    Forward

    Wing

    Weaver, Shedrick returning

Keep Tre Johnson and land another guard and we’ll be cooking with gas.

Fine with Mitchell and Hunter back with this incoming talent too

Time to get Cream Abdul-Jabbar and send Shedrick to the bench

Yup, you can thank KD for that. He did the same to the Suns with the stupid ass Beal trade too. At least the Nets have some hope in the Suns falling apart in the future, but otherwise the next few years are pretty bleak.  Look at that:

    Suns get:

    Bradley Beal
    Jordan Goodwin
    Isaiah Todd

    Wizards get:

    Chris Paul
    Landry Shamet
Bilal Coulibaly (No. 7 pick, via Pacers)
    2024 first-round pick swap
    2024 second-round pick
    2025 second-round pick
    2026 first-round pick swap
    2026 second-round pick
    2027 second-round pick
    2028 first-round pick swap
    2028 second-round pick
    2030 first-round pick swap
    2030 second-round pick

    Pacers get:

Jarace Walker (No. 8 pick, via Wizards)
    Future second-round pick (via Wizards)
    Future second-round pick (via Suns)

It seems like trades involving Chris Paul are a fleecing for the team that trades him. The Hornets, Clippers, Rockets, and Suns all got fleeced when they traded him away. Only the Thunder did well.

  3. Terry doesn't teach rebounding, defense, or make adjustments. He has a 40% hit rate out of the portal and loves the scrubs from low D1 teams. He gets his ass kicked by Scott Drew. I understand we aren't just going to fire him right away, but this is what I expected when we hired him, and I don't see that changing. We just aren't fundamentally sound.

That effort when Disu went down was embarrassing. I'm not going to blame free throw disparity when I have seen the Big 12 refs do it to us over and over. Great teams play defense, make adjustments, something. We aren't going anywhere without Disu, but could we at least try?

actually tennessee would be a pretty terrible matchup as well, but is anyone here actually going to say they’d rather face uconn in round two over a rick barnes coached team?

edit: tennessee, marquette, unc, and KU is who i’m seeing as projected 2 seeds now. bring on any one of those teams if it means avoiding uconn.

A Texas-Marquette game would be 55-50 with both teams refusing to rebound and turning the ball over 20 times.

Spent the days before my latest scan filled with dread, convinced my luck had run out and I'd be full of goblins. But then I decided, "Fuck cancer, I'm gonna have a good day no matter what cancer wants to do."

Saw the doc this morning, she handed me the report, and summed it up: "This was a GOOD scan." Nothing grew, some lesions even went down a little.

I told her I posted on a football board where there was a cancer section and I'd share this good news. She wants me to tell all y'all fuckers to buck up, eat healthy, take your medicine, and be of good cheer.

Now to avoid falling down the stairs.

The pre-scan anxiety is real. My scans are on Tuesday, and  warn people in advance that I’ll get more anxious as we get closer but will be fine. I’m now about eight months into remission. Just one more good set of scans should get more through graduation of business school, then I can come back to Texas.

  6. Bad coaches are overconfident in their abilities to fix bad players and form rosters around them. Terry came in here thinking he could win with a horrible backcourt, no rebounding, and no defense. He thought he could just add scrubs like Onyema, Shedrick, and Horton to replace our two blue chips, Holland and Johnson. Sure, it could just be the result of transition and a lack of foresight for one year. But there's no culture or identity with this team, and I can't say anyone has really improved other than Weaver and maybe Disu coming back from injury. There's no indication that Terry will ever be much better than he was at previous stops, and his track record isn't good. We care too much about optics, but if a good coach like Lloyd was available, I wouldn't hesitate to move on from Terry.

I generally like his stuff. This was fine but a couple of misses on his end, understandably.

Think RockyTop is annoying? Its mouthbreathing inbred brother is Boomer Sooner or whatever the fuck that song’s official name is. Just idiotically repeating those two words over and over again for 4+ quarters. Nothing in college sports music is worse.

Much like the Bama idiots this past September, the rest of these idiotic fanbases are going to be pretty dumbfounded to discover that we all lack the dickless and embarrassing sensitivities of coaches Rodney Terry and Mack Brown when it comes to horns down. Do that shit as much as y’all like and we will mock you with it when we win. Also, it’s a source of pride that it happens at basically every televised sporting event in America now, whether Texas is playing or not. It’s like the John 3:16 signs from the 80’s or the Wazzou flag at every Gameday location. We’ve come to expect seeing it, living rent free, and are rarely disappointed. So bring it, hillbillies.

SEC fans are creating this narrative that we are some sort of precious snowflakes who have never been to an away game before. Those of us who went to Tuscaloosa last year were dishing it back in the Bama fans' faces before the game because we're used to it, and I think it caught a lot of them off guard. Since most SEC teams don't have a lot of history with us, they really don't have a lot of ammunition to use and will come at us with their lame horns down comments. There's nothing scary about it, and none of us - from the players to the fans - will have any issue with it.

Weaver has played starter-level minutes in the last 3 games (28, 25, 26).

I am about as anti-Horton as one can be but it's obvious at this point that he will have to play 15 minutes a night. Need to figure out if those minutes are best served as a starter or as a 6th man where he was awful earlier in the season.

I say we go full Mike D’Antoni and play six guys the whole game. Screw Horton and Brock

The reason Houston will get tripped up in the tournament is because the offensive stretch they are currently in happens far too often and someone will get hot against their defense.

That’s said about them every year, and yet they’re consistently making the second weekend and putting themselves in position to contend for the title. I would take that in a heartbeat

Mitchell has cost himself so much money.  He’s trending the wrong direction.

He should transfer to a program that has an actual plan for him. Sampson at least would make him a pick-and-pop shooter and an amazing defender. Same for Scott Drew. It's reminiscent of how Shaka wasted so much talent and developed no one.

  11. The Texans’ needs seem to be interior offensive line, interior defensive line, wide receiver, and coverage safety. Some of those could be addressed when guys like Tank Dell return from injury. The temptation will be to focus on wide receiver in free agency, but getting a really good lineman like Chris Jones or DJ Reader should be the priority.

  12. The only good thing I can say is that at least this is the last year of Lowell Galindo and Longhorn Network. I slogged through seven years of that with Shaka and would rather be sent to the gulag than do that again.

Most of the stats favor Texas. The glaring ones that do not are related- rebounds, points in the paint, and fg attempts.

Being so bad at the Four Factors reminds me of a certain former coach at Marquette who was notorious for similar stat lines while here.

Oh - by the fucking way - we aren't firing him until likely the end of next season at the least.

So anyone commenting "he probably doesn't get fired this season" - yeah no fucking shit.

Y'all realize the dipshit before him went six fucking full seasons at Texas without winning a tournament game.

Not without making a nice run - without winning a damn game.

Terry was at the helm when we won the B12 tourney and made the EE and should have went further.

Dude gets 2 full seasons no fucking question.

(That said I will be here with the rest of you demanding he resigns 12 games into his 2nd season)

And that absolutely should not be how we operate a basketball program at this university. Sunk cost -> move on. We can have actual standards with this program. This isn't a criticism of you but the administration if they're going to treat basketball differently.
