  1. Well, at least gives some kind of incentive for England or Belgium to try to win their group to face Japan instead of Colombia. But the second round and overall prestige on that side of the bracket still appears to be much easier.

It's frustrating, but then if you look at the percentage of goals scored off set pieces, which while not the majority are a very substantial percentage when you consider that the time spent on set pieces in a match probably accounts for no more than 5% of the match (and most of that is spent just lining it up) I think it drives the mindset.  Plus yellow cards put pressure on a player to loosen up his defense to avoid a second in the match, and in a tournament like this an accumulation issue.

Seems like there is a pretty big incentive built into the game to flopping and until they get really serious about making simulation an issue (and it's subjective so like pass interference in football a lot of times it is going to get argued to death) it isn't going to stop.

I don't have as much of a problem with flopping strategically to win a free kick or penalty.  It's a strategy to win the game.  It's not the most admirable thing to do, but it is strategy.

What I can't stand is that with every possible foul, players instantly grimace and clutch various body parts.  95% of the time we know they're not really injured.  They know they're not injured. They're elite athletes capable of playing through pain but almost every time they go down with a facial expression like they're giving birth.  I absolutely love soccer and the World Cup but this is one thing that drives me absolutely nuts.

And the problem is it happens so routinely that it's literally programmed into players as they develop.  Get hit hard = fall down and make a pained facial expression.  So annoying.

Fox sports go is almost as bad as watchespn when a big event is on. Choppy stream. Telemundo sports is way better in picture quality and announcing.

I've been streaming on Fox Sports Go on my phone and computer at work for the whole tournament, no problems whatsoever.  Good video quality and haven't lost the stream at all.

  4. Oh also I was bored the other night and flipped over for the start of World Cup Tonight on FS1.

Wow that was so bad I couldn't last more than 5 minutes.  Clearly they're trying to replicate the ESPN version from before but they have Fernando Fiore as the host instead of a Bob Ley or Rece Davis.  And Fiore plays it up like a stooge insead of an actual host.  Just terrible

Holy Hell! I didn't really understand what everyone was bitching about regarding Fox's commentators. I'm watching the replay of Japan vs Columbia............what the flying fuck?!?! If I want to listen to a Hispanic broadcaster I'll tune into Telamundo.

Nothing wrong with having a Hispanic broadcaster.  It's just that the main one for Fox is  horribad.

  6. JNip doesn't deserve shit. I was really impressed with the number of Mexicans that made it to Russia.

Yeah JNIp is an annoying troll on this site. But I know him IRL so congrats.

I still hope Mexico crashes and burns in the WC.
