Austin already a sanctuary city /homeless magnet and as PC as can be so why would anyone think that UT admin would not act like Cal Texas. The only saving grace is that there  are BMDs who give shit. Think Plonsky, Think Lowell Galindo. Think EoT debacle and LHB.

WTF has UT Admin done lately to demonstrate their commitment to becoming/ regaining top tier athletic status for the major sports?

Yup. Sad to see the direction of this great city and where it's heading. Gonna be LA 2.0 at this rate.

If you’ve been following along then you know that thus far the arc of my sense of the Urban saga has basically been: there is mutual interest, maybe this is happening, I don’t think this is happening, this definitively isn’t happening to, finally, a little more optimistic than “not happening” but still not over a 40% chance, at best.

What I‘ve heard today from two separate sources confirms that latest sentiment.

***One source offered their sense of the situation saying that it’s their belief that right now Urban is trying to talk himself into it but that he may not really want to get back into coaching just yet. Source added, “that’s a lot of money (to turn down)”.

***Second source indicates Urban has informally turned down the job now “more than once” but Texas has continued to sweeten the pot.

Taking the above into consideration, you can fully understand how my personal sentiment has developed. Before last week, it seemed possible. I turned very bearish over the weekend because, again, we got the sense that Urban said no. Then late Sunday we got word that the offer had gone out and mid-week we learned that Texas was really going to do whatever they had to which turned me less bearish. Still, hard to be bullish here because you’re dealing with a situation where there are plenty of reasons to take the job but you have a coach who simply may not be ready to coach and seems to have indicated that.

Is 12 million vs 10 million going to change that? Is more control going to change that? Perhaps, but again, you’re betting on an inactive coach deciding to return, once again, to college football. And it’s hard to gauge that.

Good update. I kinda feel like UT gets the sense that it probably won't happen and may be starting plan ahead with Mullen/Franklin etc.

For the guy asking the question - I'm sure the "yep" clarified everything.

Pretty obvious he's saying intentionally vague shit to not get called out if he's wrong.

    Sorry guys. Long day.

Like I said 2 days ago. Family and wife were a issue. Like I said a day ago they are on board.

News cycle is 24hr or later behind on what’s real

Guy seems full of crap tbh. He's made some other shitty predictions that flopped.

it shouldn't take this long. the cards have been on the table since monday. if he really wanted the job, i'd think he'd accepted it by now. i see this delay as him and people trying to convince him to take the job when his head says no. or maybe he's not getting the yeses he thought he would easily get from his old staff and is trying to convince them. either way, the delay probably doesn't bode well.

this is where i am now.

This is how I feel. It's December 3rd, if he really wanted the job I think we would know by now. Probably still mulling it over but it taking this long doesn't bode well.

Royal was done at 52.   Its even more pressure now.  as long as Notre Dame/tOSU has a coach I'd think he's done if we can't pry him away.

Agreed. Still think we have a shot at Urban but it went from 75-25 he's coming to 60-40 he isn't.

Ohio State fans saying on twitter that something on their premium board indicating he isn't coming to Texas.  Doesn't mean he isnt but something to follow.

Can anyone confirm or post this? Probably just Bucks fans being salty but still.

The shittiness of our facilities has always been fucking puzzling, considering the amount of money football generates for the athletic department. I've never understood how they haven't been upgraded in, what, 20 years?

It really is embarrassing. Just shows you how complacent this program has gotten for whatever reason.

Devil's advocate, but what motivation would Urban have to turn Texas down but continue to string this out secretly until they found their plan B? He has no obligation or incentive to protect Texas from a PR standpoint and I'm sure some of this frenzy is getting back to him and his family. If he's already decided to pass it seems in his best interests to release that information now and let UT deal with the fallout. What does he care?

    He's probably mulling it over.

We will hear he turned it down the second he does.. the fact we are hearing nothing means at worst he's still considering.  Now all the flightaware Horseshoe bay golfing saga I think might be a pipe dream.

    lol
