So KC voted down the stadium? Baseball should be downtown, period.

They didn't vote no on the stadium. They voted down a 40 yr continuation of a 3/8 cent sales tax to help fund it. Ownership of the Royals and the Chiefs have done a shit job of letting the community know just what they want to do and really rushed this vote. They still have 6-7 years before the lease expires and maybe they can get their shit together and come up with a proposal that doesn't appear to be such a blatant cash grab.

About to hit 6 months of treatment for PTSD/Depression, and I'm feeling better than I have in quite a while.

It's helped me identify the issues so I know what they are. This gives me the tools to cope and more importantly accept them for what they are.

With that I take control of my own well being.

Very glad to hear this. I did treatments for depression way back before the beginning of this thread, hence my participation. I took medication for less than a year and learned some coping techniques that have kept me relatively trouble free and pharma free since. It still rears it's head once in awhile but I have been able to stare it down for the most part. Hang in there. It sounds like you have a good handle on it.

    More cycle fun.

Announcers were laughing that Billy Butler had 2 ABs needing only a single for the cycle and couldn’t get it done. Last best chance. BWJ up now.
3-2 count and he Strikes out swinging. Probably won’t get another AB.

Some friends at NMUSAF told me that nothing in the hangar was damaged and that the planes outside were essentially parts donors and scrap ready. So the museum dodged a bullet there.

I spent Sunday afternoon at Pima A&S in Tucson. Two of the ugliest fuckers that ever flew.

the Starship is special to me because they did a lot of test flights over our farm back in the day. I can identify that sound from miles away.

So I’m letting my kid do models on his own, and the Hobby Boss kits are good for that. We were at a model  shop (the only one in Austin it seems) and I was talking to somebody at the counter and my kid came up with a Mig-15 and asked “what’s a fagot”

I was at The Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson Saturday. They had a couple of these on display with the nickname on the plaque. I imagine that there were a lot of parents that weren't pleased to answer the question.

My wife has gotten really good at sniffing that kind of thing out.

Me:  Oh, hey.  We gotta stop at ____________.  I've heard it's really good.

Her:  People on the internet told you that didn't they?

She has at least learned that the internet tends to give me good advice about this kind of shit

Way back in the Shaggy days, I asked for dining info about Ballinger, TX. I was told to try Lowake Steakhouse and Allsups. Been to Lowake twice but have eaten from the choices at Allsups several times each trip. Thanks @Brisketexan

Two weeks out from knee replacement surgery, Doctor says it's looking great. I guess I'd hate to see one that's not looking great.

Looks a lot like both of mine did in 2005. I played golf or something similar 8 weeks after they were replaced. That looks pretty good. I’m sitting in a holiday inn express as I type this and it looks good to me.

My best guess would be to go the Pampa route rather than over by Borger. You can also always check TxDOT's Drive Texas website that shows traffic conditions and road closures. The NASA hotspot map looks okay the Pampa direction right now.

Thanks. I usually do the Pampa route when going that way. Scentsy, yo.

  9. I am driving to Amarillo tomorrow and had planned to stop in Turpin, OK to visit relatives on the way. Is there a safe route from Turpin to Amarillo that won't put us in the way of those fighting the fires? I will go to OKC and take I-40 to Amarillo if it isn't advisable to drop in from the north.

On a similar note, I’ve picked up a Rockwell/Delta jointer and bandsaw that belonged to my dad to help my mom clear out her garage. The tools were originally purchased by my great grandfather in the 30’s or 40’s. They mostly work though need some TLC since they’ve just sat since 2008 or so.  Anyone know a good place for spare parts and whatnot?

Ebay has been a good source for restoring my Granddad's old stuff but the forums at The Garage Journal were really helpful with the more obscure stuff. They have a classified section and specialized forums for just about any brand you might have.

  11. I have some sort of hearing/cognitive issue that doesn't allow me to understand the lyrics the first few times I hear a song unless it is sung like a church hymn or somesuch. This was troubling before the internet because not all albums had a lyric sheet. I would look at sheet music at the music store to get shit figured out. Once I see the lyrics they are stuck in my head and I can hear the lyrics correctly. "Sinkhole" by DBT became much more meaningful after I did a lyric search. I want it played at my funeral.

Having some land cleared to section off cattle down in Frio Co.  I sent up the drone to see how it was looking as the Cat guy did his thing and got this video.  There's something satisfying about watching full grown trees being snapped like toothpicks...

Thanks for that link. I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the day.

Quite the step up. The Royals’ previous biggest contract was Salvador Perez at 4/$82M

Remember, this is the organization that let Beltran walk over a $1M difference. Not per year but over the life of the contract.

I'm still not sold on our GM but it looks like ownership has deeper pockets than ever before.
