I can understand why Carthage would not want to play there. The whole town would show up. I think Lampasas has a little less than 8000 residents, but that does not include Kempner residents in the East end of Lampasas County.

I can say this. I still vividly remember the 93 run when they filled up the home side of Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos with locals and people who wanted to see a team throwing the ball around the yard. A Permian fan showed up to the game. I was a freshman who suited up for that huge 94 upset win against LBJ and the whole town came to Temple. They will travel to Houston and I would not be shocked if school is cancelled. They absolutely love football there and they love what Troy Rogers has done. They may not win against this juggernaut from Carthage, who is the gold standard for winning in Texas, but it will not be because of lack of support.

There were a ton of fans there on Saturday from Burnet, Marble Falls, Gatesville, etc.  All sitting on the Lampasas side.

Don't jinx the run. Stay home and watch online. ;)

Carthage is legit.  Their OLine is huge.  We'll see how they move and their stamina.  QB is big 6'4 guy.  Defense is big and fast.  Lampasas will look small in comparison.  But so did Liberty Hill last season.  Have to just come out and outsmart and out-execute them.  Whitehead is good on the run.  I think we'll see a lot of designed roll-outs.  All those Go routes Lampasas has been running lately may not work as well vs. Carthage.  I think we'll see more complex routes this week.

  2. Storm's in Lampasas is good.  I get the Storm's Special with cheese and sub for a sourdough bun.

Brad's is legit (when it's open).  Double with cheese and get their fried okra.

Bill's Burgers in Burnet (and now in Marble Falls).  Just had one on Saturday.  Still great.  Hand-formed 1/2 lb patties that are still somewhat thin, just really big around. Good bun. Good toppings. Great onion rings.

If you go to Eve's Café in Lampasas on a Thursday or Friday, they have burgers. I've had them a few times. They're really good.  If you can convince yourself not to eat their really good schnitzel, try the burger.

  3. Dad and I are driving over to New Caney/Porter for the Lampasas football game Friday night.  We'll be leaving Austin around noon, so we have time to grab something to eat on the way, and in the morning on the way back.  Looking for recs since I'm never in that area.  We'll be taking 290 to 99 and over to 69. Staying the night in the Kingwood area.

We're always down for BBQ, Burgers, Chicken Fried Steak, Catfish, Sandwiches, etc.

Melissa was running out the clock in a tie game?

CP beat Manor 49-24 earlier this year.  Wow.

Maybe trying to just get it to OT. They were deep in their own zone. All LV had to do was run 1 play to center the ball, call a TO and kick the FG.

Liberty Hill 66 - La Feria 14. Brutal

Wimberly 63 - Raymondville 35. No se aguiten, Bearkats

Sharyland Pioneer 28 - Derkaville Weiss 21. Pioneer has won 11 straight.

Weslaco beat McAllen Memorial, will play Judson next. Bill Littleton is making a strong case for worst coach in the Texas high school ranks. Off the top of my head, in the past 13 years or so he's had Bradley Stephens, Matthew Kauffman, Jonathan Sanchez, the Speights brothers, and the Nigerian safety at UTSA come thru his program. All guys that have gone on to play FBS football. He's made it TO the third round just 3 times I think. To have that amount of talent come through a valley program and achieve so little against their peers is incredible.

Meanwhile, Coach Burget at Weslaco East is making a case for being one of the best coaches in the state given what he has to work with. Weslaco East serves the ghetto side of Weslaco (just think about that) and I don't know that he's had more that 3 or 4 players play at any level of college in his time there. They're playing at 6A with 5A numbers and a lot of his starters play on both sides of the ball. He gets the absolute most out of his players even though they lack talent & size. They beat McAllen Rowe tonight to make it to the third round for at least the 4th time this past decade I think.

    Liberty Hill won 66-7.

    Weslaco plays Lake Travis.

El Campo barely beat Fred, which really shocked me.

And beating LH will depend on if you get an officiating crew that will be willing to call that shit over and over.

And if you don't fumble it 7 times like Columbia.

Ashton Stredick for Needville had himself a game in their win over Canyon Lake - 33 carries for 508 yards and 5 TDs. Needville won 40-33 and meets Boerne next week.

And they only won by 7 over 4th place Canyon Lake.  Why was it so close?
