  1. I think Murphy is a great take for recruiting reasons alone. I think its a decent gamble that one of Card/Thompson pans out so in my mind we are looking for a serviceable backup if we cant get Ewers. Murphy doesnt need to be a world beater when he steps foot on campus. He needs to develop under Sark for a year while we target a stud in the 2023 class like Manning. If Murphy pans out then we have the high ceiling scenario that has earned him all of these top offers, if he doesnt he transfers out and we keep all of his buddies he convinced to jump on board. Just seems like a decent play to me, especially with the transfer portal and Sark's reputation as a QB whisperer.

You can bet the Mannings will make a very well educated decision and Texas should have a "leg up". Those Mannings have been seriously exploiting their NIL for decades. They are all about capitalizing on that shit. I'm guessing it will be a huge factor.

That plus they really like Sark as a coach. If the sister actually ends up on campus baby we got a stew goin.

How this ever became a thing is mind bottling. The wealthiest program in the country, the flagship of school of Texas, one of the most powerful alumni bases, our own network, and someone honestly tries to make the argument that our NIL program won’t be one of if not the most lucrative in the country is out of their gotdamn minds.

Whats mind bottling is why you're surprised other staffs are trying to diminish the natural advantage we have with this stuff. Its called recruiting.

Texas is the top dog in social media on an annualized basis, rivaled basically by Clemson. You took the single month in which 3 other teams played in the CFP and used it as a definitive premise, and that is incorrect. If you're going to take a position like that, do the work to verify it.

I'm not taking a position, I'm trying to demonstrate how a program like Bama or Ohio State could try to use the NIL against us. The whole thing is a grey area right now, so I could easily see piece-meal data like January's social media numbers being used to represent their NIL value over us. That's a strong image and these arent typically MBA students they're pitching to.

Could there be a less representative month than January? Of course the 2 teams who played in the only meaningful games separated from the pack. I don't follow this shit, so maybe it looks the same August-Dec, but I doubt it.

Yea keep in mind the coaches really dont know what the NIL will mean yet either. Its all smoke and mirrors, I'm just trying to come up with ways that they could use it against us. Those January numbers would demonstrate to recruits and their parents that playing in the playoff will make you money.

  6. I doubt these kids or their parents have any idea what the NIL stuff will actually mean. If I were recruiting against us, I would be trying to convince them that the real money will be in the exposure you get from playing in conference championships and playoff games.

Also, social media fan engagement has gotta factor in somewhere and a kid like Stewart speaks that language. We are competitive in that space but not close to top dog. The numbers actually arent great for us if youre fighting for an absolutely elite kid that cares about that stuff.

I'm sure our NIL pitch is excellent, but is it better than the current top recruiting dogs out there? Who knows. I think it's at least understandable how someone like Ewers' dad could look at the above numbers inside a recruiting pitch from the Ohio State staff, and buy into their argument that their program reloads while our program is trying to rebuild and that means they're a safer monetary bet for his son.

The fact there isn't already a 1000 page thread dedicated to Gomorra: La Serie is a gotdamn human tragedy.  It is one of the best shows I've ever seen.  If you thought the Sopranos was groundbreaking because the protagonist was a sociopath, I present to you Gomorra:La Serie, where there are no discernable protagonists and everyone is more or less murderous, unrepentent, and beyond redemption.  That we could spend years across boards and multiple threads hashing over the steaming pile of dogshit that GoT became, and there are like three casual mentions of Gomorra is a travesty.

So true, amazing television. Have you seen season 4? I've heard its completely awful and that the show wouldve done well to end after season 3.

  8. I'd imagine Day has done a good job of selling Ewers on having a sure thing ready for him to step into. They have a ton of ammo to use against us as a program. Ewers was impressed with our pitch to make him the focus of a massive NIL campaign. If Ohio State convinced him that they can do that just as well, but give him a much more likely chance at making the playoff and potentially winning a championship, then he may just be looking at it as a business decision where he stands to make more money with Ohio State. I don't know if thats true or not, but I'd bet thats a large part of where Sark needs to focus.

    Cash and the TSA

There's no legal limit on how much cash you can carry through a TSA checkpoint. But the TSA may ask you to justify any unusual amounts of cash you're carrying, and your answers (or lack thereof) and general demeanor could trigger a report to law enforcement entities like the Drug Enforcement Agency that can, in turn, seize your cash. So the biggest takeaway is that if you're going to carry a large amount of currency, make sure you have a legitimate, legal reason for doing so – and leave yourself some extra time at the airport in case you must explain why you're carrying it.

If you're flying out of Atlanta you just start barking at the TSA agent and they let you through.
