This made me laugh, but I think that might be taking it a little far. Coy and this malt are really good, but that rye really didn’t do it for me at all. The heritage barrel special release is good in the way that Rock Hill Farms is good, but I’m not going crazy for it. Making something like WLW or GTS must be really hard or more distilleries would be cranking out halo products.
Not the least of which is aging whiskey 12-15 years is expensive and less profitable than tons of 4 year old shelf handles.

I’m going to pull the trigger on a Nashville Rye not Roses in a couple weeks.
You won’t be disappointed. Realize it isn’t cheap. But it’s a fantastic hyper aged MGP rye with just the right amount of pickle.

Maple finished ryes are fantastic. Marries very well with the rye spice. Love me some maple/honey cask finished bourbons too.

What’s your process?I typically first locate all the inventory that matches my ISO. Most of the manufacturer websites allow you to build and check dealer inventory.
Then I email the dealerships (usually fleet managers as they are user friendly) with my offer stating I am doing the same for like models at other dealers. Also state I am going to select the dealer who gives me the best price / matches most closely my offer.
then the paperwork is very easy. All of the dealers have shipping partners these days. Some even offer free transport.

No inventory of any of those on lots which I would assume would be consistent in other areas but might not. A ways from you guys, TN.
If you are buying new, and know what you want, it’s really not complicated to buy in the L48 and have it delivered to your front door. Doesn’t even cost that much.
An option anyway.

Yeah, I suspect Minnick can get anything if he promises a social media post in exchange.
Henry probably knows for sure, but Minnick's I'm just a normal guy shtick is tiresome.
I’m waiting for him to create oppressed black man shtick. Wouldn’t shock me. He’s a pandering shitstain.

Some crazy good Nashville barrel company reissues just dropped.
Grab the maple finished for some kick ass bourbon.

And on the topic of barrel picks, I’m probably going to select a couple for myself at NBC. I’ll be sure to give everyone here an at cost ROFR based on the outcome.

someone explain store picks to me. guy at goody goody told me that they do not send people to try the juice, they pretty much point and say "we will take that one" without much pomp and circumstance. if i was steve goody goody i would be picking the shit out of the barrel that i want.
Many receive samples. Some defer to master blender/distiller. A few go to the source.
I’ve done the sample route and the source route. While I much prefer the distillery approach (obviously - way more fun), I’ve also picked great barrels from samples sent to me.
That said, it’s 100% about your buying power and/or connections. They don’t give everyone the honey barrels from which to select.

Young MGP rye is the only MGP rye for this guy. Sweet spot for pickle is 7-8 years. I do enjoy some older ones, but they mellow and lose that edge which makes them so unique.

I had a couple Beam, Early Times and Fitzgerald decanters. Got a raging headache from overconsumption of lead. Suggest you drink those in moderation.

If you want recommendations as to which to try, hit me up. Had most of them.

I have two things to add to this malaise.
1) 2022 George T Stagg is tits. Like you need to get in on this. ASAP.
2) for the uninitiated, Nashville barrel company and their endless supply of heavy char Kelvin cooperage MGP is not to be missed. Sure. It’s pricey at retail, but a fraction of what it costs secondary for some amazing bourbon and rye. Highly recommend “Rye not roses” as it every bit as good as the limited edition smooth ambler ryes.

I’d have HH17 in my top two pours of 2022. I think 2022 GTS deserves solid acclaim.
But doing KoK blind is kind of funny to me. I can taste that Brown Forman blind, double blind and triple blind. Also happens to be my top pours all time. Best Willetts that weren’t cask strength Bernheim I’ve ever had were Brown Forman.

Well, if people want to be retarded and overpay, why not? I also have an unopened bottle of Stagg Jr. Batch 1 if anyone wants to over pay for that shit too.
Single most disgusting pour bottled. I have 24.2 ounces left.

Texas 39 -19 with a late 7 points by UTEP as time runs out. But I understand how it might have confused Wahlberg... 😉
