Had my first yearly scans for stage 3 rectal cancer at MDAnderson. Colonoscopy, ct of abdomen and pelvis and blood work. All negative. Surgery site looks pristine, no masses in the abdomen and blood work normal. One down, four more to go (you’re as close to cured as possible after five years).

Congratulations!  That first-year scan is definitely the most nerve-wracking.

Yeah, I'm afraid we may have seen the last of the pimp cane. I'm sure aggy will probably go back to a familiar, and traditional, redneck prop:

I am, personally, trying to ruin the greeting card industry.

For birthdays, valentines, mothers day, etc. instead of buying cards I just to a couple of stores, find a few cards that I like, whip out my phone and take pictures of the cards.
Then when said day arrives, I text the photos to my family; I also send my adult kids pictures of birthday cakes, and tWife gets pictures  of roses, candies and other things that cost too much and either spoil or we don't really need.

FWIW - I am waiting to be kicked out of a store for my shenanigans, but fuck $4-$6-$9 for some stupid card.

I am inspired.  Mothers Day is right around the corner.

Any tips on spraying for mesquitos? Leaving for the weekend so figured I would spray the yard and give it a few days where the dog won’t be out there. Or is it too early?

Starting to buy plants that help repel the bastards.

Bifenthrin (aka Talstar) is my favorite all-purpose insecticide, and it is safe around pets. Also great for fleas and ticks. It is not very selective, though. It pretty much nukes all insects, so if you have any honeybees or any other beneficial insects, this may be something you want to avoid.

    Why the blue dye?

Blue dye, also known as turf marker, is so  you can see where you have sprayed; this stuff (Celsius) is high-dollar, so you definitely do not want to double-spray.  I guess burnt orange turf marker would be preferable, if you can find it....

Going to try this. Seems like it'll last a few years.

    Any specific surfactant?

Any nonionic surfactant will do; available at any garden store.  Unless you're spraying a cotton field, get the smallest container you can find.

Celsius. Made by Bayer. About $150 on Amazon. Put about a tablespoon in a 4 gallon pump up sprayer with a surfactant and some blue dye and just spray the yard. In 2 weeks everything will be dead except the Bermuda and st Augustine.

It's the only thing I've found that will kill Virginia buttonweed.

Big fan of Celsius here, well worth the money.  Especially nice to use in hot weather, in that it doesn't burn the grass like other herbicides can do in the heat.  Add in some Certainty if you have a sedge problem, and this may be all you'll ever need.  And, whatever you do, don't skip out on the surfactant.

  8. I need to start a 10lb butt on the smoker in the evening  - earliest I can start is around 6:00 - and have it ready to serve at noon the next day.  Kind of a screwy deal with timing, and my shitty work schedule precludes me from tending to the smoker all night.  Anyone have experience starting a butt on the smoker, then finishing in the oven?  Suggested times and temps for each?
