  1. Welp, my dad was officially diagnosed with stage 3 Follicular Lymphoma. Doc wants to start treatment next week with a Bendamustine+Rituximab regimen. The oncologist said overall this has a favorable long-term prognosis, but in the immediate term they said the treatments may be pretty rough on him. Although they did also add a disclaimer that different patients respond differently and some don’t have hardly any side effects.

Luckily I live pretty close so I’ll be able to check in and keep an eye on him regularly, take him to appointments, etc. Definitely would appreciate any advice y’all would have for caregivers of someone going through chemo.

I actually listen to Bobby Burton's OnTexas youtube videos a lot in the car for my UT sports radio now. They are short (20-30 min), on a particular topic, and his "co-hosts" (e.g., Rod B, Gerry Hamilton, Scipio Tex) are quite knowledgeable.  The BK and crew YouTube videos are too long, meandering, and there's too much meaningless bloviating from Bucky, Chad, etc.  101.9 is out because the signal is so shit.

Yeah I dropped Texas Sports Unfiltered after listening to BK talk about watching a hobo shit in a red solo cup on a Texas-OU pregame show. Totally pointless drivel most of the time.

I think Friday night is best.  makes decisions on travel/holiday much easier and get to watch all the chaos(except for this year's chalk) on Saturday.  Also, bonus if you are a Cowboy fan.

Agreed. Really liked the time slot for the Tech game this year. Don’t have to compete with any other college or NFL games. Easier to work around family gatherings, too.

  4. At this point they should just make Robinson with his stellar 1-1 record permanent head coach for a discounted deal. Try to hang on to as many of their good players as possible and pray that they can somehow catch lightning in a bottle like Ed O in 2019. If (when) it doesn’t work out, then they can just cut their losses fairly cheap as he’d likely be a more cost efficient hire than even Fisch or Traylor.

I used to be indifferent to Gus Johnson but now I find him pretty damn annoying. Does he ever do SEC games?

I think our game against Michigan will be a Big Noon game, so we'll have to deal with him next year. They do SEC OOC games if they're at a Fox partner's home stadium (like when Bama came to Austin last year).

  6. As far as national talking heads go, Joel Klatt was much more accurate in his assessment of A&M than Pate. He said they’re the 4th best job in the region and at best the 7th best job in the SEC.

Pate’s just making a business decision because he knows that the cult will eat up his BS and give him more clicks/views.

  7. Bring in Gary Kubiak to “steady the ship” so to speak, then groom Klint as HCIW. That would track with what CTJ said earlier in the week about the talk of wanting to bring in a true aggie. Probably would be one of the cheaper options

His press conferences after games crack my ass up. Fisher is legitimately dumb as fuck. He just smugly rambles on with a bunch of nonsensical bullshit, 100% confident that he knows more than everyone else. This particular exchange (7:03) is a perfect example.

Here is the play in question where Weigman is clearly in the endzone, lulz. Jimbo tried telling that dude that they snapped the ball from the 18 or 20 yard line.

Very on-brand that Jimbo's first thought when talking about playcalling when you're backed up against your own end zone is how to set up a good punt.

Yeah, he rocked the shit out of Bean. I feel like that’s part of the reason Kansas went away from the qb run game.

It definitely made Bean think twice before scrambling. There was the one third down where it looked like Bean had enough open field in front of him to run for the first down but then cut it to the side away from everyone as if to try and get out of bounds and ended up short. I think he was trying to avoid taking another shot there.

  10. I believe they post the recorded episodes to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and their own app. So I’m sure some people go that route instead of YouTube, but I highly doubt that’s a large enough number to sustain them. Pretty much all of them except BK have full-time jobs outside of this though. I don’t know how he’s making ends meet and paying Austin rent with this being his full-time gig.

I don't know how good we'll be this year, but the incessant declarations that Sark is incapable of producing a playoff team because he hasn't yet is a lazy basis.  Remember when Clemsoning under Swinney was a thing?  Right up until it wasn't anymore.

If Ed O can do it, Sark can too.

I know it borders on a "hot take" but he really wasn't that great.  (Good, yes.)  They sort of glanced at it during the NFL piece but he just wasn't physically good enough to show up and not study.  (No one is, really.)  He was good at Aggy because he was surrounded by NFL guys.  He was smallish, slower than thought, and had an average arm.

That's not hindsight, either.  I remember one scout pointing that out.  He said if you watched all of the cil, Manziel took off running when he had people wide open down field.  He just didn't see them.

Mike Evans bailed him out of a lot of dumb throws too

    https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-big-ten-narrows-focus-on-oregon-washington-175549459.html

"As the Big Ten continues to wait to see what happens with the future of the Pac-12 Conference, the league’s focus on possible expansion has narrowed to adding just two schools — Oregon and Washington, according to industry sources.

While a plan to also add Cal and Stanford and move to 20 teams strong in 2024 has been discussed, a smaller, two-team expansion that broadcast partners favor seems far more likely as of Thursday afternoon....

Big Ten broadcast partners see value in adding the Ducks and Huskies, but have balked at moving to 20 teams and bringing in Cal and Stanford. The two Bay Area schools offered appeal to university presidents who like the association with elite institutions and entry into the populous, wealthy and tech company-rich region of the country...."

I’m guessing they want to use Oregon and Washington to get to 18, then save some slots for ACC teams instead of adding in Stanford and Cal.

For me it really depends on his co host. Him and Zay were awful together. I’ll give him a chance with someone new.

He can be tolerable with the right host IMO. Trey and Zay were not great co-hosts at all. I don’t remember him being nearly as bad when he was with Kevin, but that could be recency bias talking.

  15. Erin just confirmed that him and Rod will be hosting a morning show from 6-11 starting next Monday. Said there will also be an afternoon drive show from 5-7 but didn’t say who would be the host(s).
