  1. To add to the ref fuckery, we also had to listen to Brock fucking Huard. God I hope I never have to hear that voice for the rest of my life. I would take Galindo over Huard 10/10 times, no questions asked. Unlistenable.

    Huard>Galindo>Brando.

  2. Plus (you said you were in FISD), the trend the last decade at this point, because none of the smart but not top 6% boys in the Frisco/Plano area can get into UT anymore, there is a ton of out of state exodus. So all your boys friends are going to Bama and Arky and OU, etc.
I had the same conversations with my kids who were FISD. The majority of their class who weren't top 6% who went to public school, went to A&M or out of state (Ark, tons of Bama, OU) rather than go to Tech or UNT or something like that.
And I sympathize. I wouldn't get into UT today if I was a senior, but would still want the college experience I got at UT with Greek life and football games and being able to party but also get a degree that can get a decent paying job.

Can concur as a PISD parent of ‘23 and ‘24 grads.
My ‘24 wants to go to UT, checks all his boxes but unless there’s a miracle, he’s not getting in. Kid has great GPA, a ton of AP credit but not 6%. He has applied so fingers crossed.
The only other school in state he’ll consider is UT Dallas because of their CS program.

  3. I think you’re looking at the Gordo personna. He’s a hardworking dude and is no doubt the catalyst for their remarkable increase in ratings last year in the face of Rhyner returning to radio where they obliterated the Freak. He appeared on all the shows and guided them to wake up and get back to work. Just doing 25 hours a week of live talk radio a week is hard fucking work on its own. He could do a podcast of his materiel in his sleep and have an army of subs.

I think Gordon would prefer spending more time doing manual labor than what he does. He could do both by stepping away and I agree he could pull 10k subs, not in a week, but ultimately it might come to that depending on how much of a pay cut Cumulus asks the Musers to take. If they have to pay two, it’s less than paying 3.

I often wonder what story Daniel Figurelli aka Daniel Joseph aka Daniel Wilson tells his family, wife, etc when he changes his name on the reg. It's gotta be some elaborate lie about how some dirty t-sips stole his identity and they keep on doing nefarious deeds in his name just because....well, that's what those damn t-sips do, ya know?

Racist Daniel Figurelli/Joseph/Wilson....the ultimate FAFO candidate.

TBH they probably don't/won't know unless they look at his ID. These days easy to use the "stolen identity" excuse.

Random guess but player 4 could be Baxter. NIL? Over one million. Where did NIL rank? Behind scheme, development and coaching relationships (he came here because of our track record at RB, coach Choice). Who finished Second? FSU but they got in a bit too late and by then I was locked in. Best Food? The one guy who specifically mentions Texas. Advice? Basically regurgitates the exact messaging with regards to development and NIL that Sark constantly repeats.

the only concerning thing he said is having two schools in mind if he has to portal.

And though you can only use it once a day, there’s often another 20% off offer in there too in case you decide to go back later.

Oh, and you earn rewards, often double for breakfast. I’m sitting on enough points for 6+ free quarter pounders. I emptied out 100k points earlier this year and they’re already stacking up again

Agree with you that they reward their customers way more than other apps. CFA used to be good and they realize once they have you hooked no more free shit. Expecting McD's to do that eventually but until then I'll enjoy my $2 bac/egg/chz biscuit. The app really rocked when the drinks were $1. It was smart of them to tune that to recoup some of the money they're losing on people that use the app consistently.

I’m not either. All the young guys sound the same. Like they went to the same broadcast school and were taught the same way. The only young guy with any talent is Jake and he’s not that young anymore.

the radio game now is only going to get us people who have parents that can support them or if they marry someone with a good job. Weekend shows used to be great to listen to and now even tuning into Mino and Monty isn't a must for me.

So much fun hearing Corby opine on Chris Beard last night. Like he’s not a fan and defender of a school that had a sexual predator as university president.

haven't listened to a minute of Corby since Danny joined the Downbeat. Glad they added Danny--there was something missing or maybe it's just that Sirois is still finding his legs. Really enjoy that show now.

IIRC a lot of the talent doesn't like being on camera or doesn't want to be on camera and have made that stance clear.

    I agree, it's a missed opportunity.

The Ticket has missed a lot of opportunities where everyone could have benefited. The top guys made good money, but there's nothing left for anyone that made the come up. Even Bob & Dan missed out on big paydays.

-Greggo getting fired when HL was going strong

-Never televising any events--Fight Night, Ticketstocks, Timewasters, etc

    -No syndication

-Not podcasting shows. The laziness of this alone drives me crazy as they catalogue every show.

-Letting new media pass them by.

    -Renewing Norm's last contract.

I don't listen much these days working from home so was just curious if they talk about it or not. Seems like it would make for some entertaining segments with their background doing fight night is all. I don't listen to barstool either but I'll stream that rough and rowdy occasiaonlly for shits and giggles.

I don't think they can reference Barstool much as they're definitely competition for the demo. Barstool puts out a ton of content and even my old ass consumes it.

Looking back, the Ticket has missed a few opportunities to get bigger and blow up. It's interesting that Gordo's been the only one to try and dip toes into newer media when even The Horn does Twitch streams.

Yeah, the part I caught was Greggo saying he didn't think he could do this every day but it was a blast to be on the radio with them yesterday. I wonder if that was truly what Greggo thinks or was he pandering to his audience (the OGW). Let's be honest -- the Hammer fucked up badly and paid a massive price. But addiction is a bitch. I don't think Rhyner has done him right over the years and I hope yesterday helps move their relationship down the road. As dumb as Greggo was, he was a great running buddy on the HL. Rhyner/Greggo/Yuck Monkey Corby/Producer Danny was the best HL.

Oh, and I loved old school Greggo talking about sneaking into next year's All Star Game in Arlington. He claimed that he could sneak into anything and that he'd snuck into two Super Bowls. Upon further investigation, Danny determined the Hammer had a credential to both games but "snuck" in his backpack without having it go thru x-ray machine. The second time he put his credential under his shirt and got onto the sidelines. That was old school braggadocio Greggo at its finest.

Currently have a family member battling addiction and a lot of what Greggo said hit close to home. People, me included, threw a lot of hate at him for how things ended. Addiction sucks, he admitted he was out of control. To me, taking full accountability of your actions and improving yourself goes a long way towards forgiveness and forgiving yourself.

The White Elephant 3-7 group would have been my favorite to listen to but I didn't leave the Freak the entire time. Heard the same from a couple of friends as well. @Grubes, not sure if you can share the numbers but I would have to think they reflect a significant boost from what you've seen daily including podcast numbies the past 16 hours.
