I thought Jack reused their barrels which would knock them out of the bourbon category?
No, they meet all bourbon requirements but including new charred oak barrels. They just add a few other requirements.

The Small Batch is pretty good. The Single Barrel is better. Here's the hierarchy:
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Straight Rye
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Old Fashioned Sour Mash
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Warehouse C Tornado Surviving
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Seasoned Wood
- E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain
Some people like the Seasoned Wood better than the Four Grain.
In terms of difficulty to find and expense on the secondary market, I think it's more like this.
Small Batch
Single Barrel
Straight Rye
Barrel Proof
Four Grain
Seasoned Wood
Cured Oak
Warehouse C Tornado Surviving
Sour Mash
Also, the Seasoned Wood is definitely better than the Four Grain. I'm not a huge fan of the Barrel Proof, and I love higher proof stuff. I think there are far better barrel proof options out there at better prices. The Single Barrel and Small Batch are great deals. Never had the Cured Oak, Tornado, or Sour Mash although I do have a couple bottles of the Tornado. I just haven't opened them.
The Four Grain should be coming out for a second batch within the next few weeks. Obviously you should purchase immediately if you luck into seeing it.

Need some Blanton's education. Had some shared with me last weekend. It had a label saying what date it was taken from Barrel No. xxxx from Warehouse "H" on Rick No. blah, blah , blah
so is this some special deal or regular Blanton's? It was really tasty, a touch heavier than other bourbons I've liked, but a nice flavor.
I'm pretty sure that's all on the regular Blanton's Single Barrel as well. All Blanton's bottles are from warehouse H.
You'll know the straight from the barrel because it will be 35+ proof stronger.

He's also raised awareness of the Opioid crisis, although I can't say he's really done anything positive to help resolve it.

I'll give this a real shot. Although I don't agree with the way he's gone about either, he has some legitimate points regarding regulation and immigration. I'm not sure if he really followed through on that whole "for every new regulation two existing ones have to be eliminated" thing. In general, we should be looking to make the regulatory framework easier to understand and to comply with. Constantly adding new regulations makes it very difficult for smaller companies to comply. It's just too complicated, even if companies are trying to do things the right way.
One immigration, I'm not so sure that some merit based system isn't a decent way to do things, at least for a portion of our immigration. Also, some pause on allowing immigrants from some of these hotspots isn't a bad idea. Now, he once again didn't go about it the right way, and he comes across as racist, but there is some common sense it really taking a harder look at who we allow into the country.

Hilcorp Energy would be a good example of an E&P that buys mature conventional assets for PDP and generates significant cash flow with low capital investment.
Yes, Hilcorp is a good example.

Exactly. Key word being private (capital). The buyers are rarely public so it's difficult to trade around the idea. And to the original post (#97), I would not use a CO2 flood divestiture as an example of conventional assets.
I consider a CO2 flood to be tertiary production from a conventional oil field. Unconventional would be any tight oil/gas, shales, oil/tar sands.

With the collapse of MLPs, who are the buyers of mature conventional assets now? For example, Denbury has an asset package now of mature established CO2 floods in Mississippi. Reasonably steady 7,000+ bbl/d with minimal upside. The best thing is to buy and hold. It generates a pretty steady $5 million per month of free cash flow. Who are the buyers for something like that?

QuoteIn today’s Monthly Oil Market Report published by OPEC, according to secondary sources, Venezuela’s production fell by 55,000 barrels per day in March, to 1.488 million bpd. According to the report, Venezuela’s self-reported production fell by a greater amount—77,000 bpd, from 1.586 million bpd in February to 1.509 million bpd in March.
Analyst consensus is that Venezuela is unlikely to pull out of this tailspin. In fact, Venezuela’s position is likely to worsen, with Venezuelan refineries expected to close as crude shortages and underinvestment continue to bite, according to S&P Global Platts.
On paper, Venezuela boasts proven reserves of 301 billion barrels, although that figure arguably contains oil that cannot reasonably be extracted, and much of it is of a heavy variety that requires finagling with diluents to pump and move through pipelines. But how much oil Venezuela truly has and how much of it is extractable is moot—at least for now—while the country flounders with starving people, a corrupt regime, and failing infrastructure. -

Great prices on that list. I'd have jumped on that EH Taylor Cured Oak for $18.

It’s awesome. I rank my favorite five ryes like this.
Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye

Michters 10 Rye
I like these over Boss Hog and Sazerac 18. I have a bottle of Bookers Rye, but I haven’t opened it.

I guess it's too late to stop talking about rye on the bourbon thread. Was always a pet peeve of mine on the other board.
Eh, I think you have to include rye with bourbon. It's generally a North American Whiskey thread.

Thanks for the heads up. The stores I normally go to actually have some right now too, I was just saying in general it seems like it will disappear from shelves for a few months every once in a while.
If you know where in Houston I can get some True Blue, on the other hand, I would love that information.
Changed my username (formerly Vince Ombia). True Blue is at Goody Goody Woodway. They have both regular snd cask strength.

Blanton’s SFTB is barrel proof and around 130 proof. You just had regular Blanton’s Single Barrel.
