Unfriendly reminder to idiots posting on this thread about Quinn Ewers and what all that entails - there is a thread dedicated to that shit, so go the fuck over there with Ewers stories and fantasies. Thanks.

In other news, clearly something that is happening right now that isn't working is Sarkisian getting way too fucking cute with personnel and playcalling management.

Regarding personnel, yeah, January can't go because he's got a throat injury. Maybe Baxter can't go with a real hamstring injury. A lot of the other guys being held out for dings and cuts need to be getting reps with their units, as much for the unit as for the player. "It's a long season" as a refrain sounds dumber than a soliloquy from Spider2YWhateverTheFuckThatIdiotIsCallingHimselfNow. This is not a playoff team as currently presented. This is 1991 Texas incarnate. Get guys out there and figure out some cohesiveness, as they all might be/probably are playing 13 games max this season.

If Sarkisian and his combover idiot friend know that Yips Manning isn't going to be fixing much by Florida, have some fucking courage and put in the Caldwell spare early against SHSU and let's see what he can do with the first team unit.

Regarding playcalling, it's time to go in the bag a bit for Arch Rocker and let him cut some deep balls loose, early. If he lands a few of those, maybe that loosens the guy up and his bugs get fixed. If that happens and he's still Glitch Manning, then go back to the earlier point about Caldwell. Get him in there. At some point, Texas needs to be running the actual offense that Sarkisian wants it to run. This is a brutally inexperienced offense. They need to be figuring out how the actual playbook functions at full speed and seeing reps there.

Other personnel things that should be getting analyzed are:

    1) LG - they played Stroh with the 1st unit exclusively in order to get them gelling. How did that work out? If progress isn't being made there, let someone else get similar reps in this next game.

    2) 3rd String QB - Lacey has passed Owens. However, they want him to redshirt. If Arch Knoblauch isn't functional and Caldwell gets hurt or sucks as well, Lacey would ostensibly be the guy. All 5'10", 170 pounds of him. So get the guy reps against SHSU in the second half and let him run the offense.

Is Trey Owens seen as totally inept and unplayable by the coaches? The limited reps we’ve seen of him publicly suggest, what, maybe an average P5 starter? That doesn’t seem too bad at the moment.

All of you are sitting around moping about like someone just shot your dog.

Frankly - I'm fucking tired of it.

This is Texas football. Back to back CFP appearances. Back to back national semifinals. B12 champs 2023. SEC title game 2024. Back to back 12 win seasons (13 last year).

    Thorpe award 2024.

    Outland trophy 2024.

25 NFL draft picks the last two seasons.

Get y'all's fucking shit together and quit being a bunch of bitches. If I have to see one more motherfucker post about 2010 Texas or Garrett Gilbert I'm throwing a damn brick through someone's window.

I am so, deeply sorry that Arch Manning isn't instantly 2019 Joe Burrow. Why don't all of you relax and watch a couple more games before claiming that this team is going 7-5.

These dogs get another warmup and then they all go get to prove themselves.

We are going to fuck Florida's shit up.

We are going to fuck OU's shit up.

Have some fucking faith in what your head coach has shown you and what he has already delivered for this program. The QB is green. They will figure it out. Together. Give them time. Have some God damn faith for once in your life.

THIS IS TEXAS FOOTBALL, GOD DAMMIT.

    200.gif

    Let's fucking ride.

    🤘

You want to back this up? Or did you just want to post a bunch of emotional diarrhea for your own personal therapy? Past performance is not indicative of future results.

That is a shame for LA area fans.  So much history there and I truly feel for SBBruin.  Truly a great poster here.

UCLA right now is in shit deeper right now than we were in the mid/late-80s, late Mack years, and the Charlie experience.  They too can get out of it, but it’s going take some work, money, and time to get out of this.

    Hook’em!!!

Maybe I’m missing the sarcasm, but LA fans are among the worst in the whole country. No disrespect to SBBruin.

