  1. GotDAMN! I love that shop. I’m lucky enough to get by there once or twice a year.

And JJ, I’m biased against Pearl a bit to begin with and haven’t heard or seen these, but I think generally of the big makers Ludwig is the standard bearer with the vistalites. (And they just make the best kits of the mass makers not named Yamaha and not counting Sonor or DW).

And I don’t know this for sure, but acrylic isn’t particularly resonant so I would think thinner would be better. Thicker would just be all attack.

Alright, Mr. Giuliani. I know you're in there. I know you can hear me. You win, okay? You win. I can't do it any more. What d'you want from me? Apology? Alright, I'm sorry. There, I said it, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

  3. He's good, I've recorded him.  Nice guy, too.

Kevin’s also played a bit with Robb Kidd but maybe not for full-on Soulhat stuff. I played a show at SXSW where Kevin did a late night indoor set with Robb and they played 5 or 6 SH covers, including closing with Bone Crusher. It ripped.

  4. Look, they don't mean to screw you, they're really good people but... reasons, excuses, and voila, the miracle was late so you get to hold the bag.
"Sorry, I'll see you at megachurch on Sunday. I'll be wearing expensive clothes and my conscience will be unburdened."

Hey, Buddy. We’re Christians and we don’t like what you said?

    Yeah, then forgive me.

  5. Dipshits on local radio were talking about Frampton as a "one hit wonder" yesterday.  I can think of at least five.

Though not a “hit” I always loved Penny for Your Thoughts. And I’m convinced it was the progenitor of the Crowes’ Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz which is just a dadgum jam if I’ve ever heard one.

  6. I saw him at MSG in February and it was a blast (and definitely a dress rehearsal for this performance). But this CBS show is ten times more dynamic - lights, crowd, guests. I love Billy - going to his shows at MSG are less like going to see a band I can’t wait to see and more like seeing a killer Broadway show. Glad I got to see one of his last “residency” shows.

  7. I’m in Westport CT and felt it. At first sounded like it was a strong breeze but I noticed the trees totally calm….. then a little shaking which I heard more than felt (pictures, windows rattling). My wife was in her office and didn’t notice it. Dogs freaked the fuck out.

  8. I'm a lifelong Steely Dan fan and now enjoying getting my 6 yo son into it.  He can't get enough (unless it's to play some Tom Petty).  I agree with many that everything up to and including Aja ruled then they started to diminish; but I actually like Gaucho a lot.  The only SD songs I don't like are Haitian Divorce and East St. Louis Toodle-Oo.  I also, frankly, don't love Do It Again.

I finally got to see them a couple years ago and, man, I regret not seeing them when Becker was alive.  Still put on a fantastic show.  And while he's not quite Steve Gadd, Keith Carlock live is an absolute killer drummer.

  9. Spoiler

Wait, just so I’m clear… at the end did Nagakado go solo to the willow world to kill Saeki of his own volition…. Failed and then just slipped and died? Or was he killed? Was Kiku in on it?

  10. Did Dame Saturday but I didn’t take pics. It was fucking great.

We Thw Notebook, Suffs, Lempicka and Appropriate.

Appeopriate is amazing. Suffs is very good. Lemoicka is fantastic vocals with a weak book. And I fucking HATED Notebook.

Did the theaters ask you to turn off your cell phone AND your auto-correct?
