Yeah, but then you have to deal with all the aggy and OU grads working there.

I'm going to finally break down and cut the cord and switch to a streaming provider after the first of the year, but I fucking HATE the user experience of streaming.

I have one of these on all my TVs - like it much better than FireTV/Stick or Roku:  https://www.amazon.com/TiVo-Stream-4K-Streaming-Plug/dp/B089655HQV

It does not need a TiVo and does not play from a TiVo.  It is purely an android streaming stick.  The big difference is it not only has the micro-usb port for power, but it has a USB C port for adding whatever you want.  You can add a hub, ethernet adapter, mouse/keyboard, or a USB stick (I do that) to hold more apps.  I have a 128GB thumb drive attached to mine.  Also if you get an HDHomerun or some other OTA tuner it will show that, or you can get the channelsDVR app.  I use that because it allows you to make your own channels, so I have a kids channel, a Prince channel, a Longhorns Football games channel, and a bunch more.  I download that stuff from youtube or other places automatically and can watch it either on Plex (with the TiVo Stream 4k) or channelsDVR.  There are no fees or subscriptions or anything for this streaming stick.  You can also sideload it with whatever you need like any other android stick.  It does have a mini TiVo peanut remote - with the channel number keys, mute, and all the stuff that you wish the fire remote had.

Note - you have to make a TiVo web account to register and I think they only let you register somewhere between 4 and 8 of the sticks since they are so cheap.

I think ESPN will have it because the dispute is with the owner of KVUE, not Disney.

    I hope so, at least.

You should be able to use the ESPN app to see it IIRC.  I think they carry the ABC games but there may be some sort of a blackout thing happening as well.

You can still come to Austin. San Antonio is just an hour and a half down the road and has tons of hotel rooms.

Maybe fly into SAT, get hotel and car there - unless you are driving of course.

I thought they stopped scheduling Football and F1 on the same day after the first clusterfuck?

Of course - I agree.  But I started all this saying you want two things and it's 100% you're in.  FSU loss.  Georgia win.  Then you're in no matter what.  Someone else brought up the over Oregon path.  It gets no simpler than Georgia win and FSU loss.  But I got pushback on that hearing about some path with Oregon etc.  No, just those two things.  You wanna talk about simple?  What path is more simple than that?

Add in a Michigan loss to Iowa (unlikely) and it becomes infinitely simpler.

OU was no longer undefeated when the first CFP rankings came out.  They had just lost to Kansas 3 days prior and had almost lost to UCF the prior week.  It made our loss look pretty bad while Oregon was rolling (eye test and win against Utah right before rankings).  If OU stayed undefeated (like washington did), we never would have been behind Oregon.  I never understood why everyone was so happy about OU losing when it was bad for Texas, best case was we beat an undefeated OU in the CCG (would have been good on so many levels).  I like to see OU to lose as much as the next guy, but not when it hurts Texas.

Thanks - I've slept since then.

No way. Snap it in half and toss it in the trash.

Or put it in the trophy case with the quotes of the commissioner and his lackey and put christmas lights all around it. And a push button with laughing sounds.

My kid had a better idea.  Win the trophy, go to the SEC, and every game week tweet a picture of the trophy (in our trophy case) to the Big12 twitter account.  You know - so they remember where the trophy went.

KSU, ISU, Nebraska, etc meant nothing to us in 1994.

At least now we're playing among the absolute cream of CFB and strategically speaking it makes no sense to give any of those leftover big 12 teams any recruiting exposure. Us and aggy should absolutely dominate the state in recruiting now and the techs and TCU should fall off a cliff within 5 years without any marquee matchups left.

Already this season Baylor hasn't played on broadcast TV hardly at all since we beat them. Their games are only on ESPN+ streaming. They're fully irrelevant now. That will happen to the rest of the conference eventually and they'll have to start playing on Wednesdays to get some attention.

I wonder if the rest of the current Big12 teams realize that once Texas and OU are gone the new team that will end up running things won't even be a member until 2024?

How about neither divisions or pods? How’s that grab ya?

I actually just read an article on the 2024 SEC schedule, and they still don't know what will happen in 2025+.  I see 1+7 and 3+6 options so far with each team having 3 "fixed rivals", but as far as I know it is not decided.  2024 has no divisions so the conference championship game will be the top 2 teams (can't wait to see those tiebreakers).  I don't know if they will stay away from divisions or pods in 2025 yet.

There are some interesting arguments in this article.

I still think if they stick every team with 3 "fixed rivals" it would basically be a defacto pod, so having 4 "tier-3 rights" channels could work.

I'm going to miss it. I liked catching some random volleyball last year when we were the juggernaut marching towards a title. All the basketball games are either national TV or there. I don't have to go hunting for ESPN+ nonsense to find our games.

I don't understand why it has to shut down. It's already there so why not just rebrand as another SEC network that focuses on Longhorns or 3/4 teams? Make sure every basketball game gets broadcast and also the majority of non revenue sports.

I didn't pay complete attention to the new divisions or pods - figured I'd catch up next year.  But - it would be cool if they had an SEC network for each pod for the non-football sports, press conferences, spring games, coaches shows, etc.  That would easily be doable, and they could actually keep using the LHN studio for one of the pods.  I find myself watching LHN frequently when I have nothing to do and just want background noise.  I watched the last SWC Texas/TTU game last night.  I'll miss that stuff.
