  1. I had the same truck in jet black from 94 to 01. Great truck.

I missed out on a black one that had been converted to the 3.4. This one is slow as molasses, but really fun.

Going on a honeymoon next spring which will take us to Switzerland among other places.  Fiancee just mentioned that I should get a watch while I'm there.  I don't really disagree.  Kinda thinking about Tudors - I don't think I'd feel comfortable wearing a Rolex in my current role (swr engineering manager), and I don't think I'd want to spend that amount at this point anyways.  The pepsi GMT Tudor is interesting, just a tad high for what I'm thinking about at this point, but I'm far enough out and just got a healthy enough promotion that I could make a point to save for it specifically and not have it be a big deal/interrupt other goals.  But even that might be a little garish maybe a Black Bay 36 would be interesting?  Or I guess I could think about an Omega (have a speedmaster).  Is there another Swiss brand I should think about?  The Tudors are generally well received, I think.

Look at IWC. Pilot or Aquatimer could fall into that price range.

My wife has a four door.  Looking at installing some kind of pulley or system to be able to take the Jeep top off in the garage.  Any ideas or successes?  We have 8 foot ceilings.

Lange has a few options. According to their website, you only need a 7 ft ceiling. There are a ton of DYI instructions online that you can build for cheap. I don't trust my build skills that much and since I am solo when removing the top, I went with the powered option. It is a little more expensive, but makes top removal/replacement an easy one person job. If you have space, Lange also makes a hoist cart that you don't have to ceiling mount at all-it's kinda pricey though.

  4. Is there a big difference between the 07-11 vs the 12-17 models?
    Something like

Yes. In 2012 Jeep switched from the 3.8L to a 3.6L V6. Big HP and moderate torque increase. Also more fuel efficient. While not a total dog, the 3.8 is noticeably underpowered compared to the 3.6. There is a reason the 07-11 can be had a bit cheaper.

  5. While I do agree that they suck, I really appreciate them. They let me experience the emotional consequences of going back out with out having to deal with the real ones. I am sharply reminded of exactly what will happen if I make the choice to not participate daily in this program. Truth is, most of my growth has been because pain has directed me to a different path. Some day I may be able to fear pain less and desire humility more than ever, but on most days, I fear pain.

  6. Great, now I feel the need to own a Cat Snake. Other than the weird smell, they seem pretty awesome. Now if I can only ferret out a location to source one...

I am also interested in this. I am in DFW, but my FIL's 80th birthday is coming up and I would love to get his old Acutron back in action for him. I'll look into Little Watch Shop. If anyone else has a recommendation, I would appreciate it.

Update on the Little Watch Shop: They were able to get my FIL's watch up and running for less than $40. It needed a good cleaning and a battery swap. He has had this thing sitting in a drawer for 10 yrs. Prior to that, he wore it every day from college graduation until the day it died. Before this, I couldn't find another watch shop willing to even touch it. I am excited to get this thing back to him in working order.  Can't recommend this place enough. Great knowledgeable people.

I asked on the old site for a recommendation for a shop in Houston to work on an old Acutron. It was my grandfathers and then my fathers watch.

Ok...goddamit did those costumes piss me off. Darth didn’t have his fucking face on the front of his outfit - he had buttons and lights and shit. Why’d they have to put a repeat face on the front? I wanted a damned costume that looked like the real thing. You hear that, you fuckers at TG&Y?!?!?

It's because they knew that by the third house you would take the mask off and stuff it in your treat bag. With the face on the vinyl front, you wouldn't have to explain who you were supposed to be to everyone. Between the sharp plastic edges, sweat inducing no airflow design and cheap plastic band that would snap if you looked at it wrong, I usually bailed on mine after mom took the picture. Don't even get me started on the Kooky Spook Costume.

  10. I've had 2. One on my face and one on my ear. The ear one required a skin graft. Both were done as MOH's procedures. The size of the incisions kinda freaked me out given how small the lesions looked. However, the scars are almost non-existent. Just don't put it off, it will only get bigger over time. Also, welcome to the daily sunscreen and sun hat club.

Just left a Sunday night meeting.

I have begun to enjoy these meetings and find myself looking forward to them, instead of having to be drug to them.

    Day 33.

Belated congrats on 30 days! Regarding meetings, you made the jump faster than I did. I found myself needing to go initially, then having to go. Eventually, I made it to wanting to go at around 6 months.
