that affects his thinking.
Good luck and Godspeed to all you Surly parents as the crazy season accelerates!Congrats! It’s a great school! A word of caution: Colorado makes it almost impossible to get in state residency as a college student. Definitely investigate that beforehand.

silver over $60/oz.
i wonder what price i could get for some sterling silver utensils i never use....
I was reading an article recently that so many people were trying to sell their old silver that refiners were overwhelmed with product resulting in a bottleneck. No one is buying scrap silver apparently.

Word of thanks to a couple of the above posters. One of our trio of cats has been battling kidney disease for years. It finally caught up to him. We were not looking forward to stressing him out at the vet to help him pass comfortably. I looked up in-home options in the area and found a few great companies. It was the most comfortable and peaceful way to care for him in his final moments. Thank you everyone!

Well my Hellcat was stolen out of my truck Sunday night.
They hit our neighborhood and the one next to us.
Have a few videos and sheriff knows who they are.
Soooo I’m in the market for another EDC.
Looking at the Kimber .380 or Micro 9.Not trying to be an ass with the question, but did you just forget your gun in the truck or do you regularly leave a firearm in your vehicle unsecured? I'd start with a good truck safe if you are leaving it in the vehicle.

Yeah. It’s warm right now. Those were pics from last year.
To get this back on elections instead of weather. One of the best things about Colorado is how they inform the voters on the topics. The first time I received the official ballot information book with each agenda clearly explained with arguments both for and against the law/amendment, I was genuinely shocked. The state actually wants voters to be informed as to the pros and cons of each issue. Being able to sit with a computer, the Blue Book and a cup of coffee may be the best voting experience anywhere. Then just find a drop box or mail it in. So much better than "what the F are you up to with this proposition?" while standing in a voting booth in Texas.

If a man is making his 401k and individual IRA contribution, is there a reason to not max the HSA as well?
If you are able, max the HSA. Within the HSA, you are able to hold money as cash, invested into a fund (VOO etc) or some combination of each depending on your comfort level/emergency fund.
Texas Jeff is correct, after 65 you can pull the funds for any reason and just pay income tax on the withdrawals. Alternatively, you can use those funds tax free for Medicare or long term care expenses. Finally, there is no time limit on when your medical expense occurred vs when you can claim the withdrawals. So, if you want to keep a file of your medical expense receipts for years, when you turn 65 and are on Medicare, you could pull funds completely tax free for whatever and just submit enough old receipts to equal that amount to the IRS. -

When you guys are planning for retirement, are you counting on social security income?
I'm planning on retire in 12 years, and not counting on social security to be solvent. Getting anything would be like a cherry on top.
No. I suspect that it will end up being means tested or taxed enough to become a negligible amount.

Agree on the tank printers. I'll never consider cartridges again. This one is on sale at Costco for $260 this month.

Bank wire discountBernard has your watch but "on hold" for $4660 or $4395 by bank wire. Maybe see if the other interested party backed out?

Walked into the Tudor store after lunch today to look at a BB58.
They actually had a GMT in stock. This is a terrible picture: and the plastic is still on, but do you think?
It’s 39 inches and a lot more comfortable than the Seiko diver I’m wearing.
The salesman said prices are going up because of tariffs, but will let me have it for the “original” price, which is about $4,900.
So, the discount is what MSRP was 2 days ago? Ouch.
Basically new, but burgundy dial/bezel at DavidSW for $4375 and guessing no sales tax.

I looked at it, but ended up going with Projection Lab instead. I simply liked the interface and their modeling a bit more. They are both great options. Pralana is another good spreadsheet option if you like that approach more. The FIRE guys/Fidelity have some free options as well if you don’t want a subscription based model. There are a ton of good options.
