  1. I still opine that the 4 corner schools lower the average value of the Big12, but it's your conference now guys, you do you. At least you don't have to worry about three of the four schools challenging for any championships for a while.
  2. If Stanford ends up out of a prestige conference does that help us win more Director's Cups?(!)
  3. yep. 50% shared evenly, 50% distributed based on number of appearances Unequal revenue sharing will remain - ESPN - Big 12 Blog- ESPN
  4. UCLA has only played in 13 Rose Bowl games and hasn't been since before the Y2K scare. They play home games in the building, but I wouldn't say the Rose Bowl was basically them.
  5. We have these 15 important matchups over here for the next 4 weeks but also, please watch this game because it has a parade with cars made out of flowers.
  6. Wait, you are telling me people affiliated with multiple universities started work before 8:00AM to hold this meeting? seems unlikely
  7. This appears to be why Cal is getting caught on their backfoot with no plan in place UC Regents: UCLA to leave for Big Ten, will pay Cal $2 to $10 million, reportedly annually (writeforcalifornia.com) Basically they are getting a check from UCLA to make up for some of the difference between PAC12 payout. I'm guessing they were hearing the $20M rumors and adding $10M to that.
  8. They do get one last chance this season. Every Cal fan younger than 65 has never had Cal play in a Rose Bowl in their lifetime. My daughter had been to three bowl games in the Rose Bowl before she was 8.
  9. Looks like Nebraska took 5 years to get a full share. The articles I found make it seem like USC and UCLA get full shares immediately. Its sports media, so who knows.
  10. First of all, that sounds like a win for them but, secondly, what about how it was so evil for the Big12 to not have even revenue sharing when the whole world wanted to steal those sweet University of Texas bucks? But, third, how can Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Rutgers make more than UO and that last long term?
  11. I need to read the Know your Florida school thread! South Florida. I'm gonna work on forcing a rivalry between ASU and UCF regardless.
  12. Horns up vs shocker? oh shit, that is Southern Florida....Back to the drawing board
  13. To me (and this isn't just a Big12 issue) you can't flex about your OOC schedule if you have FCS schools on it. Those shouldn't even count as wins and if you lose you should be relegated or something.
  14. If rivalries have to be invented, it seems like other factors could be used instead of geography: BYU and Baylor - Because God Tech and WVU - Because screaming ISU and Colorado - Because beer vs pot KState vs Arizona - Wildcats vs Wildcats Arizona State vs Central Florida - Devil horns vs Bull horns Houston vs TCU - TCU got Houston's spot years ago, time for payback OkState and Kansas - Because you are the man of the house now Cowboy and losing to Kansas sucks (we know) Utah vs Cincinatti - Red and white vs red and black is basically black vs white, a classic rivalry
  15. West Virginia is going to pick their own rival, thank you very much. You will find out who that is when they start screaming at them.
  16. Every remaining original Big12 school is losing their primary rival with UT leaving.
  17. "It's still fraud, though!" sly wink - FSU regents Edit: left out the knowing wink across the third wall
  18. That seems like they need a 2/3 or 3/4 majority according to Section 1.6 but it is a lot of words and I don't want to invest in figuring our which it is, 8/15 is less than both of those. ....Maybe that is FSU's fraud angle. Something like "Lots of words, who could be expected to read all thet. Obvious intent to defraud!" Could work in a Florida court and you know it could.
  19. If 8 want to leave, can they vote to dissolve the conference? Maybe that is FSU's grand plan?
  20. Isn't the PAC's inclusion as an Autonomous Conference revokable by majority vote just like it was formed? Why wouldn't all the other P5 schools and G5 schools that are not involved in a merger not vote to take that designation away? I don't think these schools can con their way into keeping this special status.
  21. I think the PAC playing the ACC would certainly be more valuable than the current PAC. not sure if the ACC value is increased. The scheduling alliance didn't add any value.
  22. These 4 corner schools are not the biggest names in a conference worth low $20M per school and contractually they get $31M in the Big12 because of the current contract. But don't they devalue the conference (on a per school basis) relative to the next contract? or are some of these schools just going to move around contract to contract?
  23. Prime and Hulu are doing this too. I believe if you have the advanced boxes from Xfinity you can watch several of the streaming services through your cable box (though you are actually streaming the content).
  24. Didn't know about this. Good news for people who can't figure this out.
  25. Things are going to get weird in bars unwilling to deal with streaming when NFL Sunday Ticket is on YoutubeTV this year.
