  1. I posted it out during the season that other than making some flashy plays their defense was actually not good on a down to down basis against the run. Auburn would have beat then if they would have just kept running the ball, as they were getting plus yardage every time they ran and had a few longer runs sprinkled in. Their defenses # were boosted by their pathetic schedule.

I'm not a football genius, but Tennessee's decision to augment their solid running game by throwing long, low percentage passes was idiotic enough that I could see it. I don't know if that's Heupel's general habit or not, but those failures were drive killers.

I also felt A&M's defense was vulnerable on the edges. A lot of the Vol's successful runs broke to the outside.

    Their rush is excellent.

Yep, I think if you have a capable interior ol and you can run some outside run concepts against them the you can absolutely abuse the second level defenders.

Yeah I was surprised how well Tennessee was running on them in the second half.

I think that there is a big misconception that their D-line is elite. This is caused by the fact that they get a lot of penetration causing negative rushing plays as well as sacks. When you look into it though, those stats are inflated from the first few games against the sisters of the poor schools they played, that combined with the fact that the teams that have realized they suck in coverage and realizing they could just air it out has lead to their per game rush yards against looking better than they actually are. I'm willing to be Ole Miss absolutely gashes them on offense with the run game.

  4. Also, if you watch their games, their run defense isn't actually great once you get past the first level. If Tennessee had stopped throwing the ball they likely would of had a pretty easy win. The only thing their D-line seems to be good at is getting penetration, but if you can avoid getting hit in the backfield there's plenty of easy yardage there to be had. I was saying it when they played Auburn that if they had stopped trying to throw the ball they could have won that game.

  5. While this loss suck and still stings, I think it may help the team refocus and stop coming out so flat on offense. Other than really that last drive our defense played winning ball and our offense just continued to shoot themselves in the dick drive after drive. I could still see ousux dropping a game in conference maybe even two. Our goal is to make it to  and win the conference championship so we need to come out with our hair on fire the next few weeks and put any doubts to rest. We are still the best team in conference, use this week to get healthy, get Robertson settled in at center, and for the love of God get the safety rotation settled and quit switching them out constantly.

Probably already been covered, but this game worries me.

    - 4-0

    - Riding high on a #3 ranking

    - Huge rivalry game the following week

    - A Kansas team that is no joke

I could see this team having a letdown/trap game and getting beaten.  I've watched Kansas play a couple of games now and they are no slouch.  They aren't going to the CFP, but they don't suck and will not be an easy win if we lose focus and bring less than our A game.

We are a far better team, and if we play our best vs. their best, we win by 2-3 touchdowns.  If we don't and they do, we lose.

    Pussy, Horns by 30!

I love this podcast/show. This was a really good episode, one of the few times where someone who is covering what that staff did got appropriately pissed off. The fact that all sports media has seemingly forgotten about this, and has failed to ask anyone associated with atm about Durkin's role and responsibility in this is appalling.
