The problem isn't the price. It's crude type and the integrity of the caverns themselves. We will see about the latter.

Can you expand on this? What is the integrity issue with the salt domes? Over geologic time, sure, but are you talking about something on human time scales?

  2. I've been blowing through series in recent years.
    Series I have finished:
The Silo Saga, Hugh Howy - 3 books, enjoyed all of them
The Final Architecture, Adrian Tchaikovsky - 3 books, loved them all
Children of Time Novels, Adrian Tchaikovsky - 3 Books, they are exceptionally well done, but I can't say I really enjoy them.  They frankly make me feel sad
Undying Mercenaries, BV Larson - 19 books so far.  They're light, fun military Sci-Fi.  As long as you don't take it too serious, they're a blast.
Steamborn Series, Eric Asher - 7 books so far.  I love the setting of steampunk, but have never reallyr ead much in it.  This came on some amazon recommendation and I've enjoyed it so far.
Expeditionary Force, RC Bray - 15 books.  Much like Undying Mercenaries, it's light, fun military Sci-fi and absolutely hilarious.  Loved it.
Frontlines, Eric Dove - 8 books.  I think this series is finished.  More serious military Sci-fi, but not too deep.  Enjoyed it as a light read.
The Long Winter, AG Riddle - 3 books.  Loved the first one, kind of liked the second, really didn't care for the third one.
The Interdependency, John Scalzi - 3 books.  I read the first one back in 2015 and completely forgot about it.  Picked up the last two last year and while it wasn't bad, definitely not his best work either.
Academy, Jack McDevitt - 8 books.  I read these on and off for years.  Loved the early ones but really felt the last few fizzled out.
    Stand along books:
The Doors of Eden, Adrian Tchaikovsky - He's a really smart author.  This book was a little difficult at the beginning, but I really liked it overall.
Project Hail Mary, Andy Weir - Not as good as the Martian, better than Artemis

I'll check out Undying Mercenaries based on this because we have a bit of overlap looks like. Thanks.

The first four novellas of Murderbot Diaries are awesome, too. Loved them all and saw that Apple TV is picking it up. They seem to be targeting the scifi market from what I can tell.

Currently on The Girl with all the Gifts at the moment. Not bad so far...

  3. Crossing posting from winter thread. Fuck Miles.

Re: no heat at Love. It was similar at Harvard Elementary. No heat yesterday and today. A lot of the older campuses have so many bandaids it's ridiculous. Requests to replace the HVAC system have been made but it keeps getting rejected...big surprise.

I get that it's not cheap to update old schools with modern equipment, but can the people bitching about books, bathrooms, vouchers, etc please just sit down and let the adults fix actual issues such as these? We are sapping resources when we need them most. And the Miles comes out and says he regrets closing schools on Tuesday? GTFO with that BS.

  4. The NFL as a whole lost me again when millionaires who get paid to play a game started telling me I'm racist.
I won't give a shit about Dallas or the NFL again until they knock off the bullshit.

Lol with this take. No one told you you're racist and you know you'll keep watching. Calm down.

  5. Whatever happened with the much ballyhooed Cline shale play on the far eastern end of the Permian? Wasn't there supposed to be 20-30 barrels in it or was it just a big bust?
It's still a thing and there are some full developments of it besides just single wells here and there. But it's so clay rich compared to the Spraberry and Wolfcamp that it's just so far down the queue of development. Also, the Barnett in the Midland Basin is now a legit bench (not everywhere, though) and operators are putting capital towards appraising that now, too. It's basically a $60 oil bench before you start thinking about it.

  6. Checking in almost a year later from when I started changing my routine and eating habits. Flu also got me for the last two weeks, so this is definitely as low as I want to go. Down to 157 as of this morning. Started this last Christmas morning at 211. I need to be around 165. I need to lift more and maybe run a little less. My ass is gone, bring on the squats.
Good job, man. We are at a similar range...was at 215 this summer and now down to 173 after cutting most carbs and booze. Looking back, can't believe all the crap I was eating throughout the years that I'd somehow justify to myself. On a much better track now.