I would love to know what halftimes are like. Because the 3rd qtr is always dog shit. Does  he ever yell or get in someone’s face. Does he tell them all they play like dog shit. Or does he go sit in his office and let everyone go on tik tok

They drink water and eat orange slices. Seriously, there’s actually little time to make major adjustments. It’s incremental

We were with friends who went to WVU and they were dressed up in WVU gear, so we didn't get anything besides the light-hearted stuff from others. For all of the "Morgantown is a lot of fun!" that I've read on the boards over the years, I didn't really get it. We black car-ed to and from Pittsburgh, so maybe we missed part of the charm by not staying there, but we tailgated and went to some famous local haunts for food and drinks. Went to the school bookstore, etc. It was all fine, but I didn't find anything extraordinary about the place. They were also very docile after getting pummeled.

Agreed, the town is small but not particularly charming. I went with a group of mild-mannered Texas fans, so it was weird to get so much aggression from WVU fans unprovoked.

I can't remember whether it was Herbstreit or someone else, but I laughed when they explained that Gameday was headed to Morgantown until WVU fumbled it with the loss to Ohio. I don't know why, but I enjoy rooting against WVU. Dick Rod being there makes that even easier. I've even visited Morgantown for a Texas win and enjoyed it, horns down coping from them and all. Maybe it's just the ease of generally rooting against the Big 12 and enjoying pointing and laughing at all of them.

Not to derail this thread but it seems like Morgantown is either a great experience with alcohol flowing and welcoming people or a bizarre one (to put it kindly) with toothless hicks screaming in your face and ready to throw hands at any moment. My experience was the latter.

    QUICK FINAL THOUGHTS

Connor Stroh and Cole Hutson started out this game with a bad-old-fashioned, throw-your-remote-control-at-the-TV flop of an effort where everything terrible about Stroh's fundamentals was on display, reminiscent of Texas football's offensive line play under Matt Mattox rather than Kyle Flood.

Through the first 7 total offensive snaps, Stroh allowed a TFL (along with Hutson), as well as a QB hit and a separate QB pressure. The TFL came via Stroh's continuing Achilles heel which is getting his weight out over the balls of his feet and getting overextended, allowing defenders to easily shed him by allowing him to go to the ground on his own. The hit came on a play where he opened up the gate to the inside half of his body after passing off his man in the face of a stunt, and the pressure came from getting his feet tangled up in his pass set and going to the ground. All different types of fundamental issues without a common, easily fixable thread to link them, which is concerning.

Stroh played 30 snaps with Arch Manning in the game while Umeozulu played 24. Umeozulu stayed in the game to play with the backups, both points indicating he's still second in the pecking order for now. The question is, will that change and could it be changing soon?

If we're being totally honest, we were a little bit surprised with Neto Umeozulu's high grade in this one. It wasn't like he looked All-World against SJSU and 10 of his snaps came in the waning moments of the game when Texas was able to lean on the Spartans to run out the clock, a type of game situation that Neto's natural style is best showcased in. However, we can't deny that over his small sample thus far in 2025, Neto hasn't been allowing disruption. Furthermore, he simply doesn't lose his feet as often as Stroh and wind up on the ground. A few times here and there is one thing; but watch Stroh closely and you will see that this balance issue really does plague him. The fact that he's actually playing ahead of Umeozulu at this point might, weirdly, be the biggest indictment on Umeozulu.

To the naked eye, it didn't appear that Brandon Baker had a really good game, but in doing the Deep Dig and grading back each snap, he really did play well overall and is improving -- both in pass protection and in the run game; he sparked two of the game's biggest runs on the wingback trap/counter play that they have been dialing up recently where both the right guard and the right tackle pull and then work the C-gap inside out with a kick-and-fold combination of blocks.

Even on the season, if not for penalties alone, Baker would be sitting at 26 snap per disruption allowed, a perfectly fine number and a number that 4 of 5 "starters" on the current line (including Baker himself) would gladly trade places with.

With Goosby maintaining true stud status, DJ Campbell playing well, and Brandon Baker improving, things could be pointing up for the Texas offensive line. But with the shaky play so far at center and the continuing platoon at LG, that part of the line is the one that needs the most focus in getting correct prior to SEC play. And one thing that we know is that Hutson is not going to get replaced. Kyle Flood knows more in his pinky about this offensive line than the rest of us combined, and it's his livelihood and reputation that he's putting out there every week with his personnel decisions. Based on our findings after two games, though, it only seems reasonable at this point to at least see what happens with Neto Umeozulu as a starter.

We could use a man like Hayden Conner again
