    EMG pickups...let's talk about 'em.

Love 'em? Hate 'em? I generally like them, as much as anything due to their dead-quiet performance. One thing I have known about for years, but never tried until recently, is running them at 18 volts (two batteries in series). It makes a big difference especially on clean tones, which is mainly what I have EMGs for (89s with coil split).

One thing people complain about with active pickups is their tendency to sound compressed. The 18 volt mod does quite a bit to alleviate that. If you have EMGs, give it a shot.

I have zakk wyldes in my Gibson les Paul and they are loud and noisy

    sigh, ok

real response.  I really think Coopers BBQ (basically in the same building) is pretty good, but Im sure everyone on here is going to tell you that Im nuts, since Stubbs BBQ is at 8th and Red River.  you can be in suits and not look out of place at Coopers  and its maybe $30 per person with a drink or 2.  You would be fine at Stubbs as well, but it can be loud if they have a band playing.

another good place to bring clients for Austin Tex-Mex is Iron Cactus, its on 6th & Trinity.  Not very expensive, but a good representation of Tex Me

if you are going fancy with the dinner, (and $$$$), Perry's steakhouse on 7th & colorado or Vince Young's Steakhouse on 3rd and San Jacinto are both pretty good

Went to coopers bbq. Great pork ribs! Thanks

Saw an interview of a student who said he wasn't friends with the shooter but somewhat knew him and that the shooter wasn't just bullied by other students, but also by some of the teachers and coaches. Sad fucking situation all around.

I read that about the coaches. So sad all this

Fuck him and his bald spot. He chose the chicken shit path to a title. That’s fine if you are an aging veteran chasing a ring, but to go to that team after his team choked away a 3-1 lead is ridiculous. He wanted to change his “legacy” and he did. He’s an all time great player, but I will never consider him one of the all time great winners no matter how many rings he gets in Oakland.

Mrs. Cknight was out of town last weekend so picked up a 1.75lb prime tomahawk ribeye from Costco. Did a reverse sear on the WSM and it turned out great!9t1w2g.jpg

Even D&B is kind of lame. I don't know where to find it, but an old school arcade and pinball place would be better than the modern games. They just don't have the same soul or skill in new age arcade.

Recess is pretty badass on 6th street for this type of stuff.

in Michigan we don't have shit except D&B and Chuck E Cheese. it sucks here. we are disappointment

I can't speak to the lower end models, but the USA ones are very high quality.  Our lead singer bought one and it's one of the smoothest playing, well made, high quality fit and finish guitars I've ever seen.

That said, we live in a golden age of guitar making.  There are tons of small shops turning out very high caliber instruments these days.  This page is just one example.

im not a fan of the head stock but wasn't sure if they had higher end models because most pics posted on here looked like stupid deal of the day guitars.

  10. If I had the space I’d drop $2k on some badass drums and a G on symbols. Do it right. I already have a basic priemere kit with A Customs symbols. Hi hats and a 16 inch crash and a 20 inch ride I think. It’s in storage and I haven’t been over there in a while. I got the kit when I had a sophomore in HS and am 36 now

adversity is a great teacher.  Like cigarette burns.  It worked on two levels with the lowly assistant running for his life as you saw Jared reliving some childhood shit in the same moment.  Weak episode, but he was brilliant.

Did he tell you to say how good that sandwich was?😂
