  1. His VP pick is probably the easiest olive branch. A Warren or Harris selection would be progressive or at least perceived that way.  There’s also an enormous feminist movement we never talk about here that he should exploit.  But he’ll probably go with Pete Buttigieg or some dumb shit like that.
I agree with Warren and would be happy with Harris, but is Harris really be a progressive choice? She strikes me as fairly establishment.
  2. If that were all of it, you'd have a great point.
I would love a sane, rational, emotionally-mature leader to debate these points in a way that bridged the legitimate concerns of hunters and gun enthusiasts with the reality of mass gun deaths.
Instead, the head of our ticket is going to be an old man who cannot emotionally handle any level of criticism from lowly citizens and who feels justified in touching them aggressively, being disrespectful to them, and even physically threatening them.
    That... sucks ass.
Because Bernie has never brusquely dismissed critics?

    Excellent.

Can you tell me what is more important than ensuring healthcare for all Americans?

I would love to have M4A. But I don't get your confidence that electing Bernie would achieve that. I have no doubt he would advocate for it strongly, but his inability to attract people to his message during a Democratic primary where voters are sympathetic to his views doesn't instill much confidence that he could achieve much with moderate Dems and of course Republicans.

If Joe's coat tails are able to flip the Senate so that Dems control all three branches, then I could see the progressive wing and even moderate Dems passing a public option which is probably the only foothold we'll realistically get to transitioning to M4A. I get you want it all now, but that's just not realistic no matter how much you want it to be so IMO.

  4. Trump is so terribly flawed and incompetent (and too much of a coward) to ultimately accomplish much, which puts a big governor on how much damage he can do (so far anyway ... hopefully it continues).   But he has far worse intentions and values than anyone who has held the office in my lifetime.
That's fair. But if hundreds of thousands and potentially millions of Americans die from the Carona virus due to Trump's incompetence, then I think he over takes GW for worst President and worst person in the office ever.

I'll take that as conceding the point regarding the article provided in the OP.

    1) Read article in guardian which doesn't really have anything to do with GOP voter suppression.

    2) Start thread titled "Why do Republicans hate democracy".

    3) Predictable circle jerking ensues.

    4) Disappear.

But I am the one trolling here?

You know Republicans have consistently worked to suppress votes. That makes them traitors and makes you a piece of shit for trying to both sides their evil.

  6. "The entire fucking system is un-democratic and is intended to benefit the entrenched interests of the political establishment at the expense of democracy."
There are flaws in the Democratic primaries to be sure, but it hasn't been Democrats in nearly every red state that have systematically tried to disenfranchise minority voters.

I normally overlook your bothsides bullshit, but you're being a fucking lying prick when you try to conflate the parties in this instance. You well know what the Republicans are doing and it's morally and patriotically repugnant. Fuck you man.
  7. DACA was (cough cough) not statutury. Obama spent billions without appropriations, which is what normal people would call theft. Murdering an American teen eating hummus in Yemen. The list is really, really long. He ({almost) literally said, once he couldn't get shit form Congress, that he would just make shit up.
Not excusing Trump or Obama, just saying that corruption is obviously not a one party issue. I mean, look at FDR. Dude just did as he pleased and didn't give a fuck either way. Reagan - Iran/Contra. It's a bipartisan tradition.
    Both sides!!!!

  8. Does the no recline rule apply to long flights too? I really did not know not reclining was a thing. I do look at who's sitting behind me before I recline. If they're a big person or have a baby or something like that I don't recline, but otherwise I never thought it was potentially a rude thing to do. And what if the person in front of you is reclining? Not reclining in that situation would leave you in a pretty cramped space.

  9. The height/build does matter. Part of his persona in the books was the fact that he was an imposing figure. IIRC he was even referred to as 'Bigfoot' one time. I'll watch regardless, but would love to see someone close to the character get the part.
If amazon does a Virgil Flower or Mitch Rapp series, Bezos would be my new man crush.

Agreed. Tom Cruise did a good job in the role, but the movies always seemed off because of his size. For those who've never read the books, the size of the actor won't matter. For those who've read the books, which I imagine will be a lot of viewers, I think a smaller actor will damage the shows credibility.

No--it's just that Democratic seems like it would be all encompassing as in we have a Democratic form of government rather than a term just belonging to one party.  Until now that is.  But that's why some of us say Democrat party vs Democratic.  But yeah, I can be a total cunt as well.

No, there was a concerted effort by right wing media to propagate the use of Democrat in place of Democratic which was gleefully taken up by their witless cunt GOP followers.

  11. I didn't realize that Icono guy was himself an immigrant. The audacity for him to look down on Mexican immigrants is impressive considering the massive positive impact those immigrants have had on America and the length of time they have been coming compared to his recent immigration status.

Why don't you do us all a favor and go back to where you came from. That's the favorite Trumpkin line, right?
