  1. Peeling the protective sheet off something you just bought.

Related story: many moons ago, I'm waiting in line at Best Buy to exchange something that was DOA out of the box. Old man in front of me has a microwave in his cart. The store was busy as hell (like I said, this was a long time ago before Amazon really took off) so after waiting a while, the old man is pissy as well as the dude running the service desk. Guy plops the microwave on the counter and starts cursing about how he has only had the microwave for a month or so and had to pay someone to remove it to bring back because the keypad section has "started to bubble".

The dude behind the counter blurts out a laugh, apologizes, then reaches over and peels off the film from the keypad. Old dudes face turned 8 shades of red. He loaded it back in his cart and hauled ass while myself and the dude behind the counter are trying to stifle laughter.

  2. I think the NCAA should institute a Bru McCoy rule like Rivals did. If a kid signs a LOI on NSD1 or early enrolls in a school but decides to transfer before NSD2, they are treated like a regular recruit as far as eligibility goes. This would only impact a handful of kids at most each year and would just treat them as if they never signed the first LOI.

They could also have language that said student athlete loses their spring scholarship if they early enrolled and missed the deadline to move schools. Using Bru as an example, if he changed his mind after the deadline to withdraw and also enroll at Texas, he would either choose to stay at USC on his own dime or drop and then come to Texas in the summer on scholarship with the rest of the 2019 class. I think this would be adequate and fair enough to keep a lot of kids from doing it who just get home sick or other minor issues.

  3. Get a call from the school nurse yesterday morning that my 7yr old threw up at the end of their living museum event that all the 2nd graders were doing (he went as Wilbur Wright).

I get to the school and the nurse thinks it was a combo of it being hot in the cafeteria and maybe him being nervous but out of an abundance of caution due to the flu and GI stuff going around the school, they wanna send him home. I can tell immediately by how he's acting, he's not sick. I bring him out to his grandmothers for the rest of the day.

I picked him up in the afternoon and on the drive home he says "I should start throwing up every morning. I had fun today."

  4. Freezing my ass off at the gas pump this morning:

Pick up pump and insert my CC

    Debit or Credit?

    Zip Code?

    Receipt?

Do you want a car wash?

How about some overpriced fuel additives?

    Are you sure?

    Do you love this shit?

    Are you high right now?

    Do you ever get nervous?

    Are you single?

  5. Better than Benedict Arnold.  I heard that guy was hoping to start immediately, but he had to take a Red Coat, instead.
He was long time America commit but secretly gave a silent to the British and later flipped, catching the American staff by surprise.

The women obviously started the fight. One doesn't assault random people in the street by punching them and jumping on their backs. Never ever! Anyone even remotely defending or willfully ignoring such neanderthal behavior should sue their parents for negligent upbringing.
Yeah, I don't know why this is such a hard concept to understand. Too many dudes in this thread are putting the pussy on a pedestal. If they didn't want to get knocked out, they shouldn't have started punching and jumping on the guy. I don't understand why dudes are expected to just let women beat up on them with no ability to defend themselves.
  7. Despite his serious face here, my boy is super excited about pinewood derby today. He wanted to go with basically the same type of car as last year since we took 2nd in his den and 2nd overall for the pack with his minecraft car. The boy in his den that took 1st last year has been a no show at most of our meeting and events this year so he's convinced he's taking home the trophy this year. I've tried to temper is enthusiasm but he gets his competitiveness from me.

This year, we made it a little nicer. We sanded all of our edges smooth and I painted it blue so the stickers would stay put. We also spent a lot more time on polishing axles to a mirror shine, breaking in the car with test runs and loads of graphite and I also set it up to rail ride. Since last year was our first, I didn't know what kind of track our pack had so his last car was set up to go straight but luckily they have a nice aluminum track that looks pretty new so hopefully our strategy this year pays off.
